Diana opened her eyes and, for a brief moment, did not remember where she was. She found the hard, cold surface under her back strange. Where she was? She looked at her side and finally, reality hit her mind. Seeing Hector lying next to her, Diana remembered what had happened so far.
He recalled that he was on a trip to care for a mysterious patient, learning about magic. And, during his attempt to bring life to a dry leaf, he passed out. She felt her face go hot with embarrassment. Who passed out from a miserable leaf? Diana had the faintest feeling that, before she extinguished, she heard someone's voice calling her name. Was it Hector? Is that why he was beside her? Was he worried?
A little euphoria took over her heart and a smile spread across her face. Truth be told, ever since she met this man, she had experienced sensations and emotions that she didn't know it was possible to feel.
"I never thought I would be so relieved to see your smile again" upon hearing Hector's voice, Diana froze "For a moment, I thought you wouldn't wake up again" he continued, confirming his suspicions.
"Thanks for the concern," she murmured, looking away.
- Is it safe for you to learn magic at this age? Isn't it better to give up?
"No!" imagine if Marcos heard that and agreed ?, thought Diana "And by any chance do you care? You haven't even looked in my direction for days" she said harshly, defensively, lowering her voice so as not to wake the other travelers.
"One thing has nothing to do with the other!" Replied Hector between his teeth, trying to control the anger that suddenly arose.
"No? You are a strange person, ”she said mockingly.
"I would be talking to you normally if I hadn't invaded my privacy." It was apparent how much Hector was controlling his tone. In reality, he felt a strong urge to take Diana by the shoulders and put a certain judgment on this girl's head. Where have you seen yourself risking your life to learn magic? "Regardless, I don't want you to take any chances," he continued, sighing.
Hector's words completely disarmed Diana. She didn't expect to hear that. Well, maybe a little. And guilt filled her chest. Diana was sorry to have acted that way with him.
"My apologies. I shouldn't have talked to you like that and never asked like that" Diana said, trying to raise a white flag between them "I was just really surprised to find that stone around your neck. The only time I saw another like it was with a very special person for me."
"What happened to that person?"
A heavy silence settled between them and Hector was quite sure what had happened.
"So when I saw this stone I thought you might know something. But I see I was wrong" she said softly, her eyes full of tears
All the hurt and anger he had in his chest disappeared, leaving no trace. Now, he understood Diana's behavior. If Hector had been in the same situation as her, he would have done the same.
Something about Diana's sad, dark words made his heart squeeze inside her chest. Who would that person be? For what reason did they kill her? And, more importantly, would he be able to get Diana out of that sadness? Looking at her face, Hector was sure he couldn't live without her smile.
