(7:00 the previous day)
Sophie gets up from her bed to see Lex hiding under the table, she rubs her eyes as she gets up and glances at Carlos sleeping in the bunk above before going to see what's wrong.
“Hey, are you ok?” Sophie asks, Lex gets up and looks around, startled by Sophie’s presence.
“...” he stays silent whilst cowering
“Come on let's go get your sister” Sophie exclaims, in a jolt of realization Lex gets up and runs to the door, blocking it while shaking his head.
“No” Lex whimpers
“What, why?” Sophie asks confused
“There’s monsters'' Lex blurts out, taking it as his imagination she steps outside. Surprised she sees Jamie's tent pulled from the ground, alarmed she rushes over and checks it out. To her relief, one of the pegs had just knocked loose, no damage. Then she noticed the footprints leading away and judging by their size and depth confirmed that Jamie must have just left for some reason and knocked the tent peg as she left in a hurry.
“What's going on?” Carlos sleepily asks, stumbling out of the trailer before noticing the pulled tent and freaking out. “OH MY GOD, WHAT HAPPENED, WHERES JAMIE”
“Whoa there, slow down, I'm sure she’s fine” Sophie reassures him contemplating whether she believes that herself.
“Oh thank god” Carlos replies as he brings Lex back to the trailer for breakfast.
(A little while later)
“Hmm, Jamies still not back, and its almost noon” Sophie worriedly mumbles under her breath “hey Carlos!” she calls
“What?” he replies
“Ima go find Jamie, can you make Lex some lunch?” Sophie exclaims
“Sure, also look out for the cat. Can't find him anywhere”
Sophie became highly alarmed
“What!?” she thought “so um” she staggered “how long has the cat been missing?” she fearfully asked
“Haven't seen him since yesterday” Carlos replied
Her heart dropped, Jamie never told Carlos about her fear but Sophie knew how serious it was. She dropped what she was carrying and bolted into the forest as fast as she could.
“JAMIEEE!” she called “JAMIEEEEE CAN YOU HEAR ME!” she yelled as she sped through the forest, she stopped for a few minutes before hearing a distant scream “AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH” Sophie recognized the scream from Jamie and ran faster than she’d ever run before to where she thought the sound was coming from.
She underestimated the distance from the scream as it took her until after noon to get to the area, she stopped dead in her tracks upon arriving at the cliff's edge when she noticed Jamie’s beloved scarf lying in the dirt. Alarmed and frankly, a bit scared Sophie made her way down the mountain to see if Jamie had just dropped her scarf and to see if there were any other items that she could have dropped as well (she knew that Jamie would never leave without her scarf but inside she hoped to god that this was the case). When she arrived at the bottom she didn’t see anything and was about to start trekking back up the mountain when she stepped in a little bit of some red liquid. “B-b-blood?” she stuttered as she stepped back in horror “n-no its just a small amount, there's no way that could be her, a squirrel maybe or a gopher” she tried to calm herself as she nervously reached into her emergency bag and pulled out a forensics flashlight. Shaded by the trees above her she doubtfully shined her blacklight on the ground.
She gasped in horror as the light revealed blood everywhere, down the mountain, all over the ground, everywhere.
“No, no, no, no, no, no, no!” Sophie collapsed onto the ground sobbing, “NO, NO NO” she screamed. She knew whose blood it was, she knew that it was Jamie’s “WHY, SHE WAS SO FUCKING YOUNG” Sophie cried at what she thought was the loss of her best and oldest friend “WHY, SHE DIDNT DESERVE THIS” she mourned as she swore at the sky in rage “HOW THE FUCK COULD THIS HAPP…” she cut herself off realizing that because of how recent the occurrence was and the fact that Jamie was nowhere in sight concluding that someone had taken her and they could still be here. As silent as she could, desperately hoping that whatever took Jamie didn’t hear all the commotion. As quietly and steadily as possible, still sobbing from the realization, Sophie got up and shined her forensics flashlight on the ground again, noticing a trail of blood that almost made her vomit, she followed the path slowly. Going from what seemed like bloody steps to a cutoff at the stream “she's alive” Sophie blurted out as she walked down the stream, the next instance of blood Sophie found was a bit more down the stream but it was less like steps and more like paint smeared against the ground stretching to a building a few meters away that she’s surprised she didn’t notice before. Approaching it carefully Sophie noticed the blood lead under a rusty metal door and carefully reached for the handle.
“Locked” she exclaimed, not knowing whether to feel annoyed or relieved Sophie stepped away from the door and started heading back towards the camp to call the police. Sophie made her way up the mountain and almost reached the top before
”Foom” the sound of a blowgun startled Sophie, she pulled a dart from her arm and started to become woozy as she stumbled about
“Heyyy, thatssss not funnnyy” Sophie dazily mumbled before collapsing to the ground and falling into a deep sleep.
