Adrien's POV
"The leaves are beautiful, don't you think?" Luka asked, hands shoved into his jacket pockets as we walked out of the art building, our painting class finished for the day.
"Yeah, they really are," I nodded with a smile. The trees all over campus were painted in red, orange, and yellow, and it was just so pretty. Watching the leaves fall off the trees and dance gracefully onto the ground was one of my favourite parts about autumn, besides all the pretty colours.
The first day of autumn was only a few days ago, and so the weather had gotten a bit colder, but not too cold just yet. But I always enjoyed the cold weather during autumn, because it was fun to wear knitted sweaters and cozy up inside with your favourite hot drink. Also, the pumpkin spice latte was finally back in season, and it was my favourite drink ever.
"I always love the fall. It's my favourite season, and it's not just because of Halloween," Luka chuckled, the strands of his dirty blonde hair dancing with the gentle breeze, "I just always love the colours, and it always gives me inspiration to paint something."
"Yeah, I agree with you there," I hummed, "Fall and spring are my two favourite seasons. They're just so colourful, and I love painting with colour. But I also love winter...because the snow is pretty and it's very festive."
Luka laughed, a charming smile on his face, "yeah, that's true, I just wish it wasn't so damn cold in the winter."
I smiled crookedly. The two of us fell into a brief, but comfortable silence. We walked side by side, my arm occasionally brushing up against his by our close proximity. I couldn't help but look around, admiring the autumn scenery and the livelihood of campus grounds. It was all too wonderful.
"Did you maybe want to head back to my dorm with me?" I broke the silence and glanced up at Luka, "we can have lunch at my dorm."
"I'd love to," Luka glanced down at me and smiled, his eyes meeting mine. I smiled back at him softly, gazing at his vibrant hazel eyes for a moment, before I looked away, a light blush to my cheeks.
When we reached the residential building, we walked inside and headed up the elevators to my floor. I unlocked the door once we reached my apartment dorm and walked inside, Luka following me in.
"Wow, it's pretty nice in here," Luka commented. He kicked off his shoes and hung his jacket up on the hook.
"Thanks. My roommates and I found the space to be a bit bare and empty, so we jazzed it up a bit," I replied as I hung up my jacket. I placed my bag on the floor by the door and headed into the kitchen. Luka followed suit, "Karsten and I hung up some of our art, Luella brought in some pillows and blankets for the couches, and Faryn hung up the fairy lights."
"Well, you guys did a good job," Luka laughed, leaning against the kitchen counter. I smiled and wandered to the fridge.
"What did you want for lunch?" I asked, opening the fridge as I looked inside.
Luka shrugged, "I'll have anything you have, really."
"Hmm...what about, grilled cheese? And fries?" I laughed, looking up from the fridge and glanced over at Luka sheepishly. He smirked.
"Grilled cheese and fries it is."
I grabbed the cheese, butter, and the loaf of bread, setting the items onto the counter. Luka grabbed the skillet, cheese grater, and a knife for me, all the while I preheated the oven and then proceeded to start making the grilled cheese.
Luka started grating the cheese. I buttered both sides of four slices of bread, and once that was done, Luka sprinkled the cheese onto the bread and put the slices together to make two sandwiches. While I put the first sandwich into the skillet and started cooking it on top of the stove, Luka put the fries into the oven on a baking tray.
While I was cooking the grilled cheese, Luka decided to connect his phone to the Bluetooth speaker that we had sitting on the kitchen counter, the song Lips On You by Maroon 5 started to play. As I flipped the grilled cheese in the skillet, I gasped as Luka grabbed onto my hand, turning me around to face him.
"Dance with me," Luka said, a charming smile on his face as he looked down at me.
"But the grilled cheese is going to burn," I said, a light blush coating my cheeks.
Luka hummed. One hand was holding my waist, while his other reached behind me and lowered the heat of the burner. He then spoke up in a softened tone, "No it won't...just dance with me for a minute."
I blinked, blushing harder as his face was inches away from mine. I bit my lip, pausing before I nodded.
"Okay, fine," I said.
Luka smiled, he took a couple of steps back, only to pull me with him. I nearly bumped into him, but he stopped me before I could, his arm wrapping around my waist while his other hand took my hand.
My face was on fire, and my heart pounded against my chest as Luka guided me around the kitchen, swaying and dancing to the music. Luka was so close, that I could feel his warmth radiating off of him, and the smell of his cologne warped my senses. I couldn't help but hyper-focus on the feeling of his arm around my waist, and my hand snug in his. Luka completely took over all of my senses, to the point all I could focus on was him.
And when I lifted my head, I noticed that he had been looking down at me, watching me. Our gazes locked, and I couldn't look away, despite my embarrassment. As I said, he completely took over all of my senses—touch, sight, hearing, smell...
Luka pulled away from me slightly, his hand firmly holding mine as he spun me around before pulling me back to him. I gasped as his hands touched my thighs and lifted me into his arms, legs locking around his waist, arms around his neck. I couldn't help but laugh as he held me and spun the both of us around, a wide smile on my face.
"You're such a goof," I said. Luka grinned.
"Am I?" He asked, head tilted. He walked me over to the kitchen counter and set me down onto the counter. I nodded and smiled.
"Yeah, you are," I reached up and brushed some of his hair out of his face. Luka hummed.
"You're also a goof..." Luka said, hands on either side of me on the counter. He had leaned in, his face inches close to mine again.
"Yeah?" I breathed, voice lowered as I stared at him. My heart pounded in my chest as he stared back fondly.
"Yeah," His voice was also lowered. His eyes flickered down to my lips for a moment, and my breath hitched. Luka leaned in closer, and I let him, his lips mere centimetres from mine—
The sound of keys jingling rang in my ears. Seconds later, the front door opened, and Karsten stepped inside the apartment suite. Luka quickly pulled away from me, the moment gone, leaving my cheeks blazing hot as we snapped our gazes to Karsten.
Karsten froze when he saw us, saw how red my cheeks were, how I was sitting on the kitchen counter, and how close Luka had just been to me. I quickly hopped off the counter, and Luka turned off the music.
"Oh—shit! Sorry! I just came back to grab my drawing tablet—I didn't mean to interrupt you guys," Karsten said, looking embarrassed.
"Oh, uhm, don't worry about it!" I shook my head. I suddenly remembered the grilled cheese, and quickly moved to the stove, "you didn't interrupt anything; we were just making lunch. That's all."
"Yeah—we're having grilled cheese," Luka chuckled, smiling at Karsten, "care to join us?"
"As much as I would love to, I'm supposed to at my class right now, and I only came back for my tablet," Karsten smiled apologetically, "perhaps another time?"
"Yeah, another time," Luka nodded and smiled.
Karsten grabbed his drawing tablet from his bedroom, and after saying goodbye to Luka and I (and after giving me a playful wink), he walked out the front door.
The rest of lunch with Luka was a bit quiet. We didn't talk about what just happened, and he seemed to just go back to where normal, and pick up a conversation with me as if the moment between us never happened in the first place. I didn't say anything either.
We ate our grilled cheese and fries in the living room and just talked for the next couple of hours, everything from art to our personal lives, and any other details. I was a bit surprised how quickly Luka seemed to have bounced back and forgotten our little moment, but perhaps he was trying to figure things out in that head of his, so I didn't want to try and push it and make things awkward.
I was an awkward person, so I would definitely make things awkward if I opened my mouth.
After Luka left with a wave and a smile, I closed the door behind him, leaving me alone in my quiet apartment dorm with my loud thoughts. I couldn't help but sit on the floor with my back to the front door, wondering what this all meant for me, and what I wanted from it.
What did I want?
