It had been two weeks since Wale had come to work, he'd taken sometime off with all the drama happening in his life, he wanted to woo Cherry back. She had been reluctant at first then eventually agreed to meet him a few times. Initially, he'd followed her to Swalha's but knowing Swalha, she'd slap his face again. He couldn't be bothered, he had gone anyway. Luckily, Cherry was the only one home, leaving to Kind's place and had seemed to be in a hurry. He tagged along with her since that morning when he awoke, he found an empty house; Kind had left without a word.
When they were at Kind's, Cherry and him spoke for hours. Apparently, Kind had left that morning to Swalha's and Wale presumed he may have pacified Cherry a little, considering she was willing to listen to him. They had spoken for hours about their relationship's future and midnight was fast approaching yet Kind had not come home yet. She had hurriedly sent him away agreeing to meet him afterwards to which he obliged.
Wale drove to work that morning with so much enthusiasm. Kind may not have been taking his calls the past two weeks, it appeared he was working behind the scenes to bring him and Cherry back together since she was cooperating well with him. Soon enough, she will agree to move out of that lions den and back to his arms.
Wale was ecstatic to find Kind back at his desk. Kind was not talking to him so he needed to respect his distance, for a while that is. Kind wasn't one to hold a grudge for too long that's why he wasn't surprised when Kind acknowledged him with a greeting. Maybe he'd long forgiven and forgotten. "I've missed you K. You've been avoiding me again. Why won't you take my calls."
"Tell that to Cherry please, we are not dating and stop talking to me like that, we are at work," Kind warned him but as usual, Wale never took his warnings seriously. Judging by the look he was giving him. Kind hated whenever he smiled like that. "Thank you for speaking on my behalf K. On a serious note, I'm grateful for working behind the scenes. Cherry and I have met a lot the past two weeks and from the looks of it, she will be moving back soon thanks to you."
What was this nincompoop talking about? Kind thought to himself. He hadn't seen Cherry for more than a week. The last time he had spoken with her, he'd told her to leave his place. He'd felt guilty afterwards but concluded the situation couldn't be helped, after all, Cherry hated him anyway. "I haven't seen or spoken to her the last two weeks so maybe Cherry really just wants to be with you so stop giving me credit for anything that concerns you two." Wale seemed unmoved by Kind's statement, it was as if he hadn't said a word at all. "So modest of you to not wish to admit but that's fine, you've always been this way. Still, could you help me out one last time after work? I plan to head over to my parents house, I've been renovating it since you left with your lover and abandoned me for three months...it appears there are things I can do without you K," Wale said provokingly.
"No, I've got plans," was Kind's response as he stood up heading to human resource office. Wale watched him walk away then suddenly remembered the bite mark he'd given him that night. He wished he'd teased Kind when he had been awake but then brushed the thought away. That night had proven to him he found Kind attractive as a man which would only complicate things between him and Cherry...Kind included. This sucked, he felt suddenly trapped.
Cherry had told him to keep his distance from Kind, that was her only condition to getting back together, but it was impossible. He wanted Kind...he needed him. Cherry was being selfish and to say he was in love with Kind, that was absurd. Kind felt like a brother he never had. He knew in his heart he wanted to protect him. He was his only family, the only person who had taken him out of darkness when he was a child. He wanted to protect Kind. He could take him right now, put him in a hidden cage and lock it up so no one would ever hurt him...or find Kind no matter how much they looked for him. He wanted to keep him in a place only he knew. That would be outrageous obviously. Kind would definitely fight back, throw a punch or two and they would terribly hurt. Wale rubbed his right cheek as he reminisced over old times getting into a fight with Kind.
By the time time Kind had returned, Wale was still spaced out. He ignored him and proceeded to pack his belongings from his desk, which was opposite Wale's. He glanced at Wale when he asked him what he was doing. "I sent my resignation when I got back. I'm surprised you don't know since you always seem to be in my business." Kind continued packing his belongings and when he was done, he bid Wale goodbye and left.
Wale's body felt cold, he couldn't move, couldn't bring himself to say a word or stand up to stop Kind from leaving. He felt threatened. He'd thought the bite mark would work but apparently, that Todo guy was a tough nut to crack. There was no way Kind was already in love with him. As soon as his strength came back, he quickly passed towards the human resource department and demanded they reject Kind's resignation. He knew he'd threaten the entire department if he had to but didn't want to go that far.
"You can't just walk in here demanding that, kindly consider your code of conduct before you act any further," the head in-charge warned. Everyone in the office was looking at him and the tension was unbreathable but he didn't care. Nothing would stop him from seeing Kind again. If his resignation went through, it will be easy for them to not see each other. He continued, "Get in touch with the CEO and ask him to call me immediately, maybe then, you'll find out who I am."
Wale didn't want to say it out aloud his parents had been the majority shareholders of the company he worked for infront of everyone since that was bound to bring about unwanted attention and gossip but then, it had come to this. He was desperate to keep anything that he could use to hold on to Kind. He's been loosing his grip lately, Kind was slipping away right infront of his eyes. A phone call startled him. Smiling, he answered. "Can you tell your staff to listen to me or should I sell my shares instead? I'm sure the board of directors would want to find out why the company is suddenly going bankrupt." Wale didn't wait for any response. He ended the call then walked towards the lift. Kind wouldn't have gone too far.
Luckily there hadn't been much traffic that day. It was still morning and a smooth ride to his best friend's place is what he needed right now. There was no way Kind was planning to leave again after two weeks of bringing him back. Where was he planning to go anyway? He was packing his car when when he spotted a familiar figure from a distance walking towards the lift in the packing lot, he followed him with his gaze and right infront of him, Kind appeared after which they held hands. Like a child stealing candy, they looked around the parking lot before sharing a kiss. Wale suddenly pressed the horn on the steering wheel which startled them and just like a guilty child, they ran away still holding hands...holding hands damn it! It made Wale furious. He wanted to run after them but decided it was best he calm down first and fast.
Reaching for his phone he called Swalha. "Can we talk?" He asked. Swalha asked him what he'd wanted to talk about so he decided to hit the nail on the head, after all, him and Swalha had always been upfront with each other. "I know you know that Kind is gay and has been in love with me since high school so are we going to meet or not?" Swalha went silent briefly before she inquired how he'd found out. "Let us meet and talk first and I'll answer all your questions."
When Swalha didn't say a word, he continued, "I'm in the parking lot at Kind's place and I've just seen him with his so called girlfriend Todo whom I'm sure by now are going down and dirty between the sheets so if you don't get me out of here right now, I'll be storming in to join them."
