"HAVE you sent her home properly?" Fyre asked while putting his hands on his sides as if lecturing the person in front of him. It has been a couple of months since the problem with Veronica Chime and the person behind her was settled. With the threat gone, Remi was now back in her apartment and already starting her normal life again. Temporarily. Tian Zi's company, where she was promised to work, hasn't been built yet. She had gone back to being a manager at her previous entertainment company and would be soon managing a newbie talent. Occasionally, she would have to work overtime so, as her boyfriend, Jonathan would have to properly escort her home.
Although Veronica Chime was finished, that didn’t mean that Remi Long's career as a manager was done as well. Even though for the past years she had only handled Veronica, she was pretty good at her job and had even received praise from the upper management for always being able to secure contracts for her talent.
"Yes sir, I did. Safe and sound too," Jonathan replied, and even saluted Fyre playfully. Jonathan had always been a playful person and he was also a bully. That's why it was easy for him to find Fyre as his target when it came to his annoying and playful nature. The Omega's reactions were just too amusing for him. Additionally, he still couldn't forget the day when the Omega had purposely stood on top of piled books, just so he would look taller than him and his friend Tian Zi. Although that day hadn’t turned out great due to Fyre's sudden heat, he could not deny that that part was too funny.
"Hmmph, you better take good care of her," Fyre warned for the millionth time before he sat on his chair across from Tian Zi's, who was currently busy with his computer.
"When did I not?" Jonathan replied in a whimsical manner making Fyre raise his eyebrow.
"You tell me. I don't want to pry between your relationship, especially since I promised Remi I would support her. But I couldn't help but wonder why you two didn't meet up like usual days ago. You even made an excuse that Tian Zi gave you work, which I highly doubt since you're too dumb for the job he wants," Fyre said in a monotone to which this time caught Tian Zi's attention, making him smirk at the remark.
"Well that is true," Tian Zi commented, putting his laptop aside, while a smirk flashed on his lips. Normally at this time of the day, he would have been at his parents home sleeping or working on his system alone, but ever since Fyre had decided to work with him plus with Jonathan's hiding from his family, the three of them had been hanging out every day. Tian Zi wasn't the type to hang out with friends a lot, since he doesn't really have that many friends. But recently, he finds it rather fun hanging around Fyre and Jonathan.
"You're right, I'm too handsome to be looking at codes and numbers. That is better suited for the both of you," Jonathan countered. He even dramatically flipped his hair to annoy both Fyre and Tian Zi, which definitely worked against Fyre at least, since Tian Zi was already used to Jonathan’s personality. Additionally, he had a lot of people close to him that had the same personality. One of them was Mo Hanlu, his second elder brother.
"Handsome my ass, which part of your face is handsome?" Fyre asked with a disgusted expression that woke up Jonathan's roguish side. Suddenly, his laid-back expression shifted into seriousness before his face slowly neared Fyre’s.
"Which part? You want me to point it out?" Jonathan asked, looking straight at Fyre's eyes. But to his dismay, unlike what he expected, Fyre's cheeks didn't turn red. The Omega's eyes remained serious, looking back at him as if his question was genuine. Which part of him was handsome? It was a question that had never been asked of him before. As someone who grew up being blessed with all, Jonathan had never failed to make anyone fall for him, whether unintentionally or intentionally. He was not planning to seduce Fyre since he already had Remi. But he expected the Omega would blush at least! But he didn't. This was the first time and he was taken aback!
Of course, in reality, Jonathan was indeed a handsome man. But no matter how handsome he was, the Alpha's face would never work against him; the man was his elder sister's lover.
"So? Which part?" Fyre repeated his question, raising one eyebrow.
"Hmmmn, well that's a first. Do you perhaps have bad eyesight? I don't understand why you don't see it," Jonathan asked in confusion.
"My eyesight is perfectly fine. You're just not as handsome as you thought you were," Fyre said, pushing Jonathan's face away from him, making the Alpha pout.
Meanwhile from the side, seeing this conversation had ended, Tian Zi's forehead slowly softened. He hadn’t even noticed frowning all this time while looking at the two. Tian Zi knew Jonathan never cheated, but the man easily falls out of love and then falls in love again. Although it was not his intention, he was someone you would consider a player. The man might be with Remi Long now, but one could never know how long that would last. After all, from Tian Zi’s perspective, the only reason Jonathan’s relationship with Remi has lasted this long was because he hadn’t met anyone else ever since he started hiding from his family.
Tian Zi was not saying that Jonathan was not in love with Remi. In fact, quite the opposite. She was the only one thus far who had lasted this long with the Alpha, but that did not mean Jonathan’s old habit wouldn’t come back. Fyre was the greatest asset he has had so far. He couldn’t have the Omega running away just because his friend broke his heart. Thankfully, it seemed like that was not the case seeing how Fyre was not being affected by Jonathan at all.
“Now you tell me, why did you make that excuse the other day? Don’t think I forgot about it,” Fyre reminded, indicating that he has not forgotten his original question.
“You’re very difficult to trick, feisty little kitten,” Jonathan chuckled while Fyre only raised another brow, knowing that by calling him by this nickname, the Alpha was trying to avoid his question again. Jonathan looked at Fyre’s reaction and once again he sighed before chuckling.
“Haaa, it can’t be helped,” Jonathan said in the end, leaning his back to the chair. “My family’s been desperate to find me and they know I’m in this country,” Jonathan added, which made Fyre frown.
“Then why don’t you go see them? Don’t let Remi be involved in your family matters.”
“Easier said than done. If I go back now, they will force me to marry Margarette and make me the head of the household, when I’m the third child,” Jonathan said, complaining. Honestly, he already knew from the beginning that he was going to be the head of the family because he was the only son. Even though he was the third child, he was the only son, so the succession was reasonable. However, to succeed this young is what Jonathan didn’t expect. Additionally, he was asked to marry as soon as he succeeded.
Margarette is a beautiful lady, they even dated when they were younger but unlike other women, Margarette has a very dominant personality and wants to be in control in the relationship. She was a perfectionist and possessive, so their relationship didn’t last long and they quickly broke up. But this didn’t leave a good taste on Margarette's lips so she managed to crawl her way towards his parents, …and somehow managed to bring up political marriage.
Jonathan didn’t want that. It was not that he wanted to be in control, it was the fact that there was someone telling him what to do, …and his movement being restricted was simply not his thing. He wanted to be free from all of that. He had followed the rules all his life but he was not going to let those rules be his prison forever.
“Who’s Margarette?” Fyre asked, the frown on his forehead deepened, if possible.
“She’s supposed to be the fiancé that my family chose for me, but I am not going to marry her. Jesus Christ! That woman is a psychopath,” Jonathan replied in frustration.
“That Margarette is the real deal. She climbed her way to the Woods and manipulated them into making Jonathan her husband. The things women do for love,” Tian Zi commented from the side. Of course, he too knew Margarette because Jonathan used to follow him when they were younger and then when they were at the camp for training.
“W-What the hell is wrong with you? You fooled Remi into being your lover and now you have a fiancé? Do you want me to castrate you?” Fyre suddenly burst as he stood up, furiously looking back and forth between the two Alphas. He didn’t care to listen to the part where the Alpha said he wouldn’t marry Margarette, or the part where he said the woman was a psychopath. All Fyre heard was that Jonathan already had a fiancé that had been chosen by his family for him.
“Hey, hey, chill. I said I’m not marrying her and I have not fooled Remi…” Jonathan defended, but was not able to finish his words when Fyre interrupted.
“Yeah, you haven’t fooled her. You just didn’t tell her yet, just like how you haven’t told her your identity,” Fyre added, his eyes wide in rage. But due to his Omega nature, he was not very threatening to either Jonathan or Tian Zi.
“Exactly!” Jonathan replied almost immediately, as if he didn’t care if Fyre was to burst in anger right here, right now.
“That’s fucking bullshit!” Fyre yelled. He was shaking from his outburst when suddenly he felt someone’s hand covering his eyes and soon felt warmth against his back. He was about to struggle away when he realized something very important, …he was being too emotionally invested in the conversation.
“I think I’ll have to go now,” Jonathan excused himself, and then Fyre heard someone walking away, the door open and later close again, leaving nothing but silence in the room. He couldn’t see anything with the palm against his eyes, but he wasn’t afraid. In fact, he felt even more frustrated. His body didn’t even allow him to express his emotions!
“Relax, it’s starting to leak…”
