Aphrodite’s POV
Finally got my hands on my paperwork. And like what I expected, it’s already a lot. I was gone for almost a day and I have stack and stack of papers on my table.
Why do humans fall in love in a matter of seconds? Fast!!!
I looked at the window and saw how modern the mortal world is. I just noticed how advanced humans are. But still, some of them are scared of finding their soulmates.
That’s where I enter the picture.
I got a paper on my table right now, so the next human is named Henry Buck. He’s been single for a while but got several flings that I didn’t know. Just to explain it, I don’t decide on flings, that was part of human stupidity to think fling is like love. Disgusting.
So Henry here has a childhood friend, if I remember correctly, she had a crush on him in their high school days. But she chooses to focus on studying rather than follow her feelings. Well, a wise decision I must say
And Henry here is actually in love with her, and he just can’t bring himself to confess after she discovered his flings?
Tsk.
A bit more conflicted than I imagined. Henry, you stupid goat. Why would you go on several dates without waiting for my plan? 10% plus on my stress today.
I watched while my fingers produced long red thread like that flowing into the window, and to the outside.
I was thinking that maybe Henry and the girl he likes will meet somewhere along with their hometown, a high school reunion maybe? Some classmates will tell them to just be a couple? Well, that’s not bad. But it's too easy, hmm. I tugged my ring finger so the thread won’t continue to that plan.
Or maybe an accidental encounter at the train station, Henry will then decide to confess? Was that too cheesy? Hmmm. Well, he doesn't like any public show of affection, so maybe a private meeting? Nah, I slowly withdraw the thread on my thumb, that’s not a good idea.
What if a company partnership and they will meet there. Fall in love once again with each other.
Yeah, that’s dreamy. Henry wanted her, and he wanted to change.
Right, I’ll go on that plan. I let go of the other threads and they disappeared.
I pulled the final thread from my right ring finger and tied it into the hole on Henry’s paper.
The paper suddenly moved and transformed into a small dove and flew outside the window. My decision might change, once The Fates have another plan.
That little dove will go straight to them, Clotho, Lachesis, and Atropos are the Three Fates. They controlled the life and destiny of everyone.
It was so heartbreaking before, I actually got attached to a certain human a hundred years ago, because his life wasn’t the best. I got involved with him to the point that I questioned The Fates' decision. But you don’t question them. It’s forbidden to us.
In the end, he was destined to die at a young age. I have to admit that I cried.
I shake off the idea about him and focus on my next human.
Suddenly the door opened and Nona entered with a scroll in her hand.
“Milady, Lady Lachesis, send a message for you.” She then gives the scroll to me.
The Fates again? What is it this time?
And then suddenly I almost fell to my chair.
William’s POV
Is this some kind of a joke?
Vera, my ex-girlfriend will be working in our company? Why?
This is beyond what I expect. Somehow it’s like a 25% chance that she will choose this company. What the heck?
How am I supposed to face my ex-girlfriend? She rejects my marriage proposal, and that’s more of an awkward situation that I’m in.
I haven’t talked to her after that night at the bar. I can still remember the face of that guy who is her fiance. I’m torn between asking her who that guy is. But at the same time, I don’t care.
I don’t mix my personal and work life.
She continued following me up to my table. I am not talking to her, but she simply can’t stand the silence.
I can feel every stare we’re getting from our colleagues. I know, because she’s pretty and everyone inside the office is eyeing her. If I’m allowed to put a cover on her face I probably would do it. But yes, I don’t have to worry about that. I don’t care.
“William, I didn't know that you’ll be my senior-”
“This one needs to be photocopied until the end of the day. You know the machine is not far from the door right? Give me at least 5 copies of everything.
I didn’t let her talk anymore. She hesitantly gets the papers in my hand. And then she walks towards the xerox machine.
Sighed.
“I’m sorry, William. I didn’t have the guts to tell you this problem.” Jerry suddenly showed up in front of me.
“I don’t know why the boss assigned you to train your ex. Well, maybe he doesn’t know that she’s your ex-girlfriend,” he said while still looking in her direction.
“It’s okay Jerry, it’s an avoidable circumstance,” I said while still typing at my computer.
“William, if only you dated someone, I guess you’ll be free from that woman.”
I stopped. Right. Jerry was right.
Vera knew I got a girlfriend. Maybe that reason alone can stop her from talking to me.
The whole day was so slow. I’m too focused on my job and finished it with an hour extra time.
Suddenly a cup of coffee was at my table. When I looked at the person who gave it to me, it was Vera.
“You work hard. Have a coffee.” and then she smiled the sweetest once again. And I don't want to be rude, so I accepted it.
I’m so weak.
“William, are you going home?” Once again she follows me until the office exit.
“Yes,” I simply answered here.
“Well, do you want to go to a coffee shop-” Vera was cut off from what she’s saying.
“Hi, DARLING!”
And then. I saw Aphrodite in front of our office.
“I come to pick you up, my love.”
Aphrodite smiled the sweetest. Enough to charm all the men right now.
