Aphrodite’s POV
That question is very easy, why can’t he answer it? Isn’t it the most asked question ever since?
I watched this pitiful man as he squirmed like a girl who can’t choose between a latte or an espresso. He also can’t look straight. Is that so hard to answer? I’m so glad I got my pudding, or I might be in a really bad mood by now.
“Well, now that you asked that, actually I don’t know Venus.”
I know what I saw right after what he said, it’s a sad smile. His eyes speak louder than his mouth too.
“After what happened to me, I think I have to reconstruct my preference. Maybe from long hair, I might go after a short one now, or from taller to a petite. What do you think?” he said without looking at me, but he continued to eat.
“Hmm, but will it be okay with you? Changing preferences is a bit difficult. Or I don’t know if it matters.” I said as I put down the 2nd serving of my pudding. Yum!
“You’re right. Not that it matters. Well, let's see. But why did you ask?”
“I don’t want to make any more mistakes,” I said and he suddenly looked at me.
No matter what, it’s my fault for letting him fall in love with her. I saw her as a potential candidate for him since they are very compatible. I think I misjudged everything.
“Well, thanks. I appreciated it.” This was the first time that he smiled at me, and I felt warm.
Why?
“A-anyway, I contacted my cupids. They might be here later as we will set up my temporary office.”
“Cupids? As in those small people with wings and a halo with-”
“-with bows and arrows, etc! Nah! They got wings from Hermes using the flying sandals. The heck’s so very outdated.” I can’t help but be annoyed at how outdated Hermes is when it comes to fashion.
Humans have very poor imaginations about my cupids. But I have to admit they are the cutest of all. I have to save some portions of the pudding for Nona later. My assistant must be very busy now that I’m gone.
“I’m curious, can I ask you a question?”
“Fire ‘em.” I said as I put another serving of my pudding, just a little, and then I’m done.
“Well, based on myths, even from books, are you actually married to Hephaestus?”
And the pudding is not a question now if it can calm me down or what.
“WHAT?!!”
And the night came to an end, with shattered glass of his window.
William’s POV
I guess she’s still mad.
It’s morning now, and I’m cleaning the shattered glass of the window. That was so scary.
“HOW CAN YOU HUMANS THINK I’M MARRIED TO HIM WHEN I’M NOT EVEN FALL IN LOVE ONCE!!!”
That was an earful, but a bit weird. Based on books, Aphrodite the goddess of love has a lot of lovers. Hephaestus, Ares, and the two mortals; Anchises and Adonis. But I guess not all in books are true, since they didn’t know for sure that they exist.
So she hasn't fallen in love once. I feel kind of proud that I know something that others won’t have any chance of knowing.
“Hello Mister,” I almost jumped when I heard someone speak behind me.
When I look at her, she’s a little kid wearing winged shoes just like Hermes. She must be one of her cupids?
“Milady said that she doesn’t want to be disturb. My name is Nona, I’m her assistant. Nice to meet you,”
This cute kid is the goddess’ assistant? But I’m not sure if she’s a kid or older than my grandmother.
“H-hello, Nona, I’m William. Nice to meet you too. Did she eat breakfast though?” Out of concern because she said she has too much work to do.
“She had some coffee.” She said and proceeded to sit on the couch.
She then removes her winged shoes and ties them to the table. “I hope you don’t mind me tying them on the table. They like to escape when I’m not wearing them,
The winged shoes are calmly floating right now.
“No, I don’t mind. It’s okay.”
It’s weird that I don’t feel shocked about what is happening. We haven’t talked about our situation here.
The fixing that Hemes said, what does he mean?
I go to the office like usual. It’s Monday, but because lots of things are on my mind, I’m already tired. Venus didn’t come out of her room and Nona ended up preparing food for us. And I can say she’s a great assistant.
After a little chit-chat with Jerry about his drinking session the whole weekend, I started to prepare the materials for my reports.
While working, I can’t help but think about Vera.
It hurts knowing while she’s in a relationship with me, she also has another man. I felt even more betrayed.
And where did she meet him? When?
I shook my head, I felt my frustration getting on me. I know something is hurting inside and I just don’t want to deal with it.
I remember the time when I cried so much, and I don’t have to feel that again. I already felt so down and unmotivated to live.
I just hope I won’t have to see her face once again. Or even the guy.
“William,” Jerry called me and I looked up to him.
“Boss wants to talk to you. You need to go to the office right now.”
Why do I feel his mood suddenly change?
“Y-yeah, sure, Jerry, is there any problem?”
“Nothing. It’s just- I-I’m sorry William.” he then walks away, which is a new thing.
I felt nervous, but since I know I didn’t do anything, I am confident that it has nothing to do with me...
...Or so I said.
My shocked expressions are now fixed to the woman besides my boss.
Vera.
What is she doing here?
So that explains why Jerry is really in a bad mood.
“William, I would like you to train Vera. She will be your assistant for now. Teach her everything, and anything about the company.”
What? Is he serious? Me and Vera?
“Please look after me, senior,” she smiled at me like the kind person she used to be.
But I know she’s not that kind.
Damn.
