Kind was awaken by a familiar voice talking next to him, it sounded more like Swalha. Her tone was sharp. It was obvious she was upset from the words she spoke. Was she talking to someone on the phone...what was she doing in his room? He felt exhausted and just wanted the noise to go away, it was disrupting his sleep. Slowly opening his eyes, Kind tried to figure out where he was. This was not his room. Where was he? Tilting his head trying to search for Swalha's face, his eyes caught the sight of Wale. He was smiling as he last remembered him. Suddenly a cold chill ran down his spine sending him to abruptly sit up. "Where am I?" he demanded before directing his second question to Swalha, "Where is Todo?"
Swalha tried to say something but Wale held his hand to stop her. He walked towards the bed and sat next to him. Wale could clearly read Kind's thoughts, he wanted to punch him so badly. "Calm down a little, the doctor said you should have awoken in two hours from now."
"You actually had him drugged? You bastard!" Before Wale could stop it, Swalha's palm forcefully smacked his left cheek. Kind's jaw dropped, he had never seen Swalha that furious! she shook from anger and Wale's response infuriated her further as he rubbed his cheek looking at her, "Aww, that hurt. This will definitely scar if I don't treat it." Swalha stormed out of the room, banging the door behind her. She couldn't stand the sight of Wale any longer.
"You shouldn't have made her angry. You know she has always despised you and with good reason." Kind said as he looked at his friend who was still gazing at the door. Wale turned to look at him and Kind could feel how close he was to him. His plan was to beat him to a pulp but here he was sitting beside him with a smile on his face, always mocking him. "You're too close," Kind murmured retreating back. He still felt dizzy and reached to support his head but was not fast enough. Wale's arms were already around him pushing him back to bed. Kind struggled from his friend's touch but couldn't fight him. The more strength he tried to use the more dizzy he felt. "Why are you so strong?" Kind asked looking up at his friend who had placed his hands on the bed on each side, locking him from escape. He hated it, it made him feel powerless.
"I had told you if you ran away again, I was going to use force this time K. Why did you do it?" Wale said calmly, his face showing not a hint of remorse. "So you went ahead and did it...this is what I get for having an idiot as a friend." Wale's response was no surprise at all and Kind's tension eased up after Wale ended his lock on him reaching to hold his tummy as he laughed hysterically. He must really be a psychopath, Kind thought to himself. "I didn't run away, I had taken a leave of absence from work which I'm sure you looked into. I've been in contact with everyone but you because I knew you'd do something as agitating as this wether we spoke or not." Kind continued as he slowly sat up again. He could feel dizziness creeping in but he despised feeling helpless especially in-front of Wale. "I should get you arrested for assaulting my friend for nothing. Why'd you do that to him?"
"Who knows?" was Wale's response as he shrugged. "I just wanted you back home next to me." Kind didn't want his causal responses to get to him, he needed to find out if Todo was okay at least before slumbering back to bed. "Dont worry, I sent him to hospital but I'm pretty sure he will come looking for me. His lawyer already served me." Wale added.
That's to be expected, Kind thought, though it still didn't surprise him how relaxed Wale was with the situation since his attention was more focused on him. "I have other friends besides you asshole, why do you keep pushing everyone away from me?" Looking away, Kind added, "this was the first time I've ever seen you that angry, pulverizing a stranger for no reason. Cherry got hurt in the process too, you needn't go that far with the excuse of looking for me."
"I'm sorry." Wale's face had suddenly changed. He really did look apologetic but Kind refused to let him have it that easy. "Apologize to her and my friend too. I've had it with you." He was looking at Wale straight in the eye. He needed to let him know how serious he was and that his carefree actions were a disgrace to their friendship. "We can't be friends if you hit women and anyone else without justifiable cause."
Wale's face grew grim. His best friend was in his presence but it felt like he was still looking for him. From what Kind was saying, he was willing to easily let go of their friendship just because of that guy Todo. Did he really like him that much? The guy seemed wealthy to have afforded two men watch over him as bodyguards. It had been quite challenging as per the private investigator he had hired, to go around the bodyguard's strict vigilance of any threat. Maybe he was a high profile individual...from a family of diplomats, or a prominent politician's relative. He wanted to investigate him too but feared Kind would find out then go through with his threat. "I apologized to Cherry though it won't be enough. She is still furious so she'll be staying with Swalha for a while."
"Serves you right. You brought this upon yourself for acting stupid." Grabbing his shirt to squeeze Wale's neck, he said in a low threatening tone, "If she breaks up with you, consider me dead." Kind didn't miss the look of fear on Wale's face. His complacent mask fell off revealing a scared little boy. It reminded Kind of when they were kids and Wale would look at him the same way whenever either of them had to go home after playtime was over. Good, Kind thought to himself. He should have been using this method from the start to make Wale do his bidding. "I want to see Cherry, is she outside?" he asked.
"At Swalha's," Wale answered simply, his gaze still on his friend. Kind loosened his grip and let go. He hadn't realized he had held Wale by the shirt for that long. "Of course she wouldn't want to be next to you for sometime. You got engaged a few months ago, you should act better." Looking away, he asked Wale to give him some water. He felt much better after two glasses which gave him the strength to get out of bed. He almost fell down when he tried to stand up but Wale caught him. Putting Kind's arm around his shoulder, Wale stated calmly, "You must be hungry. I cooked when I heard Swalha was coming but I doubt she ate so I hope you're hungry for two plates."
Kind suddenly realized they were in his former room, where he had stayed when they had shared the apartment. Opening the door that led to the living room, they slowly walked, Wale gently leaving him on the sofa. Kind sat down astonished to find a messy house. He thought to himself he didn't want to find out what had happened but he could read the room. This was all Cherry's doing. She had quite a temper.
Wale heated up the meal as he tried to clean up the place. By the time he was done, he found Kind asleep on the couch. He didn't want to wake him up since he had suspected this was bound to happen. Kind had woken up from the drug earlier than anticipated. Every action has its own consequences, he thought to himself. He had advised the private investigator to use any means necessary to capture Kind but had never expected the'd resort to this. He had used the guy's services before after he had turned eighteen and tried to reclaim his parent's assets only to discover his relatives ripping and living off of his rights. It had been a battle he had to fight silently but Frank, his lawyer, and the private investigator helped him discreetly reclaim what was rightfully his. Kind had no knowledge of it and Wale wanted to keep it that way. He gladly accepted the accusation for using drugs to capture Kind fort he could care less what others thought. Even if Kind were to hate him for it, hate was an emotion just like love.
"Kind wake up, at least shower before sleeping," he said while tapping his friend on both shoulders but he didn't budge. Kind always looked peaceful asleep, unaware of his surroundings. Any more attempts to wake him up were futile. The drug must have been quite strong, he thought to himself as he carried him back to the room. He could tell Kind lost weight from the last time he had been drunk and had had to carry him to bed. Wale chuckled at the memory of it as he loosened his friend's clothing to take them off and just like before, he prepared him for bed, wiping him down from head to toe then tucked him in.
He proceeded to the living room and cleaned up the remainder of the mess then continued to his room which was another disaster. Swalha had left a mess while taking Cherry's belongings. Once he was done, he felt extremely fatigued. He hadn't slept since the previous day in the evening when he left to pick Kind from who knows where until now. It had been more than 24hours. He wore his pajamas after hitting the shower then looked at the empty room he only recently shared with Cherry. Sighing, he left.
Walking past the living room, he headed to the room that Kind was in, switched off the lights, only leaving the bedside lamb on. Lifting the covers, he climbed the bed as he looked at Kind's naked body. He had lost a lot of muscle in just three months which had been the last time he had laid eyes on him. Wale put his head on his palm, supporting his elbow on a pillow so he could have a better look at his friend. He was always the handsome one among them two judging by how both girls and now guys were always flocking around him. Pinching Kind's nose, he whispered rhetorically, "Why does everyone like you when I'm the one who liked you first?" Wale let go seeing no reaction from his friend.
He reached for the duvet and covered them both then lay his head down, his gaze still on Kind. He wondered how it would feel if he was the one who had initiated the kiss before. Reaching down, he kissed him, then pulled away. "I'm only doing this because it's you," he murmured before reaching back to continue where he had left off.
