The night sky started to slowly fade into morning light. The fire behind them had burned down, leaving hot coals. Both Kind Person and Dimwit #1 had fallen asleep and were both still sleeping. Character A however didn’t sleep a wink - they slept too much as it is - they tried all night to get the cast of their arm. Before it finally came off, moving the injured arm around. It didn’t hurt as much as before.
A had made sure that Dimwit was still securely tied up, then they checked up on Kind Person, giving back the shirt. Once that was all done, A left.
With the rising sun coming up, A figured that they had probably gone two miles away from the cave. Guessed that KP had brought them at least another mile or two away from the pack at the cave. So probably around five miles or so away from the pack was good.
Character A didn’t know what they were doing but kept moving anyway. Nothing had gone to plan. The People obviously had prepared all characters for when things went off the railings but how could they prepare anyone for this chaos. A continued to walk, feeling a slight tug in their chest ever so often, knowing it was the bite.
There was a slight bit of hope that The People would come to Character A’s need, a slight chance they would. And A was hoping for that. Needing the order from them to know what to do next. Although they would probably say use the bite to their advantage.
The mission is still on they’ll say, A agreed with that. The People would tell them that the mission is still on, this was only a bump in the road.
Suck it up and walk it off. The assignment was still on and would only end when the target was gone. If Character A couldn’t get it done then they would send someone else to finish it off for them.
The morning birds started their chirping, flying around. Day time creatures started to wake up while night time creatures started to fall asleep. A continued to walk, the sun slowly shining through the bushes. The sun felt nice with the cool morning air. Character A still had no idea where they were going but towards where the sun was rising. It seemed like a good idea so they continued walking.
After maybe another half of a mile when the sun was reaching the bottom branches of the trees, Something in their chest stopped them. They placed their hand on their chest, right over the spot that felt like something. Dimwit probably woke up, and noticed that A was missing.
Ignoring the feeling - as best as they could - Character A kept walking.
There had to be something out here, someplace where A could hide; even if it was just for a bit. Luckily there was, walking up a hill and peering over it. A saw a tiny, tiny town.
One grocery store, two small convenience stores, a few blocks for houses, a small playground right in the center, two big buildings(it's hell, both buildings are), a really small library, a community pool and a couple of other buildings. The place seemed cosy enough, but it was only six miles away from a pack.
Not good, not far enough away.
Why be this place close to a pack? A thought, not understanding - caring - why they were close. This place seemed like a good place to camp out for a bit. Maybe even a way to contact The People for a bit of instruction.
Taking the leap, Character A walked down the hill. Carefully not to stumble down, trying to not get anymore injuries. But A knew there would be more sooner or later. There was always going to be pain.
