Sebastian POV
*Three days before*
“Seb, the wolves we sent are back” informed my beta, Philip.
“I’m coming” I sighed, walking out of my office.
“Please tell me you slept last night.” Begged my best friend.
“Alright, I slept last night.” I chuckled. He really was an overprotective idiot.
“Common Sebastian! You can’t keep up like this! At this rate, you’ll die from tiredness!”
“Thanks, mom,” I replied walking past him to the principal room of the pack's house.
“He is right, you know?”
“Oh no, please don’t start too Titan!”
“You, don’t start! Stop being such a shithead. You can’t attack another pack tired like this! If you don’t sleep, you can count me out of the next attack.” Titan threatened.
“You wouldn’t do that!” I gasped in disbelief.
“Try me.” He scoffed.
Before I knew it, we arrived and were greeted by three of my warriors. The middle one made one step to the side as he lowered his head, asking to talk which I allowed with a nod.
“The pack itself isn’t so big but the alpha is the strongest we have ever encountered yet. It’s still quite strange since we never heard of him.”
“It’s not the old alpha anymore?”
“No sir,” he replied.
“How inconvenient, continue”
“The new alpha, however, isn’t aggressive. In fact, he was very welcoming and even gave us a tour guide of the pack territory. Perhaps he is one of those pacifists”
“Is that all?”
“Yes sir.”
“Hum… Sir alpha?” The most recent addition to our army interrupt, his head tilted down in submission. I remember sending him with two more experienced wolves to perfect his training.
“God, please be gentle with the poor guy” pleaded Titan, who knew the next sentence of the soldier wouldn't please me at all.
“Shush or I’ll block you” I warned him before continuing, out loud this time “You may speak.”
“Hum… With all due respect, hum...I do not understand why we must attack this pack sir alpha.” He started hesitantly. “I mean, they clearly are pacifists and won’t do any harm to our pack. Maybe we could just arrange a treaty with them and let them out of this war. They don’t even seem to know about this war!”
“I see my dear…”
“Isaac, sir alpha. My name is Isaac”
“Very well, Isaac. Would you please tell me which pack you are from?” I drawled.
“The Ash Band pack, sir alpha” He almost whispered. He seemed to understand he made a mistake.
“Oh, the Ash Band!” I exclaimed, making people around us lift their heads. “Philip, would you please remind me of our little story with this wonderful pack? We were quite close with this pack, weren't we? Maybe we could go and say hello one day?” I continued with a strong voice so nobody in the room would miss the conversation.
“They were our allies, Sebastian, until they attacked us with one of the enemy packs. Sadly, they are all dead except the one who agreed to join us. I don’t think we can go and visit them anymore...”
“Oh, I remember now. Isaac, you were around ten, am I wrong?”
“No sir alpha, I was ten.”
“Good, good… So you do know this story. How is your mother by the way?”
“She is well, thank you, sir alpha. I do remember those events but…”
“If you ‘remember those events’, then why are you even asking? If they really are pacifists, then they will join us and we will not have to kill any of them.”
“Yes sir alpha, sorry sir alpha”
“It’s nothing, everybody makes mistakes” I comforted the wolf about to cry. “If there is nothing more, I will take my leave then.”
Once back in my office, I continued my paperwork. My beta interrupted my thoughts. “You did well with that kid, Seb” I grimaced.
“I don’t need your praises”
“I know but you could have yelled at him. He shouldn't have spoken. He is new and he knew it but still decided to speak. I don’t know how I would have reacted in your place. I admire your calm in this event.”
My face smoothed as I accepted his praise. “Thank you.”
“Geez, this guy is always right.”
“Yeah… Maybe you should have been his wolf instead of mine.”
“Nah, I’m the only wolf who can cope with you.”
“You always have an answer don’t you, Titan?”
“Always, but hey… Maybe the kid had a point. Maybe we could try a less… aggressive approach.”
“What do you suggest?”
“Let’s infiltrate their pack, win their confidence and then, slowly but surely, take control.”
