Over in California, Chelsea had just awakened. She was in a large bedroom with a kingsize bed and an en-suite bathroom all to herself. The first thing she did was to go over to a desk with a mirror on it, of where she applied make-up to her face and used hair straighteners. Whilst she was doing so she turned on a widescreen television in her bedroom of where she put on a news channel. She was hardly paying any attention to the television, she clearly just had it on as background noise.
Whilst she was in the middle of doing this, someone knocked on her door, with quite aggressive for. She groaned and opened the door - Steve was on the other side, holding a jar of white powder.
‘Chelsea, what the hell is this?!’ he shouted, having a huge frown on his face. Chelsea gasped the moment she saw the powder, her cheeks were all pink and she started sweating.
‘I… I don’t know! What is it?’
‘It’s cocaine, that’s what. What the hell is it doing in my room?!’ Chelsea was breathing rapidly, sweating even more.
‘It’s… probably washing powder! Don’t ask me how it’s there, I didn’t put it there!’
‘“Probably washing powder”, huh?’ he took a good look at it, inspecting it further ‘What would something like that be doing in an unlabeled container like this?’ Chelsea groaned, glaring at him.
‘Oh, leave it to you to sound all fancy. It’s washing powder. I put it in a capsule like that so I can measure the correct amount’ she paused for a moment ‘It’s highly likely one of your stupid little football bros put it in your room while you weren’t there just to play a little prank on you’ she paused again ‘After all, you did have quite a lot to drink last night, it’s highly likely they did that’ Steve look confused, though simultaneously he still appeared to be agitated ‘Or maybe they wanted to dump their coke in your room so no one could find it, if you’re still going by that logic’ Steve was glaring at her with a look signalling utter disbelief.
‘You know what?’ Chelsea gasped the moment he started speaking ‘I’m going to burn whatever this is. I don’t care if it’s cocaine or white coca powder. I do not want to police to investigate us. Understand?’ Chelsea didn’t answer. Her arms were crossed. ‘OK, fine. Don’t talk to me’
‘Don’t you have to go to work today?’
‘Well, yes. But not until an hour or so’
‘Well go and get ready for it!’
‘Speaking of work, your highness, how about you go out and get a real job?’ Chelsea’s face went red the moment he said that. Her right hand turned into a fist.
‘Asshole! I do have a real job. Yes, I haven’t had a gig for a while but I’ll get one soon. Mark my words’ Steve just sighed.
‘It’s not that I’m worried about’
‘Oh? What is it, then?’
‘You see, Chelsea, by being a model you’re not providing any value to society’ Chelsea gasped, sporting a scowl on her face.
‘What did you just say?’
‘I would rather you were something like a nurse, a carer, a-’
‘No, I’m not wiping people’s asses for money’
‘Woah! Let me finish! I want you to have a job where you’re doing something you’re proud of. It’s for your own sake. I mean, what did you want to be when you were a little kid?’ Chelsea didn’t answer, eventually she just shrugged and said:
‘I never really thought about that. I guess if anything I wanted to be a singer or a dancer, but then I just grew out of that phase. I know what you’ll say anyway: I can’t sing or dance’ Steve had no answer. The two just stared at each other for a while.
‘Well, as you said, I better get to work. I have to pay the bills somehow’ he walked away with the jar of white powder. When he was out of her sight Chelsea slammed her door shut. After breathing heaving and clenching her fists in a clear fit of rage she later broke down in tears.
