Chapter one
As soon as Aster stopped screaming she launched out of bed, hurrying to the door, glad that it was not locked, just as she stepped out she saw Clover and Basil both leaving a door from her left and right.
“Where the fuck are we?” Aster panicked, “we were in Clovers bed and the next thing i’m waking up here!”
“Where is here?” Clover questioned, her eyes searching around,
“You don’t think your king arrested us do you?” Aster spoke horrified walking closer to the two, she stopped also looking at her surroundings, if they were arrested why were they being kept in such nice rooms. “This room is-”
“Magnificent,” Clover finished off.
The room was lavish and bright, with white marble and stone. The area they were in looked like a large drawing room/sitting room, set with settees, varnished wooden tables, bookshelves and more. There were ornate paintings on the walls, as well as tapestries. There were no candles nor windows in the room, but a huge glass skylight above them, much like a greenhouse.
“Whoa,” Aster heard her sister gasp, her head tilted up to the sky. “This is way too pretty for a cell,”
Aster walked towards the double doors she assumed was the way out of the room. But pulling the handle down and pushing it open was an impossible task, she tried pressing, but nothing. “It won’t budge,”
Basil had a go, who had been silent up till then, he yanked, shoved and tried to force the door open but nothing.
Aster groaned, resting her head against the door, “whoever has us, clearly doesn't want us to leave.” she grumbled,
Clover leaned against a settee, feeling more tired than she should do. Basil rushed over to balance her.
“Easy,” he soothed, placing her gently down to sit.
“Bet you wished you had that soup now,” Aster taunted, turning to face the two, as Basil checked Clover over.
“No one is hurt right?” Basil asked clearly, scanning his sisters for any injuries.
“A bit late to ask, isn't it?”
Basil shrugged, “too busy getting my head around that we’re in a different room.”
Aster smirked, “I guess in a way, everything went according to my plan,” Basil raised a brow, though still looked emotionlessly at his sister. “I said that we should leave.”
“You jinxed us,” Clover said matter of factly in a weak voice,
“I hope we weren’t taken by some perv,” Aster shuddered remembering how the brothel owners had treated her, Clover and Basil. “I say we try to play by their rules, till we find a way to escape.”
“I don’t think i’m okay with fucking an old man, Aster,” Clover weezed feeling a bit sick, slumping back on the settee.
Aster frowned at her sister, “you’re not fucking anyone, i’d cut off their cock if they even tried anything on us.”
“Lets just think of escaping first,” Basil cut in, not wanting to hear about fucking anymore with his sisters.
“Lets just use our magic,” Clover offered,
“And be captured, and burnt at the stake or hanged. No thank you,” Aster dismissed. But silently thought Clover's idea had some merit. She grew a long vine, but it instantly died. Aster frowned down at her hand, she grew it again, it died.
“Basil, use your magic real quick,”
“Why?”
“Just do it,” she growled,
Basil formed a glowing sphere from his hand, but rapidly it dissipated away, flickering out. He tried again, the same thing.
“By the goddess we’re dead,” Aster muttered, “we can’t use our magic.” she gazed at Clover, “call the elements.”
“Wind,” Clover called to the air, “wind,” she echoed, not even a flutter of a breeze or rush of air flew by them, they couldn’t hear it’s whispers. “Wind!” Clover shouted.
For a moment the three thought they heard something, “you heard that right?” Clover asked Basil and Aster, they nodded. “Why is the wind apologising to us?”
“You shitting traitor,” Aster snarled at nothing.
Clover huffed crossing her arms, “we don’t need your help anyway,”
Basil looked blank at the door, “we’re stuck here then.”
Aster deflated, “i guess so,”
It was then that the double doors flew open, a short blue haired girl walking in. she grinned happily at three, “oh good,” she giggled, “you’re awake.”
Aster immediately shared a look with Basil who shook his head no to her, but she didn’t heed his warning, she sprinted past the girl, running out the room. If one of them managed to escape she could get help, but not even half way down the corridor, she was stopped by two guards, who picked her up like she weighed nothing. Aster kicked, punched, swore and shouted all the way back to the room where Clover and Basil were.
“Oh good,” the blue haired girl clapped, “you caught her,” she let out another giggle at the end of her words, which Aster had a sneaking suspicion was going to get on her nerves. The two men dropped Aster, she glared up at them, then to the girl,
“What in the hells do you want with us?”
The girl smiled brightly, “I want to help you get ready silly,” she took Aster by the arm, it shocked her how strong the girl was for someone so small. “We have clothing ready in your sizes in your bedchambers for after you bathe. Once dressed there will be food in the sun room to break your fast, the door to it should be right next to your dressing room.” her chirpy voice squeaked happily.
Aster, Clover and Basil looked at one another. “You want us to have a bath?” Aster spoke in disbelief,
“And give us fresh clothes?” Basil added,
“And give us food?” Clover joined.
The girl nodded her head. “Please,” she says breezing past the three. The two men remained stationed at the double doors, Aster glared again at them as the girl walked towards her room. “Follow me,” she gestured with her head and hands. The three followed not knowing what else to do.
The girl showed them to the bathing chamber, which Aster and Clover had to share, and to the sun room, pointing to the other door to the side for Basil telling him that was his door from his own room. When they came back into Aster's room, she was shocked and amazed that her and Clover's bath was already filled and heated, steam, along with floating bubbles seeped out from the open door. The bath was large enough to fit more than eight people.
The girl quickly left Clover and Aster by themselves to let them bathe, leading Basil out to show him to his own bathing chamber.
Aster could tell how much Clover's bones ached and knew a hot bath would do her some good. They both headed in closing the door, so as not to let the heat out. Surprisingly the water never grew cold, and stayed at a constant temperature. It was bliss, Aster sighed, leaning back against the marble. The soap smelled heavenly with a little bit of spice to it.
“I Don’t want to ever leave,” Clover informed murmuring,
“I second that,” Aster drifted.
