Chapter 8
September 10, 2021
Commuting is such a bitch. It is even more of a bitch when you carry a backpack that hurts your back. So once I got home, I collapsed on my bed. I was about to slip into sweet unconsciousness when my phone rang. I picked it up, and once I looked at the caller id, I was surprised to see that it was Eloise.
“Hey, Eloise, is everything okay?”
“Yeah, I am good.”
“Okay, why are you calling me then?”
“I need a favor.”
“And this favor entails what exactly?”
“I was wondering if you could tutor me?”
“Uhm, I have never taken a hospitality or finance class before.”
“Oh, none of those. I need help with ANT 100 Human Progression, I have a quiz next, and I need to pass since I didn’t do well on my last test”
“Uhm, I don’t mind helping but have you gone to the tutoring center or your professor for help first?”
“The science section of the tutoring center is closed, and I didn’t want to go to my professor since I am too far behind. And since you’re an Anthropology major, I thought you might have taken the same course and might be able to help if you’re not busy.”
Rolling my eyes, I said, “Sure, can you tell me what specific topics you need help with so I can dig out my notes? Also, when is the quiz, and the format?
“It’s on Friday. 15 multiple-choice questions and the topics are mating systems, forces of evolution, strepsirrhine, and haplorhines.”
“Okay, does Tuesday at 11:30 good for you?”
“Yeah, I will see you then,” Eloise said before hanging up.
I exhaled and then began to snap the rubber band on my arm. I don’t mind tutoring others. Still, I am more helpful when the person and I are taking a course simultaneously. However, I still have the notes from when I took the course, and I could write some more for Elosie to understand better. My internal rant came to a halt when I heard a loud snap; I looked down and saw that my rubber band had snapped, Guess it is time for a new one.
