16 hours later:
I closed my eyes, forcing myself to get lost in thought while sitting in the back of the truck. It was all I could do to keep myself calm because mentally I was not okay. I was sweating, my body felt numb, my heart was racing and I literally felt like I was about to throw up.
All bad signs showing how worried I was. What if something happened? What if Mike tried to kill me? What if the mission failed?
"Scott, just relax. It's not so bad" Tim whispered.
"Yes it is, I don't wanna do this man," I quietly replied even though I also did want to do it in order to spy on Mike.
"Ya, I can relate to that," Tim told me.
"Ya, I bet you could. You two are probably just gonna drag us down anyways," Mike yelled.
I got up from my seat with fire in my eyes. "I don't give a damn if we do".
"What did you just say, rookie? Mike asked with a voice full of rage.
"Mike, what he means is we don't all care about this stuff as much as you. Not all of us are willing to do anything for money. We don't all have that messed up drive like you and Kylo!" Tim screamed.
"What did you just say?" Mike angrily asked again as he walked over to Tim, clearly triggered.
"Listen, what drives me, and what drives Kylo are two very different things. So don't you dare even try to compare us!".
"Ya, and yet you're willing to do anything to help him get what he wants?" Tim asked.
Mike lost it, he pulled his gun out and grabbed Tim by the hand, a few seconds later his gun was being pointed on my head!
"You two better stay quiet or else. What did Kylo even do to you?".
"Everything!" I yelled, immediately regretting what I said.
"Why? What did he do?".
I wanted to scream hearing that question. What did Kylo do to me? Ya, I wish I could spit it out.
"Nothing, but if you two are so different, why are you always helping him get what he wants?" I asked.
Mike took his hand off of Tim's shoulder and shrugged in response, "I got my reasons".
I didn't even try to reply to that. Whatever reasons Mike had were stuff I was not interested in. I just went back to my warm seat.
"Hey Tim, thanks for that" I whispered.
Tim smiled through the hole in his mask and gave me a fist bump.
"You guys done? We're here, the museum already closed a while back, so for now, we're good. Just go do what you gotta do," the driver said.
Mike nodded and hopped off the truck followed by the rest of us doing the same. We then made our way to the back exit with the plan being to use it as an entrance because well, who the heck uses the main entrance when robbing a museum.
"Alright, two guards armed by the gates. We gotta deal with them. Scott can do that. You know, just kill them. It's simple," Mike said, grinning.
"What, no! I'm not gonna kill them". "You have to, how else are you gonna deal with them, huh?".
I just ignored Mike and instead pulled out the tranq I had been carrying in my bag. I knew it would help me out on the mission and it really was, it was the best way to get through these situations without having to kill anyone.
If Kylo wasn't giving me a death stare while I was grabbing my weapons earlier, I would have brought it with me to the bank as well. Hence, it was my go-to weapon to use. So without wasting another second, I pulled the trigger and shot the guards, knocking them both out.
"That's how," is what I said prior to ditching Mike and the others. I made my way to the museum after that and once I walked in, my eyes were treated to the scene of a three-story building. Each floor was massive, packed with artifacts worth at least millions, and I was judging that based on what I could see only from the entrance.
Who knew how much bigger the building really was, and with a building of this size, there had to be tons of security. Did Kylo really expect Mike to escape with whatever he needed? It definitely seemed to be the case as seconds later, Mike entered the building with an important announcement.
"Alright guys, start grabbing what you need. Imma go up and see what's there. All of you make sure to stay down here while I'm upstairs".
And with that, Mike was gone. He straight up ditched the rest of us and went upstairs. What surprised me the most, however, was the fact that no one else seemed to care. Everyone just started grabbing any valuable thing they saw just like they were told. Because of this, the alarms had already been set off, which meant the cops would be on their way and the guards would be alerted.
Both of which were not good things to look forward to. So, what did I do? Well, I ignored the alarms, the others and decided to follow Mike instead who was surprisingly on the second floor already.
"Hold it, you're the one trying to rob this place huh," a guard said stopping me while I ran up the stairs. "What no, just chill. Hear me out alright".
"Don't worry, I'm messin with ya. Go ahead," the guard said.
"What?" I asked, confusingly.
"Don't worry, Kylo told me to let you guys go. Not all the guards are with him so you might have trouble later on though".
"Wait, you're with Kylo? Why?" I asked.
"You know, Kylo boutta get rich after he does what he needs the day the mayor gives his speech. That means imma get paid," the guard replied.
What did this mean? Not much but it meant I had gotten info related to what I was after. It was perfect! It was time to squeeze even more intel out this guy.
"What's Kylo gonna do the day the mayor gives his speech?" I asked.
"What do you mean? You're literally here to help him with what he plans on doing. Don't you know?" the guard asked.
"We came here to rob valuable things," I replied knowing full on that wasn't true.
"Well it's nothing, just some random pay check he's gonna get the day the mayor, you know, gives his speech," the guard stuttered.
Bingo. He was a clear liar, went from a confident sellout to a worried pawn. He switched up fast, maybe he thought Kylo told us already? Maybe, me telling him we came here just for valuables may have made him realize he wasn't supposed to say anything about the truth - but it didn't matter, it was too late now. He spat out enough for me.
"Whatever man, just go grab what you have to" he whispered.
I nodded and continued going up the surprisingly steep stairs. I really wanted more info, but trying to do so would make me look suspicious. To be honest, it was fine. I had gotten a massive piece of info anyways. Whatever Graham suspected Kylo was gonna do, would happen the day the mayor gave his speech. Happily knowing this piece of information, I continued running up the stairs.
That is, until I was stopped by yet another guard. At first, I was debating whether or not he was working with Kylo, but there was no point in doing that after his fist collided with my jaw forcing my knees down on the cold hard floor.
"Eh, just like the others. You break easily, now you're done," the guard said. I tried to talk to him, but as I suspected, he wasn't gonna listen. So, the next time he came towards me. I grabbed his fist stopping him, I then swept his leg causing him to go down. Honestly, I was really hoping he would stay down, but of course, that didn't happen.
He instead got up and came straight towards me, tackling me. After that, he started moving his hand towards his gun. I knew it would be bad if I let him take it out so I went over and pushed him to the ground, thankfully knocking his gun out of the holster. Immediately after that, I followed up by going down towards him, elbowing him as hard as I possibly could, finally knocking him out cold.
I was glad it was over, but due to how much time had been wasted, I immediately ran up the stairs without looking back until I made it to the third floor. Once I got there, I saw Mike run into a room with a large metal door that read, "do not open".
He ran in with a small bag that looked empty. What was going on? No idea. All I knew was Mike was doing something dumb. The room he walked into had to have something dangerous right? Well, my question was about to be answered because Mike soon ran out the room with something in his bag.
He didn't spend another second on the third floor and instead used a different staircase to make his way downstairs. BOOM! Suddenly, out of nowhere the power went out. The lights turned off, the alarms stopped ringing and everything else that required power had been shut down. Why? I didn't know but maybe Mike had something to do with it. No matter what, I would have to figure it out.
So, I quickly ran inside the very room that made it clear I shouldn't do so. What did I see? A very small area with wires, broken glass everywhere, and an empty stand with a label that read,
"Museum power supply".
I tried to piece everything together and from what I could see, I suspected Mike stole the power supply. That would explain the empty stand with the label and the shattered glass laid around the room. The only thing that confused me was, why would Kylo want the museum power supply? All I knew was the museum was one of the biggest buildings in the city, which meant it probably had one of the biggest power supplies in the city.
Is that why Mike stole it? Did Kylo need to fuel something he was gonna use the day the mayor gave his speech? If so, why the heck would he need such a big source of power? If he really needed something like the museum's power supply, then that meant he had big plans. It meant what he was gonna do could be even bigger than Graham suspected. That meant this entire mission would be bigger than Graham suspected, and even Graham suspected this would be huge!
Just what the heck was Kylo gonna do. All of a sudden, I heard Mike yelling,
"Damn it, where the heck is Scott? It's time to leave!".
Of course, I totally forgot about Mike and the others. Why would I remember something so important? "Coming!" I yelled as I ran down the staircase pushing my legs to the absolute limit. I continued to do so until I finally made it to the bottom floor.
Once I was there, my eyes were blinded by blinking lights. I could barely see at the time, but once my vision cleared up a bit, I saw the source of the light. It was coming from some cars, not just any cars though - cop cars.
The police had arrived already and everyone I came with had been thrown in. Knowing the cops wouldn't arrest me, I openly ran towards them looking nervous just so they could cuff me and keep the act going.
I was actually about to go to one of the cops but instead, Graham came up to me.
"So, you got any info?" he asked.
Relieved, I slowly told him everything he needed to know. Once that was done, he threw me in one of the cars next to Tim and Mike.
"Well, that was messed up," Tim said.
"Don't worry, we're not gonna stay here for long" Mike whispered. "Wait, where did the bags go?" I asked. Mike softly smiled.
"Don't worry, I know where they are. I'll get them back and get us outta this mess."
