Diana mentally thanked Lucian despite herself. It was late by the time they reached the Hathaway estate and Diana just wanted a soft bed to sleep on. So when Lucian asked her to accompany the butler to his assigned room, Diana could only sigh inwardly in relief.
The butler silently guided her through the mansion's well-decorated corridors. The girl wanted to ask what kind of person Lucian was, after all, in just one night, he showed several facets, but the butler seemed so serious that she preferred not to comment. Perhaps, the next day, she would ask Héctor. In fact, where had he gotten himself?
For some reason, she missed Héctor's easy smile. Was it because he had spent the last few days so close? After all, they don't go outside by side.
“Miss, we have come to your quarters” the low and serious voice of the butler put Héctor out of her mind. “I hope they are to your liking. Master Lucian had it prepared specifically for you"
The butler's words surprised her. Lucian was a strange man.
When the girl entered the room, she was almost breathless. His room was incredibly beautiful. The walls were filled with all kinds of roses. White, yellow, pink, and, of course, red. Now she understood why the room was called "the room of roses."
The huge double bed had a rose-encrusted canopy in its golden span, while a pastel pink curtain draped gently around it.
The huge double bed had a rose-encrusted canopy in its golden span, while a pastel pink curtain draped gently around the bed. On the floor were several rugs with the same theme as the room. To Diana's surprise, a large double door led to an outside garden. Without thinking twice, she walked to the door, enchanted by the softness of the rugs, and opened it with a mixture of joy and anticipation.
What she saw did not disappoint her. The double doors faced the most beautiful garden the girl had ever seen in her short life. Diana was impressed by how well-maintained the rose garden was. The Hathaway family was serious about taking care of their property.
But despite being surrounded by so much beauty and fine furniture, a pang of sadness filled her heart, as the rose decoration reminded her of her deceased mother. After all, they were her favorite flowers.
With that in mind, Diana remembered the time when she wanted to be a florist so that she could always give Flora the prettiest roses. However, that dream died along with his dear mother. Since the flowers reminded Diana of a time she couldn't go back. She did not doubt that her mother would fall in love with all the decor, decorated with all kinds of roses.
“Now, if you'll excuse me, I will leave, Miss Diana. I will ask you to prepare a bath for you immediately. I'm sure the Miss is tired from the long journey.” murmured the butler, interrupting his gaze on Marcos's pupil.
As she was at a loss for words, Diana could only nod, not holding back the sad smile that played on her lips. A small part of the girl wanted to share that beauty with Héctor. But a large part of her yearned for a hot bath and a comfortable bed.
