Bex had to jump out of the way as Nora outstretched her hand and a bolt of lightning flashed down to the ground and struck three vampires who were previously holding on to Bex. The sky rumbled to life and Joan flinched as the loudest crash of thunder she had ever heard rattled the car windows.
“What the hell is going on,” Rooney looked out the window as everyone was frozen, wondering what to do.
“Is that… Nora?” Joan’s voice cracked.
“It’s Destiny!” Darci pointed as she and Jaden leaned forward in the back seat.
“Go!” Jaden shouted at Joan.
Joan took a deep breath before flooring it over to Lyssa who now held Destiny in her arms, running the girl to safety.
“What are you doing here!?” Lyssa yelled at her.
“I’m sorry,” Destiny cried, still in pain from the bones that are surely fractured in her neck.
“You could have been killed!”
“I wanted to save Nora!”
Lyssa came to a halt in front of the car.
“Destiny!” Darci and Jaden ran out of the car.
“She’s hurt,” Lyssa set her down on the ground.
“What’s going on?” Joan ran over to her.
“You tell me! What are you all doing here!? What is that!” Lyssa pointed at Nora.
“I don’t know, I thought it was something you did.” Joan said.
“Me!? She was like this already.”
“No she wasn’t!”
“She was!”
“Guys! Focus,” Mike ran up to them, Annalee and Garret close behind him.
They all flinched when another loud crash of thunder made their ears pop.
“Where’s Rebecca?” Kitch ran up to them.
“I told you not to come!” Lyssa shouted at him.
“We don’t take orders, we vote, remember?” Vinny appeared.
Lyssa sighed.
“A little help here!” Bex shouted at everyone as she fought off vampires trying to get to Nora.
They all turned just as a vampire finally tackled Nora out of the sky.
Nora slammed into the ground hard, skidding to a stop.
“Nora!” Joan ran in to help her, but Nora was more than okay.
She blasted that vampire to kingdom come and once again floated into the sky.
“She’s,” Bex shoved a vampire out of the way. “Possessed.” She finally made her way over to Joan.
“Really, what gave it away? Was it the eyes of darkness, or the fact that she can fly!?” Rooney ran over to them.
Nora cried out in pain as she held her head. They all turned to her.
“No, stop!” Nora cried out.
“What’s wrong?” Joan asked.
“I don’t know,” Rooney said.
“No!” Nora begged.
“She’s losing control,” Bex said.
“We have to knock her out,” Lyssa ran over to them.
“I’m on it,” Aron called as he got out his staff.
“NO!” Nora shouted blasting everyone back.
Bex’s back hit the sword that was stuck in the ground. She cried out in pain and rolled away from its silver blade.
Everyone grew silent as Nora started to laugh.
“Nora?” Joan got up and moved towards her.
“Not exactly,” Nora said.
“Who are you!?” Joan demanded.
“Get out of our daughter!” Rooney shouted.
“Oh, how I have waited for this day for so long. You locked me up, but now I will finally get my revenge.”
Joan and Rooney shared a confused look.
“Attic, what was in the attic, Nora went in there!” Bex called to them.
“The attic!?” Joan and Rooney said at the same time.
“Still need a refresher, how about this!” Nora blasted them back again.
“Jinn, it’s the Jinn!” Joan declared.
“What!?” Lyssa and Bex said in unison.
“You’ve got to be kidding me,” Aron said.
“Nora you have to fight it!” Rooney called.
“Sorry but Nora’s not home!” they shot lightning at Rooney.
Rooney was hit dead on and knocked out cold.
“Roo!” Joan ran over to her.
“Lyssa, we have to stop her,” Bex said.
“You have bigger problems to worry about,” A vampire appeared behind Bex and grabbed her in a chock hold.
“Get away from her!” Lyssa ran to help.
“For fuck’s sake,” Aron used his staff to place a bubble around Nora.
“Dad, let’s do a grounding spell, to at least stop her from flying,” Ross said.
“Good idea. Juelz can you handle that?” Aron asked her.
“Just because I’m a girl doesn’t mean my magic isn’t as good as yours,” she snapped at him.
“Just do it!” Ross called.
“Are you crazy?” Darci shouted at Destiny as they pulled her to the car.
“I wanted to help.”
“It’s your fault for not preparing her,” Jaden yelled at her.
“We are not having this discussion right now.” Darci snapped at him.
“Attack!” Kitch ordered as the army of vampires surrounded Bex and Lyssa.
Mike and Annalee ran over to help Joan and Rooney.
Everything was in complete chaos.
Bex was thrown into a tree where she sat for a moment to regain her bearings. She watched helplessly as vampires attacked each other. As Nora got ready to kill her parents. As Darci and Jaden shouted at each other with Destiny injured next to them. While Aron and his students in magic prepared a spell to take down Nora. While Joan cradled an unconscious Rooney in her arms.
Then she looked down at herself. Beaten, battered, bruised. Tired. She was so tired. She couldn’t help but wonder for a moment if this was all her fault. If she had never fallen in love with Lyssa, would any of this be happening right now?
Bex struggled to get to her feet, her arms shaking in fatigue. Her eyes darted around, debating on who to help, what to do, what needed to be done first. She quickly made up her mind as Nora overpowered the spell and blasted Ross, Aron, and Juelz back. She watched Nora float over to Joan and look at her with those pitch-black eyes.
Annalee tackled Nora but she too got struck with lightning and with a loud yelp fell unconscious, Mike caught her and the two fell to the ground.
“Mom!” Garret cried as he ran over to her.
Bex ran full speed, jumping into the air and landing on Nora.
Without hesitation, she bit down on Nora’s neck and began to drain her blood.
Nora quickly passed out from blood loss and the two fell from the sky hard into the ground.
Bex just laid there for a moment, blinking at the sky and trying to stop her vision from spinning. She got up and suddenly feeling empowered, more empowered than she ever felt she turned her attention to the army of vampires.
Joan watched as black blood dripped down from Bex’s lip.
“Stop!” Bex shouted then she slammed her fist onto the ground.
The ground rumbled and cracked in several places causing everyone to stop and turn her away.
“Enough, retreat!” Bex called.
Kitch and Lyssa shared a look before they ran to help everyone escape.
Bex stared down their leader, daring him to make a move. He stared back, and watched as one by one they all escaped until Lyssa came back for Bex.
“Let’s go my love.” Lyssa grabbed her hand.
Bex wiped her mouth with her arm and grabbed Lyssa’s hand before the two ran off together. Bex and Lyssa were the first back at Joan’s house. Bex doubled over and vomited into the lawn. Lyssa kneeled down next to her.
“What happened, what was that?” Lyssa asked.
“I drank her blood,” Bex spat, spittle blood dripping past her lips.
“Are you okay?”
Bex vomited again. “Do I look okay?” Bex snapped at her.
Lyssa sighed and rubbed her back.
“You know we only delayed the inevitable. If Nora hadn’t gone psycho we’d be toast by now.” Bex said.
“I know.” Lyssa sighed.
“Lyssa, what are we going to do?” Bex looked at her.
“Whatever it takes,” Lyssa wiped her mouth for her.
Bex whimpered and hugged Lyssa, burying her head into the vampire’s shoulder. Lyssa held tightly, afraid to let go for even a second.
