‘Heart tattoo’ Oscar thinks to himself, remembering the tattoo on Benjamin’s arm. Frustrated he was not able to keep a witness alive he rushes back to the station. Dean also arrives early that day and they discuss what happened.
“Heart tattoo?” Dean says. “That could be anyone.”
“Or someone we know,” Oscar replies.
“But he did say Benjamin didn’t do it.” Dean replies.
“I know,” Oscar says sighing. “I just,” Oscar says as he looks around.
“I got last night’s security tape.” The two of them watch it and find someone in a black hoodie and black pants coming into the hospital late at night. That person goes into a room the hospital staff claims was empty and he comes out in a doctor’s uniform wearing a mask. That person enters Gregory's room, leaves, changes in the same room and walks out the door.
“A perfect crime,” Dean says. “Guess someone is trying to cover up their tracks.”
“True,” Oscar says watching the tape over and over again. “He’s about the same height.”
“Would you let that one go!” Dean says.
“We seem to have reached a dead-end here,” Oscar says. “The body of a woman was found a few weeks ago stabbed multiple times, no DNA, no hair, no nothing. We have no idea who took her or where she has been. What’s stranger is that she died about two days prior to us finding her.”
“Maybe the killer kept her to kill her later,” Dean says sighing. “Maybe there is something on how Gregory was killed. The murder weapon?”
“Scalpel. Probably found it in the hospital,” Oscar replies.
“What about the room he changed in?” Dean asks.
“Before we could get anything there, the hospital moved someone into that room,” Oscar says sounding frustrated. “The stab wounds for Scarlet were done by a man.”
“Great, that brings us down to about half the population.” Dean says sarcastically. “There has got to be something. Anything!”
“Wait, we did inform the doctors not to tell anyone Gregory was awake. Not even his family,” Oscar says.
“That means that the person who killed him,” Dean says as he begins to realize what Oscar is saying.
“Must have been in the hospital!” Oscar says as they hear a knock on their door and its Maria. For the first time in the investigation, they were happy to see her.
“What?” She asks confused at their delighted expressions.
“Maria where were you after you left the hospital?” Dean asks.
“I went to Scar’s place,” Maria says as she looks through her purse and takes out a newspaper article and hands it to them. “I went to find this, I was looking through her stuff all night and I finally found it.” Oscar and Dean look at it and find it's an old newspaper from 27 years ago. It was a report about the suicide of a woman.
“What’s this?” Dean asks.
“It’s a report,” Maria replies. “Benjamin’s father killed his mother and made it look like a suicide.”
“What?” Oscar says as he read the article. A woman who jumped off a building was the wife of Robert MacLerie.
“He denies it, but Scarlet always knew,” Maria says. “His dad killed his mom, just like Benjamin is responsible for my sister.”
“Thank you for this information, Maria. That will be all,” Dean says as he gestures her to leave. “And please keep in mind what I said yesterday unless it is important to leave us be.” Maria though annoyed, nods her head and leaves. Oscar reads the article and his suspicion of Benjamin grows. He decides to keep looking, now more determined to find the killer.
Meanwhile, Benjamin wakes up quite relieved, unaware of what happened to Gregory. Nicholas and Ann spend quality time together, with Ann finally at ease with everything, Nicholas now finds he solely has her attention. Benjamin also spends time with Fiona, happy to see her brother in a good mood again, she decides to host a dinner party. Benjamin invites Ann and Nick, while Fiona invites Tom and her boyfriend. The dinner was two days away and Benjamin convinced Fiona not to cook. Two days later, Ann and Nicholas reach Benjamin’s house and are greeted by Fiona.
