It's already pitch black when Avril comes back from school. As expected the day was long and boring, but she survived, and can now rest in peace on her couch.
She opens her front door and takes off her shoes. She swings her bag next to the tiny table in front of her door, and goes into her living room.
Her apartment doesn't have a lot of supplies, she just has a small couch, TV, and table.
It's empty.
She walks to her balcony's window. Outside she can hear people having fun, going around bistros all night with friends. Since she entered terminal, she has the impression of no longer having a social life. Of course, there's still her group that she talks to every day, but they, too, are drowning in homework, and they don't really go out on weekends anymore. Chasing each other in the street, taking night buses without knowing where they were going. She didn't tell them but she missed that terribly.
Avril looked up, staring at her reflection in the glass.
She would like to find a flame of excitement in her life again.
Just behind her, a shadow stares back at her in the mirror.
Avril stares at it without realizing what it is. But when her brain registers that it is not her reflection, she turns around violently, and bangs her head against the glass when rocking backwards.
There is nobody.
Of course there is no one, you are alone in your apartment. She takes her head in her hand. It will surely have a bump tomorrow.
For a moment she thought she was not alone in her house. But if there really was anyone, she would have seen them when she turned around.
I must be really tired.
As a precaution, she returns to her front door and locks it.
The fact that someone might break into her house is really unpleasant.
On her table, there is her little radio, a gift from her parents for her birthday. It's a modern radio but with a retro look.
She turns on the radio and puts on music to calm her heart, which had sent her enough adrenaline to beat a bear with her bare hands.
She sits on her sofa.
Avril takes a breath, then releases the air after 3 seconds.
The stress of high school must surely make me see things.
So I read it all and I can say it looks like it has potential, you still need to practice on your English, but since that is the reason behind this, just keep on writing, as a non-native speaker trying to write a novel in English I know there is a lot of effort behind it, you can read my work if you want to and talk to me if you need any help, good luck bro
Ghosts, angry spirits, demons, and many other names, are known around the world by absolutely everyone. Lots of people say they have seen, heard, and even photographed or taken videos of a ghost. Yet there are still skeptics who do not believe in it.
This is the case of Avril, 19, who never believed in them. But when weird things start to happen in her tiny apartment, she can only remember that radio show that talkes about paranormals from 6 to 7:30 p.m..
