Two months had passed. They had lived rather peacefully; there was the occasional nightmare or two from each of them. Edward had to make up what his nightmares were about every time that Akira woke up to find Edward in a cold sweat. If it were up to Edward, Akira was never going to find out. Edward would just continue to live with the guilt like he always had. Just now it was ten times harder.
Both of them had also quit their jobs back in the town they had started in. Akira was now working as a host at a local bar and Edward had managed to switch to another construction company. However, Edward did fib a bit about where he was at all times, having still decided to steal rather than just do construction work. Then again, Akira also wasn’t telling the whole truth about where he worked. Yes, he was indeed a host at the local bar, but he tended to be a bit friendlier with the people at the bar. He wouldn’t sleep with them or anything, but he did suggest that he might. It was the whole point of his job after all.
They both were rarely home at the same time, except for the days they had off. Which, they had managed to convince both of their workplaces to have them at the same time. They were very lucky for this and decided to enjoy those days to the fullest. Two months gone, it seemed like only a few days to the two newlyweds. They were indeed off in their own little world. At least until the walls came crashing down around them.
King, after all, had been looking for them. He had never thought he would have been lucky enough to find them in the same town, let alone the same house. How amused he was to find this out. He became even more amused when he found out the reason they were in the same house. “Hmm, lovely work, Misha,” King said, looking down to the bruised and battered man. “I’ll make sure to tell them about your part in this little game.”
Misha looked up from where he was held down on the ground by some of King’s men. “Please, King… I beg you, don’t-“ He looked down and closed his eyes, he couldn’t hold his head up anymore “Don’t tell them, I didn’t- I didn’t want to,” he murmured as he passed out from the beating that he had gotten.
King smirked, “ah, how cute, he still thinks I’m a kind man. Akira understood that long before you did. You were just the foolish one to think you could get him out safely.” He shook his head, “Stupid, Misha, very stupid,” he tsked and nodded to the two men, who took Misha out of the room and dumped him outside. “Go get Akira, leave Edward be for now. I want to watch them both squirm a bit.”
A man came out of the shadows and nodded, “of course, sir,” the man said and left the building, determined to find Akira. The man knew where both of them worked, where they lived, and most of their background, and he was ready for this mission. He had already decided that he would wait for Akira at the house, what a great way to make them both squirm he figured. Keep low, the people that signed him up for his job had told him. Don’t let anyone know what you are really there for.
As Akira got home that day he saw a very familiar face standing in front of his house, “Hiroki.” Akira smiled and ran up to the man, “what are you doing here today?”
Hiroki shrugged, “not much, just wanted to come and see my best friend’s husband.”
Akira chuckled, “Mhmm, you want food don’t you?”
“Well, that would always be nice too.” Hiroki laughed and followed Akira inside. “How have you been doing, anyway? I hope Edward isn’t driving you too crazy.”
“Nah, not at all,” Akira said, “If you are looking for him as well, he won’t be in for until dark,” he explained, rubbing his eye. He was tired from the previous night’s work.
“Hmm? Oh no, I wasn’t looking for him at all actually. Just you,” Hiroki said and smiled, “You look tired, I should probably come back later.”
“No, no, please, stay, if you come back later odds are I won’t be up. I work the night shifts at work lately so, you know, it becomes hard to function during the day with that kind of schedule,” Akira explained.
“Good point. Okay then.”
Akira gave another smile before and moved into the kitchen. “What would you like to eat? Have you had breakfast yet?”
“Akira, please, you don’t actually need to make me anything I was just kidding. Unless of course, you are hungry, in which case, why don’t I show you my cooking talent.”
Akira looked at Hiroki for a moment and nodded, “yeah, okay,” he said and moved over to the table, “if you don’t mind, I’m going to take a nap while you cook, is that okay?”
Hiroki nodded, “go ahead,” he said, smirking to himself as he started to make something simple. He glanced back to Akira for a moment before grabbing some apple juice and slipped a little something special into it for Akira, “here, before you fall asleep, why don’t you have some juice?”
Akira looked up to Hiroki, already plenty tired before he took a sip of the juice, drinking a bit before he all but passed out.
Hiroki set the food aside that he had prepared and shook Akira slightly “Akira… Akira, foods ready…” he smirked, even more, when he found that Akira wasn’t waking up. He picked up the smaller male and took him to his car that he had parked next to the house. He had made sure that it stayed out of sight of the neighbor’s prying eyes, just in case. He slipped out of the house, locking the door behind him, and placed Akira in the back of his car before driving off.
