There once was a ship set out to sea. A young, hearty crew of pirates, whose captain was convinced she was invincible. She was proven wrong one day when they were caught in a storm. The ship sank, her and all her crew with it but, it is said that the same ship haunts the seas, picking up poor souls who have had the misfortune of coming across it. So beware children, for The Mighty Siren and her captain Allecto still roam the seas.
I had heard this story so many times as a child, and even though I enjoyed it, I was always wary of its authenticity. Today however, I hope with all my heart that the tale is true. For Allecto, Captain of The Mighty Siren is the only person in the world who can help me. So out into the sea I row in this pathetic looking dinghy with only my wits, my favorite dress, and a satchel full of the essentials.
As I row through the endless seas I hear thunder in the distance. It sounds quite far off, but the more thunder I hear the closer it sounds. The thunder sounds as though it’s right next to me now and yet I don’t see any lightning. I look all around, but see nothing. Then I hear thunder once again and for the first time since this storm began I see lightning. As it strikes a ship appears and on its right side I see The Mighty Siren. The shock nearly kills me, but I quickly gather my senses for I know this is my only chance. I see her near the bow of the ship, black hair whipping in the wind, ice blue eyes scanning the distance, thin arms by her side. I call out to her with all my strength and just a little bit of hope,”Captain, I need your help!”
Her eyes lock with mine. ”Oh?,” I hear her say. She looks at me and smirks,”Well then climb aboard.” She throws down a rope ladder. I grab the bottom of it, gladly leaving the dinghy and oars behind.
As I reach the top rung she offers her hand to me. I take it and she helps me onto the boat,”Thank you, Captain.”
“Oh please, call me Allecto,” I nod.”And you are?” She looked at me curiously, probably wondering why someone dressed like a noblewoman is seeking her help.
“I am Andromeda,” I bow to her. “And I humbly ask for your assistance.”
