Of course, there were still more roadblocks, it was like the universe just wanted to fuck with Suzu.
Suzu sighed, waiting for the inevitable excuse that Suzu couldn’t come over. And it was fine. He probably needed to make some phone calls anyway…
“Désolé, je suis trop fatigué après mon long voyage. De plus, je pense que j'ai fini avec notre affaire. Dites ce que vous voulez. Ce sont toutes des menaces vides pour moi, Noah. Non. Au revoir.”
Saku put his phone away and kept walking, still holding on to Suzu’s arm.
Why… hadn’t he said anything yet?
“Um, do you need to go see your, uh...Noah?”
“My Noah?” Saku snorted in amusement, “God if he heard that…”
Saku shook his head and looked up at Suzu with a sincere smile on his face.
“You don’t need to worry. I told you, you were—are—the only man I’ve ever loved. Noah wants to own me and I’ll admit, I was close to giving in and just letting him...I mean the guy is loaded. I’m talking like, owns a summer house in the French countryside and—”
“I get the picture. He has the means to give you everything you want,” Suzu all but grumbled.
Saku smiled and nudged him, “but then the universe had a different idea by putting you back into my life. Which is the one thing I really needed.”
“Oh…”
Saku gave him a gentle squeeze, “So I told him we were done.”
“Just like that?”
“Hey, if you can cancel an entire wedding over me, I can easily dump a fling for you.”
A lot of different thoughts went through Suzu’s head at that moment. But rather than argue with Saku, he stopped and pulled the redhead close.
“So does this mean that you and I…”
A playful smirk danced on Saku’s face, “Are reunited? Happily, so it seems.”
“But what does that mean?”
Saku had a thoughtful look on his face before he leaned up, his lips brushing against Suzu’s, “Let’s figure out what it means later, together, hm?”
Suzu felt his heart flutter at that. Nine years apart and yet, at this moment, it was as if they could fall back into each other’s lives perfectly.
He knew it would take more than that—they still had to learn about each other all over again—but something told Suzu that it would work out.
Perhaps the universe wasn’t out to totally screw him after all.
Suzu gave Saku a gentle tug, bringing the redhead close to him and kissed him sweetly. Something he just wanted to do over and over again. But the redhead pulled away with a laugh to continue their trek down the street.
“You know, I know I said I wasn’t asking you to sleep with me but just know, the offer is there.”
“Seriously, Saku?”
“What? Like it hadn’t crossed your mind when we were in that car earlier today.”
Suzu’s cheeks turned bright red, “W-What? No!”
“Uh-huh. We’ll see if you’re still denying it after I cook for you.”
Saku squeezed his hand again, giving him a flirtatious wink. And Suzu happily followed him. Because this time, he had no intention of letting go.
