Thirty minutes later, I appeared from my bedroom and smelled lavender and bergamot. Two of my favorites, and perfectly balanced so that one complimented the other. I realized the smells were coming from candles when I entered the living area. "Alright, I'm intrigued. Are we watching a movie or having a spa day?"

I'd worn jean shorts and a tank top. I hadn't thought about going anywhere, but Freddie stood at the sliding glass door to my patio. She held out her hand. "I'd like to show you something of mine."

"Alright." I slipped my hand into hers, and she turned and walked through the sliding glass door —without opening it. "Freddie!" She held onto my hand as we crossed a threshold and landed somewhere else.
