When the bus finally arrives, the sun had already started to disappear in the horizon. While Avril waited, a light rain appeared, much to her misfortune. There aren't many people inside and Avril takes the opportunity to sit down and breathe for a bit.
She's cold, and combined that with the humidity in the air, she's rather umcomfortable.
At the next stop, the peoples that were left with her all get out and she finds herself alone in the bus, apart from the bus driver.
The raindrops on the windows are tapping gently against it. Avril sinks into her
seat and takes out her headphone, putting her Spotify playlist on shuffle.
Unrequited Love by Thundercat starts playing in her ears.
The gentle voice of the singer with the harmony of the violin is very fitting to the scenery, Avril thinks.
It's lonely.
Avril takes her phone and starts looking for a good angle where it would express 'loneliness'. She could take the opportunity of this feeling to start the project that they were assigned in class. She takes some pictures of the bus with the dim light and all the empty seats. As the bus slows down for the next people to get in, she takes another picture, this time of the raindrops on the window next to her.
The doors open, and as Avril takes the photo, the reflection of someone entering is captured in it. The person is looking down at their phone, face barely brightened by the screen in their left hand. Light blue hair and eyes melting in the soft glow of the night.
Avril looks up from the picture she has just taken, to the person now seated not so far from her. She's a little taken aback by how the shot turned out without wanting to. Avril stares at the person's profile. She stares, maybe too much because the individual looks up from her phone and turn her head toward Avril. For the second time this day, blue eyes meet orange. They look at each others without saying anything for 2 seconds before the girl's eyes widen slightly and looks away, finding her shoes suddenly very interesting. Avril on the other hand is left confused and even a little irritated. Does she look that horrible today ?
It was an exhausting day, but come on, don't widen your eyes at me like that, she thinks to herself with a huff.
Avril refocuses on the her phone, a different song playing now. It's only 5 minutes later that her bus stop is near, so she gets up to wait at the door, holding herself on the metal bar.
She had to wait 20 minutes to arrive at her place.
The bus stops, the door opens and Avril is met with fresh air that hits her face. She exits, starting to walk to where she lives. She removes her headphone to concentrate on the sounds of the city, when she hears footsteps behind her.
