Chapter 2 Comfy Cold
The heavy snow was still going throughout the storm.
“Mom Im hungry” Warren ran up to DC walked into the cave
“Hold on please Warren” DC said while putting the pup down she had in her mouth.The blizzard got stronger and colder.
“Hey Moki, you think the storms are going to calm down anytime soon?” DC asked while cleaning up next to the pups .
“Mom! I'm hungry!” Warren pulled on DC’s tail
“Sorry Warren but it's too snowy out. We wouldn’t be able to find our way to food right now so you're going to have to wait.” DC pulled the pups all in one small group.
“Pups, these new pups are going to stay with us for a while so be nice okay?” DC looked at them then back at Moki as he was still looking out at the snow.
“Okay mom. We’ll be good, we promise” Stardust replied, nodding his head.
“Yeah we’ll be very good!” Starfire added. Skylar just nodded her head and placed her paw on DC’s paw.
“Why don't you guys go play or something with the new guys?” DC suggested and sat up.
“Okay mom” the 4 pups said in unison as they went to play games with Naja and Sabi.
“Moki you ok?” DC walked up to him.
“Yea I’m fine. I just hope this storm goes away soon.” Moki sighs. DC sits next to him and leans against him.
“Me too. Me too.” DC just watches the snow storm with Moki. DC yawns and starts to drift off to sleep while mumbling stuff to Moki.
“Looks like they sleep talk” Moki thought, looking down at DC who’s fast asleep.
DC started to dull a little as they are snoring and the kids are playing loudly.
Moki looks over at the kids.
“Hey kids, could you quiet down just a bit? Your mother is sleeping. Thanks.” Moki said to them, then looked back at DC.
“Sorry dad.“ Warren said, as he went back to playing.
“It's okay Warren. Just keep watch on your indoor voice.” Moki suggested.
DC was starting to fall onto the ground still somehow sleeping through all the yelling.Moki moved towards DC and layed down next to them, having their tail wrapped around DC. They had both fallen asleep as the kids had slept into a pile.
Morning came and the storm still hadn't given up and it was colder.
“Mom, Dad, wake up!” Stardust shook DC and Moki by nudging them with his head.
“I don't want to. I'd rather go back to sleep,” DC groaned and buried themself back into Moki’s fur.
“It’s morning though! Starfire got some chipmunks! Or at least tried to get some.” Stardust said.
“Wait! SHE went outside without me knowing in this weather?!” DC shot up on their feet growling in anger.
“Mom, chill, I’m okay. I only got scratched a bit when grabbing some.” Starfire said, appearing from around the corner.
DC’s heart was racing and their eyes looked bloodshot.
“STILL! THAT GIVES YOU NO RIGHT TO GO OUT THERE ALONE! YOU COULD HAVE GOTTEN LOST OR WORSE! KILLED!” DC was filled with anger and their head could come off at any moment.
“Well I’m in one entire piece! I’m okay! I won’t do it again! I only did it cuz Warren got hungry! What else was I supposed to do?” Starfire said looking at DC.
“You could’ve waited for me and Moki when we went hunting!” DC snapped.
“Well Warren could’ve started to feel ill if he didn’t get something to eat! I had no other choice!” Starfire barked.
“You two, calm down. We’ll talk about this later.” Moki tried breaking up the argument as best as he could.
“Fine!” DC growled. DC walked over to where stardust was and picked him up.
“I’ll be back” DC walked off from the cave out into the woods.
Starfire looked at Moki “Dad? Does mom not like me?”
“What? No no she loves you! She is just protective, that's all. It was very sweet of you to try to get food for your young brother but it was also very dangerous risking your life outside during the storm.” Moki replied, trying to calm Starfire down. Warren starts to cry from everyone fighting.
Skylar nuzzles Warren, trying to comfort him while Starfire goes and grabs the chipmunks she caught.
“I tried catching as many as I could for all of us if that’s okay.” Starfire places down the small pile of dead chipmunks.
Moki’s POV:
The storm was strong and hard to see, but I just kept following DC through it with the pups until we went to the den. Warren was still hungry due to him being a growing pup, he needed his food.
“Hey Moki, you think the storms are going to calm down anytime soon?” DC asked while cleaning up next to the pups.
“Mom! I'm hungry!” Warren pulled on DC’s tail, trying to get their attention.
Of course he's always is somewhat hungry even though lately it's been hard to find food
“Sorry Warren but it's too snowy out. We wouldn’t be able to find our way to food right now so you're going to have to wait.” DC pulled the pups all in one small group.
They were right, it was very snowy.
“Pups, these new pups are going to stay with us for a while so be nice okay?” DC looked at them then back at me as I was still looking out at the snow. It was blocking almost everything we had left behind us, we could've gotten lost .
DC was introducing the kids like she does with every new person
“Why don't you guys go play or something with the new guys?” DC suggested and sat up.
“Okay mom” the 4 pups said in unison as they went to play games with Naja and Sabi.
“Moki you ok?” DC walked up to me.
It took me a bit to process what they wear saying
“Yea I’m fine. I just hope this storm goes away soon.” I sigh. DC sits and leans next to me.
“Me too. Me too.” DC just watches the snow storm with me. DC yawns and starts to drift off to sleep while mumbling stuff to me.I didn't understand any of it

Niall started to get a headache.
“I don't want to. I'd rather go back to sleep,” DC groaned and buried themself back into my fur to stay warm.
“It’s morning though! Starfire got some chipmunks! Or at least tried to get some.” Stardust said. That was sweet, I thought.
“Wait! SHE went outside without me knowing in this weather?!” DC shot up on their feet growling in anger.
I rolled my eyes at them and DC’s protectiveness.
“Mom chill, I’m okay. I only got scratched a bit when grabbing some.” Starfire said, appearing from around the corner. Was she hiding? I asked myself.
DC’s heart was racing and their eyes looked bloodshot.
“STILL! THAT GIVES YOU NO RIGHT TO GO OUT THERE ALONE! YOU COULD OF GOTTEN LOST OR WORSE! KILLED!” DC was filled with anger and their head could come off at any moment.
“Calm down please you’re going to spit lava like a volcano if you don't” I mumbled
“Well I’m in one entire piece! I’m okay! I won’t do it again! I only did it cuz Warren got hungry! What else was I supposed to do?” Starfire said looking at DC.
“You could’ve waited for me and Moki when we went hunting!” DC snapped.
I rolled my eyes and stood up.

They need to stop fighting, I thought.
“You two, calm down. We’ll talk about this later.” I tried my best with breaking up the argument as best as I could.
“Fine!” DC growled. DC walked over to where stardust was and picked him up.
“I’ll be back” DC walked off from the cave out into the woods.
Where is DC going? I was confused, probably best to give them space.
Starfire looked at me “Dad? Does mom not like me?”
Where is this coming from?
“What? No no she loves you! She is just protective that’s all. It was very sweet of you to try to get food for your young brother but it was also very dangerous risking your life outside during the storm.” I replied, trying to calm Starfire down and reassure her.
“I tried catching as many as I could for all of us if that’s okay.” Starfire places down the small pile of dead chipmunks. I looked at the chipmunks and wondered.. How did she do it?
