Basil, Aster and Clover are orphans, left on the steps of a temple turned orphanage by a woman who shortly died after. they are triplets with a secrect, they have magic. in a world abundant with magical power but most kingdoms outlawing the use of such gifts, the siblings are consisting fearing discovery. 

also in this world every person is born with a mark on thier left wrist, which only matches with one other, they're soulmate. 

after their eighteenth birthday, the orphange gets them work at the palace, where Clover meets her soulmate, Cyrus. Cyrus is a vistiting king from Spendia, he instantly falls in love with Clover and her and her siblings soon depart with him back to his kingdom. 

during the journry Clover finds out that Cyrus hates magic, which terrifies her. she, Aster and Basil agree it would be best to stay away from Cyrus. but this courses a rift between them, building till finally he confronts Clover, she ends up revealing her magic, which leaves Cyrus feeling bettayed and angry.

the two do not talk for a week, whilst Clover falls into a devastating depression, and Cyrus an irritable amd explosive temper. but just when he was going to finally ready to speak with her, declaring his unwaving feelibgs despite her magic and in fact embracing that part of her fully he found them gone. 

the three were taken by a man, name Elron (a man they had met during thier travels at a tavern), who is an ambassador for the powerful and ever looming holy empire, where the empeor is said to be decended from the goddess herself.
