Steven POV
*Two months later*
I’ve been skipping gym class since the event in the forest and the alpha didn’t try to get me to attend his classes. He didn’t contact Penelope about my repeated absences either. “You know, you can’t avoid him for the rest of the year…”
“Funny how you say that when you’re the one who acted like a goddamn omega in heat!”
“Oh, common! I told you I didn’t know what had happened. Quit using that as an excuse or an insult!”
“You are not the one who would have to cope with the shame if I went to his classes.”
“Well…”
“Shut up! I will not go. End of discussion.”
“You do know that you won’t pass if you fail a class right? And I don’t think that Sebastian will give you a grade for doing nothing.”
“Don’t call him that!”
“What? Sebastian? It’s his name!”
“Just don’t, okay?”
“Fuck you! I will call him whatever I want to call him. The problem isn’t there anyway. You will fail if you don’t attend PE classes.”
“Yeah, okay. Fine! I’ll go see him after class.”
“But we have drama club tonight.”
“Whatever, he’s a teacher, he should stay late at school.”
“That’s not how it works but fine.”
“Hey, Steven! How are you doing?”
“Oh, Celia.”
“Oh my god!” Why is she yelling? Her voice is way too high-pitched. “You actually said my name!” Fuck, now she’ll think I give a fuck about her. “I knew you actually cared about me!”
“Say, did you practice this loud, annoying, slut attitude or is it actually natural?”
“Hahaha, you’re so funny, Stevie! Here, I cooked you dinner!” Really? Her cooking is delicious! It almost makes up for her shitty personality. “No Steven. If you continue accepting her gifts, you’ll give her hope.”
“Yeah true.”
“Thank you, Alice, but I already have lunch.”
“Haha, Alice is my friend’s name. Are you sure Stevie?”
“Yes, and stop calling me Stevie. It’s annoying.” I grumbled, really tired of her.
“But I’ve cooked some lamb. It’s your favourite,” She hummed. All my good resolutions were gone in a second. It’s been so long she didn’t cook lamb! “Steven, don’t you dare!”
“Fine, I’ll take your food this time. But it’s the last time.” I faked my grumpiness as I accepted the meal neatly packed in a colourful fabric. I’m having lamb for dinner! “You stupid ass. Fucking stomach on legs. She won’t let us alone if you continue giving up this easily.”
“But it’s lamb!”
“And yesterday it was hot and sour soup and the day before it was ribs.”
. . .
“Man, today’s practice was hard! And on top of that, the teacher just let me clean everything. How lazy can he be?” I whined, my throat feeling like I just ate sand.
“And you still need to talk about the situation with Sebastian.”
“Can I go tomorrow? Pen texted me, my uncle started coughing blood again.”
“He’s been coughing blood for almost two months now. Just go talk to your teacher, it’ll be done and you will be able to go see our alpha.”
“Our uncle, Bullet. Why do you call the gym teacher by his name but our own uncle by his title?”
“Ah look, it seems like Sebastian is still there! There is light coming from his office.”
Bullet, or the art of changing the subject faster than lightning. Except, this time, he was right. The light was coming from the door, slightly opened. As I got closer, I could hear him talk more and more clearly. His voice made me want to run away, but I controlled myself. It seems like he’s on the phone. “Philip, I told you to relax, I got it. Everything goes as planned.” He paused, listening to his interlocutor. “Dude, relax! No the event with my student will not change the plan.” he continued, insisting on the words ‘my student’. “Yes I know he’s his nephew. It’s not important, stop it!” Sebastian took a few breaths, calming down. “Anyways, the alpha doesn’t have much time left. He’s been coughing a lot lately. Yeah, okay. I’ll double his dose just to be sure. Man, the poison was supposed to be faster than this with a lot smaller dose.” Wait, what? I felt my blood freeze in my veins as I retreated, tripping in my own foot. Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck. I’m dead. “Who is this?” The alpha asked. Without thinking any further, I took off, only caring about the life of my pack. I’m definitely dead.
