I was reading one of the books that the monster had brought, it was about history, a subject that interested me a lot. However, I interrupted my reading when something else caught my attention, and it was the absence of a word from the demon behind the door. I knew he was there since I felt his aura, but curiously he had not deigned to speak to me today.
—Are you all right? —I asked, looking up at the door.
Now that I thought about it, I had never seen his true appearance, although in my head he was a horrible being straight out of my worst nightmares. Maybe in reality he was still as beautiful as when he was an angel, but after all he had been through, I was really beginning to doubt the words that were written in the Bible.
—Why do you ask? —he asked back in a somewhat somber tone of voice.
—You usually talk a lot. —I answered seriously.
—Do you miss talking to me? —he questioned coquettishly, eliciting an annoyed sigh from me.
—No, but I'd rather hear your voice than your silence. —I couldn't have been more sincere when I said that.
As scary as he was already talking, when he didn't say a word he was even scarier, I couldn't tell what he was thinking or what his mood was. Which, made me feel even more helpless than I already did.
—I see. —he murmured. —You know? That's what bothers me. Even though I'm a mere human I won't get tired of giving you the opportunity to control my kind with me, yet you don't even think twice about rejecting me. Why do you do it? —he asked in pain to which I remained silent. —I ASKED YOU A QUESTION, ANSWER ME DAMMIT! —he exclaimed, slamming the door like the beast he was.
—Can't you see it? —I asked him in bewilderment, closing my book. —If this is how you treat me when I'm behind the door... What will become of me at your side? —At that questioning we didn't cross words again for a long time.
