He felt the bullet hit his back, and the powder blasted around him. It covered him. He heard screams. From Women to kids, they screamed as if it hit them.
“Ethan.” They cried together.
A few specks of dust fell on the lady. She hissed in pain. But she was checking him.
The twins were next to him in a second. He knew them for only a night. But he could understand them. They didn’t feel or fear. That was the first time he saw fear in the eyes of the twins.
But there were some issues. He never felt anything. He wondered if those people faked their pain. But he saw them bleeding. So they weren’t faking it. But why did it never hurt him?
The people realized it, too. They stopped screaming. Only mad laughter echoed throughout the place. He looked at the monster who had been laughing. He leisurely walked towards him. When he saw Asher walking without a drop of blood, his face paled in response.
He picked up his gun and continuously shot him. One after another, bullets hit him, and he sparkled like shit. When his gun emptied, he still continued to hit empty shots. When he got next to the monster, he placed the gun on his stomach and winked at him before shooting him. The monster screamed in pain.
Asher shot him and continuously emptied his gun. Hey, that's what he did to Asher. The other monsters looked at him in awe. One of them tried to speak.
“Hey, you are on the wrong side. You belong to ours…” A look from the silent twin shut his rant.
“Please. I will never hurt kids.”
“Women?” Honey twin muttered.
“I believe in gender equality. I will hit both genders equally.”
“Shit, no. It can never be our Ethan.”
Asher picked up his phone from his pocket and turned it on. A blank screen showed his reflection.
“Anyone got a charger or power bank? Mine is in the car. Chris had been playing with it and …” Asher's eyes widened.
Poor Chris has stayed in the car all alone. He combed his hair and walked in the direction of his car.
“Um, Asher.”
“Huh.” Asher never bothered to turn.
Asher wiped his face inside his shirt and dusted him up. It didn’t make anything better, but he still tried.
“Where are you going?”
“My brother's pet is in my car. He would have woken up. He always woke up at midnight to disturb others.”
“Oh, you helped us. So we want to return the favor. Don’t travel at night. Stay here with your pet.”
“I think about it. If you knew me, you wouldn't offer that.” Asher muttered and walked.
Asher smiled without looking back. He speeded up and stood in front of his car in minutes.
He remembered something else, too. He turned to see the direction of the wolf, which disappeared. His heart wanted to meet the wild animal again. He shook his head. What was he thinking? He opened the back door.
A loud, angry hiss welcomed him.
“Chris, bro. I got shot by an idiot.” He tried to inject pain into his words.
Chris's eyes narrowed on him. The yellow python studied him. He tried to look pathetic.
“See, my gun is empty. He did all these things to me.” Asher pointed to the dust covering him.
An angry hiss.
“It hurts.”
Hiss.
“Painful.”
Hiss.
“Deadly.”
Hiss.
“I am sorry bro.”
A loud hiss.
“Come on. Give me a break. Or I throw you here and lie to our brother that you ran away. Our brother will believe me because you did it once.” Asher said ruthlessly.
That shut Chris up.
Oh, of course. He did it once when he was half this size, which he still regrets. As a brother, it was Asher’s responsibility to never let it die.
He moved to the front door, which he never closed. He opened his compartment and tried to pick up some tissues. Chris slowly moved towards the front seat. He got closer to Asher’s hand for his rub.
“No, Chris,” Asher ordered.
A hiss filled with rage. He tried to chomp Asher’s finger.
Asher laughed. He wanted to rub his head but wondered if it hurt Chris. So, he had to clean himself first. He felt a tingle in his spine. He looked around to see the wolf sitting on the rock near him and looking at him. It looked like it was studying him.
Asher wiped his face. Shit. The powder. He wondered how he looked to the wolf. He took a tissue from the car, wiped his phone, and plugged in his power bank. Then he took a new one and wiped his face.
He started cleaning himself while a wolf and snake judged him. And it felt completely normal to him. He wanted to laugh. He tried to wipe harder, but the powder stuck to his skin. He huffed.
A hiss.
A huff.
He looked at his bro, who was comfortably enjoying his displeasure. He knows for sure that Chris was laughing at him. His mystery wolf was lying with his head on his paw. His eyes held a glint. From the look of it, he might be laughing too.
“Come on. Don’t be mean,” Asher smirked.
“I wonder if there is a stream here.”
The wolf got up and growled at him.
“What?” Asher demanded.
A shy whimper. Then he walked into the dark. Asher understood his ‘follows me’ signal. He looked at Chris.
“Sorry, buddy. What if it hurts you like those people? I can’t carry you. Once I get cleaned, I will come and pick you up. Ok?” Asher muttered and walked towards the wolf.
He was not frightened of that wolf. Instead, he was very much interested in him. First, he led him into a painful fight. Now what? Where is he leading him?
The wolf stopped midway after a few minutes and fully turned towards him. His eyes were glued to Asher’s face. There was an eagerness on his face. Before Asher reacted, he turned and started running.
Asher unconsciously ran after his mysterious wolf.
