Many days passed and Hazel was yet to find her mate. She couldn’t understand why she hadn’t met her mate yet. She was 16, 16 was the age where every Neko met their mate. Hazel knew something was up but she didn’t know what. She gave up searching for her mate, the spark of excitement she had was long gone and replaced with a miserable yearn for her mate.
Hazel was too upset and was slowly beginning to lose the will to live. It’s what happened when Neko’s didn’t meet their mates when they were 16. Hazel knew what happened to those Neko’s. They never made it to their 17th Birthday. Hazel didn’t want to die, she wanted to live but how could she without her mate?
Also in the back of her head, Hazel was beginning to get the nagging feeling that her mate was not in her world. That he may be in the human world. Hazel didn’t want to acknowledge that being a possibility because she knew what happened to Nekos who knew their mate was not of their world and had to leave to find them never to return or be seen again. Hazel knew her mate could be a human but she didn’t want to believe it just yet. She knew she should have found her mate by now but didn’t want to admit it. She wanted to find her mate in the Neko world and prove her inner thoughts wrong so she wouldn’t have to do anything drastic in order to find her soul mate.
Hazel could see all the strange looks she was getting from others. They knew she was 16 and mate less. She heard them whispering about her behind her back. She wanted to say something to defend herself against them but she couldn’t because the whispers didn’t lie. She was 16 and hadn’t found her mate, if she didn’t find him soon then she would die.
As if it is up to me. It’s not my fault that I haven’t found my mate. It won’t be my fault when I die either if I don’t find him but what can I do? I’ve looked everywhere for him, this world isn’t very big, we are a small knit community, I know every Neko on the planet. I’ve come into contact with all of them since I turned 16 yet none of them is my mate. Hazel thought to herself. My mate is not here.
Hazel didn’t realise she was being watched as she walked down a school corridor. She was too busy fretting over not having found her mate to realise until it was too late and she was grabbed by her wrist and led to an empty classroom.
Hazel had finally come to her senses and was surprised to see the perpetrator was Casper.
“Casper?” Hazel asked in surprise. She was about to ask her friend what he was doing but she didn’t get the chance to when she felt his lips land on hers.
