Preston's POV
When I woke up the following morning, I opened my eyes to the sun beaming between the curtains, shining natural light into the dorm room. I rubbed the sleep from my eyes, and as I tried to roll over to pick up my phone off of the ground to check the time, I immediately noticed the warm body pressed against my own, preventing me from moving.
I looked down to see Adrien fast asleep, arms wrapped around my stomach, his head laying against my bare chest. He looked so peaceful and relaxed in his sleep, and just having him cuddled up against stirred a wave of emotions in my chest. It felt comfortable, to have his body against mine, despite us being on a small ass dorm bed, but my heart was pounding.
I couldn't remember the last time we slept together like this. We haven't laid together like this since we broke up, and so I nearly forgot what it felt like. Now, I was reminded of what it felt like, and it felt like heaven. I never wanted to move from this position ever again.
Adrien stirred in his sleep. He lifted his hand to rub at his eyes, a yawn falling from his lips. He opened his eyes and squinted, appearing dazed still, his blonde hair a mess. I lifted my hand to brush my fingers through his messy hair. He blinked the sleep out of his eyes and tilted his head back, eyes meeting mine.
I smirked, "morning, sleepyhead."
"I-I...uh!" Adrien's eyes widened when he realized the position we were laying in. His cheeks flushed red almost instantly, and he quickly let go of me and sat up on the bed.
"Something the matter?" I teased, amused. Adrien cleared his throat, awkwardly brushing his fingers through his hair.
"Uh, I have no idea what you're talking about," Adrien shook his head. I couldn't help but laugh.
"Oh, is that so?"
"Mhmm...yup."
I hummed, resting my hands behind my head. I flexed my muscles, teasing him, smirking when Adrien's cheeks burned red.
Adrien grabbed his pillow and smacked me in the face with it. I lifted my hands seconds before the pillow could hit my face, and burst out laughing. He scoffed.
"What time is it?" Adrien asked, changing the conversation as he stood up from the bed to grab his phone off the floor. I chuckled and leaned over the bed to grab my own phone off the floor, quickly turning it on to check the time.
"9:30 AM," I replied. Adrien hummed.
"What do you want for breakfast? I bought pancake mix the other day," He said.
"What flavour?"
"Vanilla, obviously. But I bought blueberries to put in it."
"Mmmm...okay, yeah, I could definitely go for some pancakes," I chuckled, stomach growling at the thought of pancakes. Adrien smiled crookedly and nodded.
I pulled myself out of the bed. I grabbed a hoodie from my overnight bag and threw it on, before following Adrien out of his dorm room. It seemed like we were the only two awake, seeing as the lights were still off in the rest of the apartment dorm, and so Adrien had to turn on the lights on our way to the kitchen. Once there, I leaned my hip against the counter, watching as Adrien grabbed the pancake mix from one of the cupboards, plus a few other things he would need.
"Just thinking about pancakes makes me think about your mom's pancakes. God, I miss her cooking," I spoke up, watching as Adrien poured the pancake mix into a bowl, added water, and mixed it together with a whisk.
"Yeah, I enjoy cooking for myself, and my mom is a pretty good teacher, but I miss her cooking every day. This pancake mix will never live up to par," Adrien shook his head, dumping blueberries into the batter, "wanna put the skillet onto the stove for me and add butter?"
"Yeah sure," I hummed, standing straighter as I moved around Adrien to grab the skillet from the bottom cupboard, where he told me it would be. I also grabbed a spoon and the butter from the fridge, set the skillet on the stove, turned on the burner, and put a couple of spoonfuls of butter into the pan to melt.
The two of us stood side by side in front of the stove as Adrien poured pancake batter into the pan, flipped the pancake around in the pan, before setting it onto a large plate once it was cooked, and repeated the process. While the pancakes cooked, we talked about everything and anything.
"Mmmmm...It smells so good in here."
Adrien's roommate Luella, walked into the kitchen, inhaling the delicious smell that swarmed the rest of the dorm. She walked over, pushing us apart slightly with her hands on our shoulders so she could peek over our shoulders at the pancakes cooking in the pan. She took another big inhale and sighed. I burst out laughing.
"Are you making these just for yourself or....could I maybe...have some...?" She asked, flashing an innocent smile at me with fluttered eyelashes, and then at Adrien.
Adrien laughed, "yes, you can have some. I'm making enough for everyone."
"Hurray!" Luella cheered and wrapped her arms around Adrien, hugging him tight, "you're the best! Have I told you how much I love you??"
"Everyday."
"Where's my hug?" I asked, forcing a pout. Luella let go of Adrien, looked me up and down as she tucked a strand of her black hair behind her ear, before shrugging.
"Eh...you can get a shoulder pat," She said, smiling as she patted me on the shoulder. I scoffed.
"Wow, I'm hurt."
"Listen, you may be Adrien's hot best friend, but that doesn't mean you get a hug," She smirked, waving a finger at me, "you'll get one once I determine whether or not you have a decent personality to go with the looks."
Adrien started laughing. He had to stop mid-flip of a pancake because he was laughing so hard. Luella began laughing along with them. I looked back and forth between them, placing a hand on my chest in feigned hurt.
I was betrayed, and roasted.
"Wow, between you and Karsten, I'm just getting bullied," I replied. Luella giggled.
"Well, we love Adrien, and so we must protect him at all costs," Luella stated, "which means we gotta test out this so-called best friend of his."
"Test me out? I should be the one testing you guys," I laughed.
Adrien chuckled to himself, shaking his head as he focused his attention back on the pancakes. Luella and I continued our banter while Adrien listened in, making occasional comments, and by the time all the pancakes were cooked Karsten, Flores, and Faryn were awake and greeting us in the kitchen. There were enough pancakes for each of us to have two, and so once everyone had two pancakes on their plate, we got out the maple syrup and whipped cream from the fridge and sat around the kitchen table.
"So, what are your plans for the rest of the day?" Luella asked, drizzling maple syrup all over her pancakes.
"Probably just go to the mall for a bit and then just hang out here. Flores and Preston have to catch the bus around five today, right?" Karsten replied, glancing between me and Flores while taking a bite of his pancakes. Flores hummed and nodded.
"Yeah. Wish we could have stayed longer, but obviously, school is a pain in the ass," Flores chuckled. I nodded in agreement.
"Yeah, but it's fine. We'll just have to come back again another weekend," I chimed in, drizzling maple syrup over my pancakes along with two spoonfuls of whipped cream.
"If only you could visit every weekend," Karsten sighed wistfully, leaning over to rest his head against Flores's shoulder. Flores chuckled and kissed Kartsen's forehead.
Adrien smiled softly at the two of them, taking a bite out of his pancakes. There was a sudden knock on the door. Adrien excused himself as he stood up from his chair and headed to the door to answer it, and I watched him while Flores and his roommates continued chatting.
Adrien opened the door, and there stood a man that I'd never seen before, a smile tugging his lips. My brows furrowed in confusion.
"Luka!" Adrien exclaimed in surprise, a pleasant smile adorning his face. His arms came up and he hugged him briefly, before letting go and stepping back, "What are you doing here?"
Oh, I thought to myself bitterly. Luka. So that was him.
"Sorry for popping in so suddenly, I hope you don't mind," Luka chuckled. Adrien shook his head, waving his hand.
"No need to apologize, I don't mind at all!"
I got up from my chair and walked over to the door, coming to stand behind Adrien. Luka's gaze shifted and he glanced at me curiously. I squared my shoulders, looking him up and down.
"Oh, Preston! This is Luka, I've mentioned him to you before," Adrien said. I hummed, "Luka, this is Preston."
"It's nice to meet you finally. Adrien has talked about you to me lots," Luka smiled at me, holding his hand out in greeting. I reached out and shook his hand, squeezing his hand a little too hard. Though, he didn't seem to react and kept that perfect smile on his face.
"Yeah, nice to meet you too," I nodded slowly.
"Did you want to come in? We were just eating breakfast," Adrien asked Luka, stepping aside as he opened the door wider. Luka shook his head.
"Oh, that's okay. I actually just came to give this to you," Luka replied, holding out a paper bag to Adrien.
"What is it?"
"Well if you'd open it, then you'd find out," Luka laughed.
Adrien frowned curiously. He took the bag from Luka, pulling the handles apart to look inside. His eyes widened and he snapped his gaze back up to Luka in pleasant surprise.
"You got me new art supplies?"
"You mentioned to me a couple of days ago that you needed a new sketchbook and some paint since you ran out, so I decided to stop by the art store in town to get some for you," Luka said.
"You're amazing, you know that?" Adrien said to him, "you didn't have to go out of your way to get this stuff for me, I know art supplies are a bit expensive."
Luka smiled, "well, I wanted to," he adjusted the scarf wrapped around his neck, "I gotta go now, my friends wanted to hang out, but I'll text you later."
"Alright, I'll see you later, and thank you for the art supplies, means a lot," Adrien replied.
"It was my pleasure," Luka chuckled. He pulled Adrien into one final hug before he let go and nodded his head towards me, "it was nice to meet you, Preston."
"Yeah, you too," I nodded.
Luka smiled, and then, he was out the door.
