Roughly twenty minutes later a man with greying hair wearing a blue suit entered the house. He was carrying a briefcase..
‘Hey honey, I’m home ‘ he declared. He hung his jacket on a clothing rack. ‘Hey are you all right?’
‘Oh no, I’m fine. I…’
‘Are you sure? You kind of look like you’ve seen a ghost’
‘Oh no, sweetie, it’s nothing’ the man was putting away his briefcase.
‘Honey, could you do me a favour?’
‘Yes, sweetie?’
‘There’s a football game on tonight and I’ve got friends coming over. Do you mind making so nachos for them?’
‘Not at all, sweetie’ she groaned as soon as she got in the kitchen. She ended up getting a large bag of tortilla chips and dumped them all on a baking tray, putting them in an oven after putting salsa and cheese on them ‘Wait a minute’, she muttered, walking back over to the living room. The man was watching a news program on a very large flatscreen television.
‘Steve?’
‘Yes, honey?’
‘What time is the football game going to start?’
‘In about two hours’
‘Oh, ummm, why do you need the nachos done now, then?’
‘My friends are coming in a quarter of an hour’
‘Oh all right’ she rushed back into the kitchen and put the nachos into the oven, taking them out after five minutes. She put them all on a wooden tray with sour cream and guacamole dips. She brought her tray near where Steve was sitting.
‘Thank you, honey’
‘That’s OK! Anything else?’
‘Yes, could you get me some beer from the fridge? And a few glasses?’
‘Yes sweetie’ she walked back over to the kitchen to open a very large fridge. She brought out a box of beer that contained fifteen beer bottles, she heaved them over to the counter next to the fridge, having to catch her breath as she did so. She then pulled out an already opened bottle of wine and started drinking from it. She put it back in the fridge next to two unopened bottles of vodka. She put multiple bottles of beer on a tray as well as a few glasses, she also put a beer bottle opener on them. She walked back into the living room as if she were walking on a tightrope. ‘Here you go, sweetie’
‘Ah, just what I needed’ Steve immediately opened a bottle of beer and more or less drunk the whole bottle.
‘You had a long day, then?’
‘Yep. I was talking all day to some of my stakeholders. Some of them are idiots, seriously. Like they think they can run businesses better than I could’
‘Yeah, must be annoying’
‘They’re like armchair quarterbacks, they don’t know what it’s like to run a company until you’ve actually been in the position. It’s really annoying’
‘I get the same things being a model, too’
‘Oh yeah, how’s that been?’ Chelsea sighed.
‘I’m just getting fatter every day. I don’t know what’s causing it. I’ve been starving myself every day now and it’s just not coming off! What am I doing wrong?!’ Steve just shrugged.
‘Don’t worry too much about it. You’re still beautiful to me. Those faggots at modelling agencies have impossibly high standards’ he took another swig of beer ‘Why does it matter anyway? Don’t they use photoshop and all that?’
‘They do, but…’ Chelsea sighed again ‘I don’t know, I’ll have to think of something’
‘If you hate it so much, just quit. Life’s too short, Chelsea’
‘No, I don’t hate it! I’ll get through all of this!’
‘Whatever you say’ the doorbell rang ‘Oh, let me get the door’ Steve got out of his chair and answered the door, there were two men wearing American football shirts.
‘Hey Steve! Ready for the game?’
‘As ready as I would ever be, I suppose’
‘Aw come on! What kinda attitude is that?’ Chelsea went up to see them ‘Who’s that girl over there? Is she your daughter?’ Chelsea’s face went completely red, as did Steve’s.
‘No, no no! She’s my girlfriend! I’m sorry, I’m considerably older than her’
‘Nah, good for you! You’re awesome if you could get with a girl like her!’
‘Yeah, totally!’ the two men walked in, going over to living room. They sat on one of the sofas and started drinking beer. ‘Hey, you know what? Steve’s chick should be wearing a cheerleader outfit! She’d be so hot!’ Chelsea started sweating, her face was even redder than before.
‘I think I’ll dress as a nun today’ she muttered, to herself.
‘Are you OK, honey?’ Chelsea gave out a loud gasp ‘Uhhh, yeah, I’m fine! I have the nachos!’
‘Good, let’s serve them up’ Steve went back over to the living room ‘Would like to watch the game with us? I know football isn’t really your thing’
‘Hmmmm, I might watch a few minutes of it’
‘Don’t worry. You’re more than welcome to go upstairs if you’re just going to be bored’
