It didn't take long for the doctor or the captain to come back much to Ms. Jones' relief and Erin's dismay. Though the longer that the doctor worked on Erin, testing him and trying to find what was wrong, the more Erin got annoyed. The doctor was asking him the same questions that Ms. Jones had.
"I don't have amnesia!" he finally shouted, "I remember everything up to when I looked down at the book, and then when I looked back up I was on the dock. It was seconds, not hours, or days, seconds," he said, sighing. "Now can I have my book back, or are you saying there is anything else that is medically wrong with me?"
The doctor looked rather confused, "Amnesia?" he asked, "What's that?"
"Amn-...it's memory loss, you're a doctor how do you not-" Erin stopped, looking even more confused. How did a doctor not know about amnesia? "Look, just- is there anything else wrong with me? Other than memory loss?" he asked.
The doctor shook his head, "not that I can see, everything looks fine. No bumps, scrapes, or bruises. You just seem very confused which could have happened during the wreck, but your body doesn't show signs of one."
"There, then I'm fine. Now, once again, can I get my book back and be on my way?" he asked. He made a grab for it but it was taken by the captain, who seemed to have stuck around during this whole ordeal, probably because he too was waiting for his books.
The captain thumbed through the book, reading a few pages, humming and then looked at Erin, his eyes scanning over his body before he looked back to Ms. Jones, "If you would get my books, please," he said, waving her off as she seemed to be about to object but headed off anyway. "Doctor, if it would be okay, I could have my ship's doctor look at him. We travel a lot you know, he might be more familiar with this amnesia the boy says he doesn't have. Perhaps it's some kind of sea illness?"
The doctor looked over to the captain and then back to Erin, "there isn't really anything I can do, so it's up to him," he said and got up, gathering his things.
"I don't-" Erin huffed and stood up, "Give me my book back," he said, moving over to the captain, "I don't care what you are, I don't need a doctor, I need help getting away with psychos like you all," he said and moved to grab his book from the captain.
Who in turn raised it over his head, chuckling, "you need help period. Just humor me and I'll help you get away, sound like a deal?"
Erin sighed for what felt like the millionth time in just the short time he was here and nodded, "fine, I'll humor the captain."
"Josiah," the captain said. "Yours?" he asked.
"Josiah?" Erin repeated before glancing over to the books that were being handed over to the man, "Erin...Waters," he said after a moment.
Josiah chuckled "Well, Erin Waters, I think you'll do just fine," he said and took the books that Ms. Jones handed over to him and headed out, looking over his shoulder briefly to make sure that Erin was following him.
Erin was just a normal boy. He lives in a small town, he has a mom and a dad, he has a job that he's comfortable with. There is nothing really noteworthy about Erin. He's just your typical boy who likes to read. At least that's what he was until he one day opened up a book about gay pirates in the local bookstore and got transported back to the swashbuckling days of the same book he opened.
What is he going to do when he meets the captain of a pirate ship that takes a shine to him? One filled with equally attractive men that all seem to be just a little bit too friendly with each other.
