Steven POV
"Did you take your pills?" June, my sister's mate asked from the kitchen.
"Of course I did! Who do you take me for?" I yelled back
"Hum... You? Is that even a question, you airhead?"
“Whatever you say, dumass!”
I snickered before I grabbed my backpack and started heading to school. I didn't walk ten metres before I got grabbed by my bag and pulled back by an angry Raphael. Oops, he found out about my little trick sooner than I expected.
“Do you think it’s funny to replace the sugar with salt?” he growled.
“Yes, I really do!”
“Yes…- no… I’m sorry?” I tried hoping that he would let me go. Since he didn’t look close enough to let go of my harm I pleaded “Would you please let go? Please, please, pretty please?” I knew that Raphael couldn’t resist my puppy eyes. He loosened his grip just enough for me to escape. As I ran to school, I heard him curse me as my sister laughed at him.
I'm starting my last year of high school and just can’t wait for it to finish so I can get the hell away from this place. Not that this town is that bad or anything but it is kinda suffocating sometimes.
“What do you want? It’s the price to pay for popularity”
“Shut up Bullet. Don’t you get tired of being an idiot?” I replied to my wolf which only made him laugh.
“Nope never!”
My older sister, Penelope, was the one who raised me since my parents were thrown out of the pack when I was three years old. She discovered herself two mates this past year: June and Raphael. They were like family now as they lived with us in our tiny house.
As I entered the town, I found myself surrounded by more and more people. None of them were really my friends, they just wanted to hang with the popular guy I was.
“Get her the fuck off me” whined my wolf as a girl rubbed her redone breast at me, clinging to me like an alcoholic to his bottle of whiskey.
“What were you saying? ‘It’s the price to pay for popularity’” I replied as I shook the leech-like girl off me.
I honestly never asked for attention, but ever since I defended myself from a random 5ft grader bully, beating him simultaneously, I was constantly under the spotlight. I was the badass kid who beat up a badly famous bully. Even though that happened my first year of high school my reputation kept getting bigger and bigger while the stories got crazier every time they got told. Soon everybody knew me without really knowing me. How annoying.
“Oh stop it! You enjoyed it for a while, admit it!”
“Yes, if by ‘a while’ you mean a week. Besides, you still appreciate the food those groupies give us.”
“You know me too well” My wolf let out a small laugh.
“Dude, we've known each other since I’m two.”
“True.”
As the first bell rings, I try making my way through the students gathered around me and the other popular kids. I can’t allow myself to fail any of my classes if I want out of here. Choosing a seat in front of the class to make sure none of the imbeciles who consider themself my friends sits beside me, I get my things ready for the first class.
“Hello everybody, welcome to math class. My name is…”
I stopped listening to the teacher while getting lost in thoughts.
“Steven!” I don’t bother answering my wolf, dreaming of that limited-edition ice cream I saw walking here.
“Steven! Jesus, Steven! Wake up!”
“What do you want, Bullet?” I groaned.
“There’s an unknown alpha in the school.”
