I don't mind the art style changing and switching as you've established that from the beginning. Much like in a videogame when they switch from CG to sprites to 3d models, you get used to it and suddenly know exactly what to expect from each of the styles. The messy style is great for combat as it looks dynamic and not stiff. I personally find your style fresh and easy to read.
