Sam's POV
Viv grabbed me from behind to stop me from jumping out of the truck. I couldn't help this rush that took over me. My body just moved on its own. It made me angry. He was hurt because of me and he needed help, I needed to help him.
"Let go! He's hurt," I growled at her, feeling a heavy weight bear down on me. I wanted to rip her arms off me and go to him, I needed to.
Viv tightened her grip around my chest trying not to hit my arm. "He will be fine. Shhh, calm yourself, Sam."
Her hand landed flat over my heart. It was crazy how much that calmed me down in nearly an instant, feeling this pull to run after him lessen slightly.
Just then a black wolf tumbled into view and we all leaned forward with Viv still holding behind me. Emmett's blue eyes looked over and he got up. Even from here we could see him struggling to do that as a trail of blood was left behind him but he got up and limped a little closer until Brian jumped down and picked him up as Emmett changed back to himself.
"Over here! This way quickly!" I heard the same buzzed cut man’s voice in the alley.
Viv’s brother jumped back into the driver's seat while Viv let me go so I could grab the blanket from her hand to throw over Emmett as best as I could with one arm while Brian stepped back into the truck.
He looked really bad. Blood was dripping down his arm with a bullet hole close to his shoulder, two more in his side, and one more was in his stomach.
Viv closed the door behind them quickly as the people with guns ran around the corner guns ready and the redhead floored it again.
"Agh. Pull them out, Brian," Emmett growled as he laid him down on the hard floor.
I hurried over to Emmett and dropped on the hard floor next to him as I lifted his head into my lap. I was freaking out and shaking so much but tried my best to comfort him. He was bleeding so much and it was all my fault. He was hurt because he was trying to protect me. He might die here in my arms at any moment and it's all my fault.
"Are you okay?" He asked me suddenly as his hand came up to softly caress my cheek.
I looked down, getting pulled from my thoughts to find his beautiful light blue eyes searching my face in worry.
"You're an idiot," I said running my trembling thumb down his sharp jawline. Everyone froze for a moment and looked at me but Emmett chuckled and smiled with a little cough. "You're the one laying here with four bullet holes and you're asking if I'm okay?"
"Hold still Alpha," Brian warned.
I looked up as he quickly shoved two fingers into Emmett's stomach. Emmett yelled in pain and tried to lift his head to move but I held him down as best as I could.
"Hey. Lo- look at me," I told him. He groaned in pain but looked up at me. His unhurt arm reached up behind my neck and yanked me down closer to him until my forehead pressed against his and held me there.
"Got it," Brian said and I heard something heavy drop on the metal floor.
Emmett was breathing faster as I caressed his jawline, running my shaking thumb up and down slowly to give him some kind of comfort. I didn't know what else to do to help him.
His face turned to pain again as he closed his eyes and tightened his jaw to stop from yelling out in pain but he hummed it as he tightened his grab on the back of my neck.
"Look at that. Halfway over," I smiled as I heard another 'tink' sound of the metal bullet dropping against the floor once more.
He opened his eyes at me hovering over his head and smiled. "I'm going to punch you, smart a- Ahh." His eyes grew wide this time but kept them glued to mine.
I couldn't stand seeing him in so much pain. It hurt me so much. Like my heart was getting ripped out of my chest with every bullet the larger man pulled out of him. "I- I'm so sorry. This is all my fault. You're hurt because of… because of me." I couldn't help the tear that fell from my eye onto his cheek.
He reached up and wiped away the next tears before they could fall again. "No, it's not. Please don't blame yourself Sam. I'll be just fi- ahmhmmhmhm." He tried to hold himself back as Brian dug into his arm for the last one. His hand that was on my cheek reached back into my hair and pulled me down so my forehead met with his again.
I heard it drop again as Emmett let go of his hold. That’s when I first got a look at the bullets that were inside him. They were covered in blood but you could see the shiny silver color underneath. The part that stood out the most, however, was the tip of each bullet. They were all ripped open like a flower in full bloom, opening each jagged pedal straight out to keep it lodged deep inside his body and looking more painful to take out then when they went in.
"You could have waited for me to finish talking first," he snapped and looked over at Brian but it just made the darker man laugh.
"You're good now," he said in his deep voice and smacked Emmett's bare stomach, making him jump a little.
I looked up to find his stomach and sides were already healing as Viv wiped the blood off, cleaning the wounds before putting a bandage over them since they weren't fully closed just yet. She looked up and smiled at me brightly as a huge wave of relief washed over me. He healed faster than I could but I didn't have time to think about it as I smiled back at her.
"Thank you, Viv," Emmett said and sat up slowly once she was done. That's when I noticed he had a tattoo lining down his spine of the different phases of the moon. In fact, he was covered up and down his arms, shoulders, and neck.
She wiped the blood off his arm, showing that it was also healing at a fast pace like the others now that the bullet was out. I was so happy he was no longer in all that pain and couldn't help myself as I scooted closer behind him on my knees and wrapped my good arm around his waist.
He jumped a little, surprised at my touch but relaxed quickly again as I laid my head against his back. I felt my body finally relax for the first time all day. He was just so warm against my skin.
"Thank you," I told him as I closed my eyes feeling myself grow heavy from all my exhaustion.
His hand softly laid on my arm and we stayed like that for a while until Viv said she was putting his clothes next to him. I completely forgot he was naked with only a blanket covering his lower body and blushed as I moved away from him with a soft sorry before turning around so he could get dressed.
Once he was finished the truck came to a stop and the engine was shut off.
"Finally home," Viv said and grabbed my hand pulling me up to my feet. "Come! Welcome home, Sam." She jumped up and down looking like a child in a candy store.
I smiled at her as she linked our fingers together and pulled me out of the truck. We were in a dimly lit parking garage but it was filled with cars of all kinds.
"Come on, hurry. I'm so excited to show you around." She jumped with glee again.
She started to pull me forward but Emmett stopped her quickly. "Viv, it's been a long day for Sam, don’t you think? Let's just let him lay down and rest for now. Maybe eat a little before you start to overwhelm him again," he told her.
"Oh, yes Alpha," she looked down in sadness and everyone took a step closer to her to try and comfort her in some way. I could tell they all cared for her deeply. "I'm sorry. I just got really excited."
"It's okay," I said with a smile as the need to make her happy took over me as well. "You can show me around once I've rested a little. I promise."
Her face quickly lit up again in joy. "Thank you, Sam. Emmett will show you to your room then." She hugged me tightly around the neck to avoid my arm. "I'm so happy to have met you finally. I knew just by your scent off Emmett you would have a beautiful color."
'Color?' I asked myself confused.
She laughed again. "You'll understand later when I give you the grand tour," she said like she read my mind. She nuzzled her cheek against mine before letting go and Brian pulled her under his arms as she giggled and looked up at him hugging around his waist.
The three of them walked over to the elevator leaving me and Emmett alone as he lit a cigarette.
"I'm sure you have many questions," he said as he took a drag from his cigarette.
"I just want to eat and maybe sleep, to be honest. Though I'm not sure I'll be able to sleep. I think I'm still a little in shock and confused," I told him looking at the ground almost embarrassed. Not to mention, I was cold and soaked to the bone from rain and my own blood. I was so hungry and tired that I don't even want to deal with it yet.
"Okay then let's go. I'll show you to the room. I'll call the cook and you can take a hot shower and warm up while we wait."
He took one more puff from his cigarette and dropped it to the ground to step on it as we headed to the elevator. Once inside he took out his phone and called someone.
It didn't take long for them to answer as he looked over at me with a smile that made me blush a little and look away. "Hey. I’ll need you to bring the chef's breakfast for two up to my room," he smiled at me again.
I haven't had a lot of breakfast food before. Living on the streets, I pretty much lived off canned foods and whatever I could find in the trash which made me not so picky with my food. I could eat anything at this point.
Wait... did he say... his room? Is he taking me to his room? I could feel myself tease up as my whole body turned red before looking down at the floor with wide eyes.
Emmett hung up the phone and looked over at me, seeing me questioning what he just said over the phone. "Do you not like breakfast?" He asked.
"Uh, well, I'm not sure. I don't really eat breakfast but that's more because I don't have a choice. I'm honestly looking forward to trying it though. I'm not picky at all," I smiled at him but the thought of being alone in his room together really made me nervous.
"I see, if it makes you feel uncomfortable being in my room Sam I could arrange a room of your own. It's just going to take a little longer to get ready but you're more than welcome to use my room now so you can shower, eat and go to sleep whenever you’d like. I have much to do so it will be all yours anyway."
Ugh. I don't want to wait to shower, eat, or sleep. "No it's fine, thank you. As long as I won't be in your way."
"Of course not my-," he froze for a moment before looking away and clearing his throat. "Sam. Of course not Sam. I more than likely won't be there at all tonight after we eat."
I looked at him weirdly, wondering what he was about to call me before stopping himself. The rest of the elevator ride was silent. A little awkward but I didn't care. After the day I just had I needed the quiet.
We finally came to a stop and the doors started to open. "Follow me, Sam. Stay close, okay? I don't want you to get lost," Emmett said as we stepped off the elevator and my eyes widened as I stepped out behind him.
