Ray sat on the train, staring at the illusory Georgia Geovana in front of her. Ray shakily brought herself to her feet.
“N-no,” stuttered Ray. “I've already failed so many people in my life. I won't fail my mistress too!”
Astroworld stuck its fingers into Ray's eyes. Blood spurted out.
“You may be able to completely fool our visuals – but your power has no effect on sound!” screamed Ray. “So, to make myself immune to your illusions, I tore out my eyes!”
“Uh, did you consider closing them?”
Ray and Astroworld rushed at the image of Georgia. Georgia's hologram did not react. Ray and Astroworld turned their heads sharply.
“There!” shouted Ray. “I'm certain I heard your stand dodge to the right!”
Astroworld rapidly punched at thin air. There was a sound of cracking glass, followed by a thud. The image of Georgia disappeared. The mangled Shattered Dreams became visible once more, in the shadow under a seat.
“You did it!” blurted Tolk. “You pushed her stand into my shadow! Ray, you're a genius!”
The writhing claws of Burzum grabbed at Shattered Dreams.
“Tell me, Tolk Giger,” said Georgia through her stand. “Did you know my stand has the ability to store light for later use?”
A flash illuminated the area under the seat. Burzum screeched. In the light, Georgia could see the stand's shadowy hands originating from a small, amber orb. Shattered Dreams pushed the light-hating stand out from under the seat, into the light of the star Bellatrix. Tolk's muscles were paralyzed.
“Wh-what's going on, Tolk?!” stuttered Ray. “Why aren't you attacking her?!”
“I... I... Ray you... dumbass!!!”
The severed Shattered Dreams floated into the air. The image of Georgia appeared again, and the image of her stand repaired itself behind her. Shattered Dreams stepped forward, and pulled Tolk to his feet. The glasswork stand plucked both feathers from Tolk's frozen hand.
“Now... with what you said earlier, I'm going to assume you haven't seriously hurt anyone besides me,” said Georgia. “If that's the case... I have no reason to kill you. So, I'm going to let you go – but make sure you leave with the reminder that it was Georgia Geovana that beat you!”
Ray took a step forward, raising a fist. Shattered Dreams hit the cultist duo with a barrage of right-handed punches.
“RUN RUN RUN RUN RUN RUN RUN AWAY!”
Ray and Tolk slammed against the front wall of the train car, far away from the star. Ray struggled to catch her breath. Tolk pulled the large knife out from behind his back, his arm straining to move under the paralysis. He held the weapon up to Ray.
“O-of course!” stuttered Ray. “We still have one way of beating her! Quick, give Astroworld the kn-”
A spurt of liquid splashed onto Ray's face. Ray gasped, inhaling a glob of blood. Tolk had slashed her throat with his knife. The blue orb extinguished. The train car turned dark, and Georgia’s illusion disappeared. The floating pieces of Shattered Dreams turned to look at the darkened star.
“What?!” gasped Georgia.
Tolk Giger dragged himself into the floor of the train with Burzum.
“I have to thank you, girl!” boasted Tolk. “Most enemies wouldn't be so merciful! Georgia Geovana, was it? I'll make sure to look you up when all this is over!”
Tolk was gone. Shattered Dreams flew up to Ray, and lifted her head.
“D-don't worry!” sputtered Georgia. “I have a friend who can heal you! Just... hang on a bit longer!”
Blood dribbled from Ray's lips. Ray put a hand up to Shattered Dreams.
“It's fine, Georgia,” wheezed Ray. “I'm happy now... now that I know there's at least one person who cares about me.”
Ray Clarke's arm fell to the ground.
Tolk hopped out of a shadow in the tunnel wall. He dusted himself off, and started walking through the tunnel. There was a loud clang. Tolk looked down, and saw his leg caught in a bear trap.
“What the- who put a bear trap down here?!”
A pair of green hands with brass knuckles grabbed Tolk's face from behind. When the hands let go, Tolk's mouth was gone, and a cluster of fingers grew in its place. Tolk screamed, but his sounds were muffled. A Peruvian woman and a Danish man with a patterned shirt appeared behind Tolk. The man wrapped his arm around Tolk's shoulder.
“Mr... Giger, was it? Could you come with us? We have some questions we'd love to ask you about Arca Foederis.”
