Edward was at the construction site when he received the first text. He nearly dropped the phone when he saw the picture and shut the phone quickly. He couldn’t believe that Akira would send that kind of photo to him. Though he thought nothing more of it. By the time he came home, he had three or four pictures in his phone of Akira in various points on the same contraption he was in the first one.
He never realized that there was something wrong with the photo. There was no way that Akira could have taken those photos, not alone anyway. He opened the door “Are you still at it, my love?” he called into the house and shut the door behind him, heading around to each room. When he didn’t find Akira, he frowned and looked at the messages. He frowned; an unknown number had sent them. That’s when he started to panic and tore from the house as fast as he could, calling the number, demanding that they tell him where Akira was.
The voice on the other side of the phone just laughed and hung up.
The voice didn’t need to do any more than that though as Edward knew that laugh all too well. “King,” he hissed. He started to run around the town having no idea where King was, he thought he was still in jail. Clearly, he wasn’t though. He cursed at himself for not noticing that Akira couldn’t have taken those photos early. He found one of his contacts that he usually sold his stolen goods to, “where the hell is King?” he hissed at the man, “Tell me in the next twenty seconds or I tear out your heart.” He glared at the man.
The man shook his head, “Sorry, dude, I have no idea where that sicko is, jail I would guess, I haven’t heard from him in a long time,” the man said, “try asking Jimmy, he might know. He usually knows the in and outs of this town.”
Edward glared at the man for a few more seconds before running off to find Jimmy. He stopped and looked at the man again, “if ever I find out that you did know…” he said and quickly ran out, he didn’t need to finish what he was going to say, the man knew.
Sure enough, after another hour and one more picture, he found Jimmy. And Jimmy indeed did know where King was.
He looked in the direction that Jimmy had said, he was still another two hours away from Akira. Which met two more pictures. He looked at his clock, how long had Akira been dealing with this? He shook his head, no, he couldn’t think about that now. Right now, he needed to get to Akira.
Edward ran. He ran as fast as he could to the place that Akira was in. Every time he felt his phone vibrating in his hand only caused him to run even faster “just a little while longer,” he huffed as he sprinted as fast as he could.
He almost stopped when he felt the third vibrate to his phone, it hadn’t been three hours, there was no way, and didn’t his pants just vibrate? He sighed and pulled his phone from his pocket, doing his best to keep the same pace while looking at his phone. He couldn’t though, he slowed to a stop. This picture was far worse than the rest. Probably because it was a video and Akira was no longer alone.
Edward twitched before he shoved his phone back in his pocket and ran even faster this time. He managed to make it to the place faster than he thought he ever could he slammed the door open and rushed past the guards. He found another door and slammed that one open as well, “Get away from him!” he screamed at the men who were around Akira.
When the men didn’t move, Edward yelled at them to stop again and rushed toward the men only to have a gun shoved in his face by King. Edward stopped and stared at the barrel of the gun. “Get them away from him, King, or you will have to answer to me,” he hissed.
“Oh yes, because that has worked so well in the past, hasn’t it?” King said and glanced over to the men “Boys. Go have some fun somewhere else. Leave Aki-love here,” he ordered.
The men left, leaving King, Akira, and Edward alone in the room.
“Akira,” Edward called out to the man, “Akira.” He said, waiting for him to look over to him. “Akira, come on, look over here. I’m here.”
Akira did eventually turn to Edward; he looked unfocused but when he saw Edward they focused a bit and almost became saddened “did you do it?” he asked, “did you?”
