Once again, blindly crawling through the vent, Character A crawled around for what felt like an hour. They weren’t even sure if they actually went in a circle or not. There had been no vent leading down to the first level, or A hadn’t found it yet. A could tell that the sun was setting outside, seeing as it was getting much darker in the vent.
After a while, A decided to hop out of the vent. Carefully - to not ruin the flower - and quietly crawling out, not making a sound. They had stumbled into someone’s room, luckily they were still sleeping. Although they were in their wolf form, making it easier for them to notice A.
Sneaking past the patient, A walked over to the window, finding that they were still on the second level. But seeing that Kind Person was coming back with Sir. Panic started to rise up in Character A’s system. They hadn’t found a way out and now they couldn’t find a way back.
Opening the window, A waited till KP and Sir were well inside the building before climbing out. Carefully maneuvering themselves, they waited a few seconds to see if anyone was coming.
When no one came, A jumped, landing on the ground below. A knew someone must have noticed them jumping out, so they didn’t waste a second and started running.
Full blown sprinting into the woods. Not really knowing where they were going, until they popped up next to the Target’s house.
The urge to complete the mission had come back but Character A noticed that there were more people inside of the house this time. More people were on the lookout, making sure the Target was safe. A didn’t even know why they were so important to the pack and wasn’t going to stay to find out.
Forgetting about the mission for now, A started sprinting. They recognized the bushes and trees, seeing as it was the way that they had come in. It was much easier to find the border. There was no big fence, or wall or anything to indicate the end of the pack’s property. However A studied the pack before coming here and knew that the border was a bunch of big spruce trees. An outsider would think that they were just normal trees, but Character A noticed the pattern and started booking it.
Feeling relieved to be out of the territory, A didn’t stop running until their gut told them to stop. There was a faint howl sound from behind A, indicating that they had found out they escaped. Sending a search party after them. Running faster, A wanted to put more distance in between them before climbing a tree.
It was how they got there in the first place and it was how they were gonna leave. Running a couple more yards, Character A found a good tree to climb. They started to climb it only to notice that the cast was restricting. They couldn’t fully climb the tree with it on.
Deciding to take it off, A started to pull on the cast, trying to rip or tear it. It took too long for it to tear off so A had to leave it on. Running for a minute or two, they stopped and ducked down in a bush. Making sure they were completely covered, they sat down and waited.
This is the boring part of the missions, waiting. A could hear multiple paws running around, none coming in their particular direction but running around searching. According to them, A didn’t have a scent so they had to be looking for footprints. Which were hard to find since it had been dry this past week, not leaving heavy footprints for them to be able to track.
Character A sat there looking down at the flower, admiring it and waiting. That’s when they noticed a petal. A single petal was laying on the ground, not covered by the bush. Certainly there wasn’t a trailing leading them to A. Looking back at the flower there were still petals on it so then it was only a single petal that fell off.
A reached forward to grab the petal, quickly bringing their arm in the safety of the bush. Looking down at the petal, still seeing the beauty in it. A growl came.
From behind, A froze, holding their breath, not moving an inch.
There was another growl, knowing that whoever it is knows that they are sitting there. A was trying to figure out what to do, they didn’t know if the wolf was big or not. Still sitting there, A was calculating how far they could get before being tackled and it wasn’t far.
It could be Significant Other behind but they would have already killed A.
“We both know that you’re in this bush.” It was Dimwit #1, “Wanna crawl your wuss ass out of there or have me drag you out?”
Character A didn’t want either. Dimwit #1 had shifted so there was a better chance of escaping.
Making it look like A was going to come out themselves, they stood up to see Dimwit standing there waiting.
“Good, now get over here. You made a mess.” They growled at A.
A stood there staring.
Something’s off, A couldn’t quite figure out what it was but something was off.
Taking a tiny step backwards, they kept their eyes locked with each other before A bolted. Having Dimwit scream at them, chasing after them. Just as Character A suspected Dimwit wasn’t as quick as he was in his wolf form, making it easier for A to slip around.
A could hear faint cussing being shouted at them as they put distance. Feeling better about the distance A started to slow down, slowing to a jog. Before walking and catching their breath.
Don’t stop keep moving, A did just that. Almost stopping but continuing to walk, they guessed that there was about a mile or a mile and a half from the pack. Which isn’t far enough to be safe but an okay distance.
“You really think you could get away.”
Character A turned around only to be shoved to the ground. Struggling to get up the person put weight on their back, pinning them down.
“We’ll find you. Doesn’t matter how far you run, I’ll find you.”
Again Dimwit #1 had found his way to A, who was still struggling to get up.
Something bad is going to happen, A felt it. Something bad was going to happen and they didn’t want to be there anymore. It scared A, they didn’t know what the bad thing was but they knew it was terrible. Fear started to bubble in their gut. Deep down A wished they had stayed with Kind Person, stayed back at the hospital. Tears started to cloud their vision as they tried to crawl away, wishing for someone to save them.
Something bad is going to happen, it’s coming.
“You don’t have a scent and you know the weather pattern. So it was hard to find you, I’ll give you that,” Dimwit gave a half ass compliment, “But this…
They picked up the flower from A’s cast.
“... this is what got you caught.”
Dimwit crumbled the flower inside his hand, making it into mush and dropping it in front of Character A’s eyes.
The tears started flowing.
Something bad is happening, it’s happening. A didn’t want to believe it but they knew the bad thing was happening and it was terrifying.
“This stupid flower is what got you caught and is what’s keeping you from escaping.”
Dimwit had knelt down, his breath right next to A’s ears. Sending unpleasant shivers down A’s spine.
“You won’t ever be able to escape now.”
He licked the back side of Character A’s ear, getting a small whimper out of them.
“I’ll always know where you are.”
Dimwit let his tongue trail down A’s neck. Making A squirm in discomfort.
He paused over the nape of their neck, his hot breath battering against it.
Character A opened their mouth to protest but he already bit down. They let out a tormented scream as they felt teeth and fangs dig into their neck.
Blood formed from the bite but Dimwit sucked it up, before letting go and licking away the remaining trails.
A wanted to throw up. They wanted to curl into themselves and cry. They didn’t want to be there anymore nor anywhere anymore. They understood what just happened and why it happened. But it felt so violating. They felt pain, not the comfort many others would get from the bite. Only pain.
Pain far greater than anything physical Character A had endured. It hurt on the outside but it hurt deep down on the inside, somewhere A thought could never hurt.
This pain A could not draw their mind away from, it was burned like fire but felt freezing like ice. It was hot and yet they felt cold. The torturous pain had slowly turned into a dull aching, slowly numbing A’s mind. They didn’t even realize that Dimwit was licking the bite, helping it heal over.
A couldn’t tell what was reality and what was a dream. This entire situation sounded like a nightmare and soon Character A would wake up in the hospital bed. Kind Person would be there reading another book, waiting for them to wake up so A could try new foods. This was all a horrible dream, they would wake up any second now.
“You can run but you can’t hide. I’ll always find you.”
The voice felt far away, off in the distance.
But Character A knew this wasn’t a dream and the voice wasn’t far away. It was real and they were now connected, A could never escape. Being connected, they both had a sense of where the other one was.
A felt a different type of numb, not a physical numb after a beating or a mental numb after a wave of emotions but a spiritual numbing. Some entirely new numbing.
They had no life left, it was ripped away. The last bit of who A was trying to save was gone and they weren’t ever coming back.
Character A’s freedom was gone.
Consent is key, bitch! You didn’t ask, A clearly didn’t want this!!
