“Are you mad!? You can’t just give up.” Cedric spat at Lyssa.
“I must! Too many people have gotten hurt already. We must end this before another war is upon us.”
“If you do this all those deaths would have been for nothing!”
“If I don’t do this, how much more will it take? When will it end? Who else will we lose? Enough is enough. A war between vampires is the last thing anyone wants. You know it, they know it, and I know it. We can’t let it come to this.”
“This doesn’t feel right,” Rhonda said.
“There will be no guarantee that they leave after your death,” Kitch added.
“I’ve made up my mind. I’ll surrender, all of you need to go into hiding. After my death, things will die down. You’ll be able to live in peace after a few years.”
“Valyssa you can’t,” Vinny begged.
“I must, it’s not just us. My family… my human family, they are all in danger because of me. My goddaughter. I must. I cannot live with myself if any of them were to get hurt. I draw the line here. You may not agree with it, but it’s my choice. I only came here to tell you to go on the run and spread the word that our pack is disbanded.”
All the vampires looked around, a dreary helpless feeling in the air.
“No one better follow me,” Lyssa said seriously before she vanished out the door.
“Are we seriously just going to let this happen!?” Vinny asked.
“No,” Kitch said staring out the door.
“What do we do?” Cali asked.
“We go to war.” Kitch turned to everyone.
The air was thick, tense. The weight those words carried weighed on all of their shoulders.
“Once we do this, we can’t go back.” An elder woman vampire, Haren said.
“We vote on it,” Vinny said.
“Let’s make this simple, all in favor of letting Valyssa get herself killed and running like cowards say I,” Cedric said.
No one said anything.
“That’s what I thought.” He smirked.
“Well, now what?” Cali asked.
“I know where to start, follow me.” Kitch moved to leave.
“Where are we going?”
“To Valyssa’s human family, like us, there is no way they will stand for this. They are resilient and a force to be reckoned with. I should know, I fought them before. They will help us. Together, we can win.”
All the vampires nodded in understanding and followed Kitch out the door to Joan’s house.
Lyssa arrived at the old abandon hotel, alone.
Or so she thought.
Because not too far away Destiny got out of an uber and began to follow her GPS the rest of the way to the hotel she knew Nora was at.
“This is so dumb, Nora, you so owe me one,” Destiny grumbled to herself.
“Come out!” Lyssa demanded.
Destiny flinched and ducked down as she came upon the old hotel and laid eyes on Lyssa.
“Coming alone? Wise choice,” A vampire in a cloak suddenly appeared.
Destiny used Lyssa’s distraction to sneak around the back and find another way in.
“I’m surrendering myself for Rebecca and Nora.” Lyssa declared.
The Vampire laughed and soon Lyssa was surrounded.
“Fine then,” Lyssa said in defeat. “At least let the girl go, you have what you want. She has nothing to do with this.”
“Very well,” he gave the signal and another vampire walked off to go get Nora.
“How does it feel to know all was for not?” He asked Lyssa.
Destiny went to a back door and pulled on it. It opened but as it did, an alarm started to go off.
Lyssa flinched and turned to look.
“Idiot,” The vampire cursed.
“I’ll go turn it off,” another vampire ran to go do so.
“Good help is hard to find,” he sighed.
“Shoot,” Destiny quickly ran inside to go hide.
She ran into a back room where laundry and trash were taken. She quickly ducked behind a big trash bin.
The two vampires met up.
“What are you doing, you know not to use the back door.” The one that came in through the back said.
“It wasn’t me, I thought it was you.”
“It wasn’t me.”
“Then who was it?”
Destiny cringed and tried to tiptoe out of the backroom to the open door the other vampire just came through.
Her shoe scuffed against the floor and both vampires turned to her.
She screamed and quickly tried to run away.
One appeared in front of her, the other behind.
“She’s human.” One noted.
“A child.” The other added.
“I’m sorry, don’t hurt me,” Destiny pleaded.
“Ah!” a vampire came flying through the air and landed in the trash bin.
All three turned.
“Come on,” Bex dragged Nora by her hand as they ran for safety.
“Nora!”
“Destiny!?”
Bex halted in her steps.
“Get them!” both vampires ran in to stop Bex.
“It was a trap!”
Bex kicked one vampire in the chin sending him flying and grab the other by the arm and flipped him to the ground.
“Go! Get out of here!” Bex yelled at them.
“Come on!” Nora grabbed Destiny’s hand and began to run out.
By the time they got to the back door, it was blocked by several more vampires.
Nora looked back and forth, squeezing Destiny’s hand.
Bex ran over to them, getting the sword out and pointing it outward to push back the vampires.
“Come on,” Bex slipped past them, helping them get out.
“What is the meaning of this!?”
“Rebecca!”
“Lyssa!”
“Destiny what are you doing here!?” Nora whispered.
“I came to save you.”
“Are you crazy!?”
“Yes!”
“Destiny?” Lyssa eyed the girl in confusion.
You lied to us!” vampires surrounded them.
“No!” Lyssa tired.
Two vampires held Lyssa back as several went to tackle Bex to the ground.
Bex tried to fight them off but she was greatly outnumbered. The sword got thrown far away, landing and sticking into the ground.
Bex cried out as they shoved her face hard into the ground.
A vampire swooped and grabbed Destiny by the throat.
“She was trying to sneak in through the back, it was a trap.” The vampire explained.
Destiny coughed and flailed around in the air, choking.
“Destiny!” Nora tried to reach for her, but a vampire grabbed her and held her back.
“No! It wasn’t! She came on her own. It’s a misunderstanding! Don’t hurt her!” Lyssa pleaded.
“Kill her.” He ordered.
“No!” Bex cried out.
“Please! Listen, I swear, this wasn’t a ruse. Don’t!” Lyssa begged.
Destiny’s coughs came fewer and far between as her face turned purple. Nora was close enough to hear bones cracking. Her eyes went wide with shock.
“No!” Bex cried out, her eyes burning a bright red.
Bex started to stand up, even with five vampires on her holding her down.
“Do it! Kill her now!”
“Stop it!” Bex cried out.
“Leave her alone!” Nora cried out, everyone got blown back by her power.
Destiny rolled out of the guy’s grasp and coughed and gasped for air.
Lyssa ran over to her.
Bex looked up in surprise at Nora.
“Stop it! Stop hurting people!” Nora held her head as tears streamed down her face.
“Lyssa,” Bex said in alarm as Nora floated into the air.
“I see it.” Lyssa eyed the scene.
“What the hell,” one of the other vampires said.
“Nora!” Destiny called out to her.
Bex watched in alarm as Nora’s eyes turned pitch black and her floating form looked down on all of them.
“Vampires playing gods,” Nora said but her voice sounded off, warped.
Bex knew then and there that Nora wasn’t the one talking.
“Hurting and controlling all that they can. Funny. I think you should be taught what real gods look like. You want to kill the people I love, let’s see how you feel when I kill all of you!”
Clouds rolled in and lightning and electricity filled the sky and shot down into Nora’s hands.
“Jesus,” Lyssa said.
“Holy crap,” Bex said.
“Nora no!” Destiny called.
“Kill her!”
Soon vampires began charging Nora left and right.
As Joan pulled up to the scene her jaw dropped as she watched her own daughter begin to rain hell on the army of vampires below.
