She really ditched us, I couldn't believe it. Emma ditched us? She blackmailed us, and she walked away, just like that.
Toby looked frustrated, Harry looked pissed and Jason, he looked confused.
I didn't even know how I felt, I didn't expect something like this to happen I guess. I wasn't prepared for something like this to happen. Especially so fast, it happened right after our base got destroyed, why was everything going wrong now?
“Emma, damn girl was smart. She knew what she was doing, and of course Jason played the major role for her to do what she did” Toby muttered.
That pissed me off, “Toby, calm down, don't blame this crap on Jason!”.
“Sure, but remember what we talked about. A week, that's it”.
Harry jumped in the argument, “It doesn't matter, Emma didnt wanna go along with this, if she’s gone she’s gone. Screw it”
Toby scoffed, “follow me up front then. Let's talk about what we're gonna do about the Parasites”.
Toby began walking, I started following him but Harry grabbed my shoulder, tight.
“Leo, she really didn't care. Forget about her, keep your head straight, you got better things to think about”.
Harry really only argued with Emma, but he did consider her a comrade, after sticking together for a year, I guess we all did, except her. It still didn't feel real, but Harry was right. We were all on board with Toby, I had to clear my head and focus on this now.
I walked up some steep stairs, I couldn't tell what they were made from though. It made me curious, cause for some reason, they looked fake?
Still, I ignored it and finished walking up until I reached the top. On this floor, there was a large screen ahead of me, other than that there was a large table with guns, weapons and some weapons. Most of the floor was like that, the ground though, it looked the same as the stairs, fake.
“Alright, this is the idea. Every Parasite in this city, they're all running on one single wireless connection. The best way to describe what that is would be to call it, maybe the mother of all Parasites? One massive Parasite basically, bigger than the rest. It can't do damage though, it's harmless” Toby explained.
I was still thinking about her leaving, but for the sake of not dying, I pushed those thoughts away and focused on what Toby was saying.
So I began questioning him. “Hold up, go back a bit. You said before that someone messed with the code of the Parasites. What do you know bout that guy?”.
“The guy is dead, and well, he didn't really mess with the code for all the Parasites. He messed with the code for the living bluethooth supply, since the other Parasites are all basically connected to this mother of all Parasites, they were all affected”.
“The guy is dead? The heck, how?” Harry asked.
“Not important, he doesn't play a role in any of this anymore. Now, I'm not sure where this mother of all Parasites is just yet, but that's not the current issue. We're gonna run into a lotta damn Parasites when doing all this. The small ones go down from having their left eyes destroyed, but well, I don't know how the bigger ones go down. The “mother of all Parasites” can't fight, so that's fine. But the normal big ones can, and I don't know how to deal with them”.
“I thought you said you could build weapons for that!” Harry shouted.
Toby shrugged, “yea, once I figure out how they go down”.
He came up and handed me a red blade. It had no handle, but it was filled with wires everywhere. They weren’t popping out, just showing from the inside. It made the blade look pretty cool if I was being honest.
“What is it?” I asked.
Toby took it back from me, “The guy who made the Parasites, he gave it to me while I was working with him. All you gotta do is stab it in a Parasite, they won't feel it, but once it's inside, it gives you a map of the entire body. It's just to collect data, something we need if we wanna do this”.
Wait, that meant this guy wanted us to go stab this thing in one of the big Parasites?!
“We find a big one, make sure the battery is damn near finished, push this thing in, and we leave a minute later. I even have a backup plan, evrythings gonna work out”.
It was like he read my mind, everything Toby just said reflected on what I was thinking about. But it still wasn't very reassuring.
“You sure we won't die?” I asked.
Harry answered the question himself, “doesn't matter if we do. I'm in for this plan”.
I expected Jason to be hesitant but he calmly agreed as well, at this point I didn't know what to even think, so I just said, “guess i'm in to”.
Toby nodded, “we leave tomorrow morning. Until then get ready, mostly mentally”.
He walked off after that, Harry followed him for some reason, Jason looked like he was about to walk off but I gestured for him to hold on.
“Jason, you sure you're good with this plan?” I asked.
Jason smiled, he smiled in a way I hadn't seen before, he looked satisfied.
“Yea, I am, don't worry”.
Jason looked at me, “are you good with it, about Emma leaving?”.
I sighed, I still wasn't able to process it all. “It doesn't matter, like Harry said, we got better things to focus on”.
Jason nodded, “For now, maybe. Anyways Leo, i'll talk soon, I have to… umm, write something”.
It was just me now, I didn't feel like moving. It wasn't because of Emma or this plan or anything, it was because of Luis. The guy was still creeping me out, and he said something annoying. He said the wave was after me? What did that mean? Where even was the wave now? This was all so messed up, focusing on one thing was damn hard.
Well Leo, do what you gotta do, just don't die. Please don't die.
