Night had fallen on the city at this point. Traffic signals and lightpoles all illuminated the streets. One light shone down on a girl in a pink, long-sleeved shirt and white skirt, slightly taller than average. Delle looked back and forth in a bit of unease, until a voice said from above, "Hi Delle!" The red head looked up to find Ellia gently floating down. Glitter danced under her butterfly wings until finally her feet touched the dirt driveway.
Upon her landing, Delle realized just how short the pixie was. She stood an entire head taller, forcing her to look down while saying, "Hi. You're a little-" "Shorter in person? Everyone says that." The snappy reply instantly made Delle nervous. "I-I didn't mean it like that. It's just that you were always flying when I saw you at the Scouting Program." Ellia put on a grin. "I'm just messin' with ya. You wanna fly?" "Uh, I'm not sure if- WHOA!!"
As the ground below becomes farther and farther away, Delle's eyes open wider and wider. Locked in the pixie's arms she shouts, "Wow! We're really going high!" "You think this is high?" Ellia's diagonal ascent straightens up like a rocket. Delle screams and clings to her pilot in desperation. Slowing to a stop, the girls now hover above the highest skyscraper seen in the distance. The terrified witch wraps her arms around Ellia's waist, with her head under her chin. "Ok, I think I'm afraid of heights now. Can we land?" "Sure," Ellia replies with a smirk.
The girls perform a loop in the night sky. Both scream, one in fun, the other in panic. A trail of glitter follows them, as they circle skyscrapers and cell towers. Ellia spins downward like a corkscrew, while her passenger continues to latch on for life. "Trust me?" Delle doesn't reply, but releases her grip on the pixie anyway. With a bit of courage the witch spreads her arms out, and Ellia holds her by the waist. For a brief moment, the full experience of flight fills Delle with joy. Wind passes over her outspread arms and blows through her long, ruby hair.
Fear on the witch's face turns to amazement as she shouts, "WOO-" *cough! cough!* "Delle?" asks Ellia in concern. Quickly the girls find a landing spot on the helipad of a skyscraper, where Delle continues to choke and hold her throat. Finally the moth shoots out of her mouth and flutters away. "Oh my gosh! Delle, I'm so sorry!" A few more coughs preceed Delle's reply, "That...was...AMAZING!!" "Really?" Ellia asks. "Yes! Do you fly like that every day?" Regaining her smug demeanor, the pixie shrugs and answers, "Yep. Have been ever since I was born."
Overlooking the neon lights of Zion, the girls sit next to each other on the tall building's edge. Neither say anything for a moment, taking in the scenery. Finally Delle spoke first, fixing her flustered hair. "I didn't say this in the arena yesterday, but you're very pretty. I really like your eye liner." The compliment sends Ellia into spastic dismissal. "What? No, I'm not- You're the pretty one." Delle giggles a bit and says, "You're acting like that's first time anyone's told you that."
A different facial expression falls on the pixie's face, a look of sadness. "Most people see the pointy ears and wings, not the girl they're attached to...but thanks. It's nice to be seen." A few seconds of silence pass, then Ellia asks, "So who's that boy you're with?" "Gren!?" Delle answers in a rush, "I'm not with him! Well, I mean I am, but not like that..." The girls just stare for a moment, then she continues, "..Gren and I grew up together. We're basically like siblings." "He seems like kind of a push over," Ellia adds. "He's...kind. Unfortunately that makes him a target at school."
The pixie's mind travels back to the Symbiolic Scouting Program, where Victor forced her to team up. "That Victor guy's the bully, right?" "Yes," Delle answers, "Ever since middle school. Every now and then I have to intervene, but that only makes Gren look more like a..." "A pushover?" interrupts Ellia. The witch girl sighs, "Yeah." Upon turning her gaze back to the city, the pixie remembers her errand run. "Hey, I gotta go to the store to get some chips. Wanna come with?" "And risk swallowing a moth again?..." Delle stands with a gentle smile. "...Sure."
