Edward shook his head, confused, he didn’t understand what Akira meant. He shoved the gun out of his face and rushed over to Akira, getting onto the floor with him so he could see him eye to eye “I don’t understand, Akira. What did I do?” he asked.
Akira moved away from Edward as he moved to touch Akira, “Y-you did it?” he asked again, “Please tell me you didn’t. You didn’t kill my parents, did you?” he finally clarified.
Edward was so taken off guard by the question he couldn’t help but hesitate to answer, “n-no, Akira. Why… why would you think something like that?” he asked.
Though Akira was still out of it he noticed the answer wasn’t solid like he was expecting. “You did…” he murmured. He looked down and shook, “you killed my parents, and you didn’t tell me? B-but you told… and the pictures…” His body shook.
“Akira. Akira, hold on, I- I can-“
“No, you can’t do anything, Edward.” King interrupted, “Come here, Aki-love. I’ll protect you,” King whispered as he opened his arms wide for Akira.
Akira looked from Edward to King and then back to Edward. Edward had betrayed him. King… well, though he was cruel had never betrayed Akira. He looked back and forth one more time before crawling past Edward and over to King. He grabbed ahold of King’s leg and hugged it close. He refused to look at Edward. How could he do something like this to him?
Edward shook his head, “Akira…”
King smirked and looked down to Akira, “seems he’s made his choice.”
Edward growled at King and ran towards them, tackling the man. Both of them struggled against each other, both trying to get the gun and shoot it at the other. With a flash of light and a bang, it was over in a matter of seconds.
Akira jumped at the noise and stared at the men. “Y-you…” he shook his head and was backing up slowly before he hurried and ran off towards the door, but before he could get to it Edward grabbed and pulled Akira as close to his body as he could, “Akira, I’m sorry. I’m so sorry,” he murmured, falling to his knees while still holding Akira as close as possible. “Akira, I’m sorry! I- I should have told you, but I just… I couldn’t. I couldn’t tell you that I killed them. Please! You don’t have to forgive me but don’t leave me like that! God, please Akira, I’m so sorry. I should have-“ he stopped, letting the tears finally flow from his eyes, “I never wanted to hurt you like that. I never wanted to hurt you like that. I never… I never… God Akira, please, believe me, I never…”
Akira stared at the floor, not saying a word and not moving. Not only had the man who was holding him kill his parents he had just shot King. He couldn’t move, he didn’t want to move. He didn’t know what to do. So, he decided not to decide, “I can’t… not now…” he whispered, “I can’t… you can stay in the house if you want, but I’m… I’m gonna leave, okay?”
“What! No! Akira. Please, don’t-“
“I have to. I can’t stay in that house alone… and I can’t stay with you,” he murmured. “Let me go, Edward. I- I have to find Misha. He’s probably really hurt.”
Edward shook slightly and nodded, he slowly let his grip on Akira fade, watching as the legs walked out of sight.
