Nova's face changed from worried to stern.
“The reports came in and we have verified them. Indeed their Brahma was stolen however we are yet to confirm the location of the people who stole from the Alphas. We held a meeting a while ago, with some of the Alpha delegates from their embassy,” She paused as if to choose her next words very carefully,“which ended up causing a big…havoc.”
Reina and Anakin stopped walking and turned to her.
“What happened?”
“The Alpha delegates started out talking about an anti-government group from Alpha, ASR, who were responsible for this mess. They are a rebellion group bothering the King.”
“And..?”
Nova recalled the chaotic meeting and recounted the events.
She had been sitting at the large U-shaped conference table.
The metallic white coloured table, was covered with piles of paperwork, and various other instruments. At the converging end of the table, a blue holographic keyboard and a mini figure of the Earth could be seen.
The space in-between the curved parts of the table gave way to the ground, which was carpeted like the whole room. A machine with a myriad of wires looped in and out of it, lay on the ground, in a peaceful slumber.
A woman sitting at the head of the conference table, pressed some keys on the keyboard which engendered sparks from the machine.
A moment later holographic projections emanated from it. As the lights were slightly dimmed, the board members could see numerous pictures of identical people in different locations.
It showed the amount of illegal immigrant IEs from Alpha, that had been caught before they could cause another detrimental event, and some that hadn’t been, though their numbers were relatively very small- in single digits.
Even so, the atmosphere had turned grim, and everyone could feel an invisible weight on their shoulders. In the midst of discussing the potential suspects of the anti-government group, strange pictures started resurfacing, hijacking the display.
They were of places on Alphan Earth, where disasters had struck, or well it seemed like someone had destroyed them.
Some were of people attacking the places, wearing the palace guard uniform. While others had familiar faces of the suspects, and innocent bystanders running from an explosion.
Pictures of a dark lab filled the display which showed innumerable pods with humans suspended in a fluid; their heads attached to the tip of the tube.
The angles in which the pictures were taken suggested that someone had obviously taken them in secret.
Then one Alphan Delegate spoke up in a confused tone as he tried questioning the pictures.
“What is this?”
“I don’t know. Why don’t you try to explain, huh?” A board member retaliated.
“What do you mean?” Another Alphan got defensive.
“Oh as if we did not notice the fact that, there were palace guards at the site of the explosion-”
“They’re in every picture!”
“Oh c’mon, the suspects are there too!”
“Yeah, they were probably causing this! The palace guards were there to hunt them!”
Nova looked around and spotted a familiar face in the board meeting- Mischa, he looked worried.
Then she saw that the displays had two new images on them- one, where the King had been leading an army of sorts through piles of corpses.
“How do you explain this picture then? If the status of Alphan is this bad and we don’t get any explanation-”
“Listen- those were the rebellions,”
Then they saw the second picture of a blonde girl, standing on a pile of corpses, smoke covering almost all of her body shrouding her in darkness: her hand raised above her head with a sword.
“And who is this?”
…
…..
They were met with silence and discerning looks from the Alphas.
“Your Earth seems to be out of control! You should’ve reported all of this threat sooner!”
“Now it’s gonna drag Beta and Omega.”
“Not to mention all the other surrounding dimensions near us!”
“Oh c’mon, these pictures taken out of context.”
“Simmer down everyone—” Mischa tried to stop the ruckus. When out of nowhere clipboards and papers started flinging across the room. One even hit him on the head.
“Excuse me! Delegates-” Nova, too tried speaking, but ended up ducking under the table, groaning.
The woman at the head of the table switched off the display machine. She was unsure how the machine was hijacked nonetheless she needed to handle this tension first. She resorted to yelling.
“Alright!” Her booming voice echoed throughout the room.
Everyone looked at her.
“We’ll try to weed out all the anti-government group.”
Mischa stared at her, his eyes not blinking once.
She looked around the room to see a mess of papers and grown man-children.
“However, we’ll be sending a team to investigate, otherwise we will be forced to abdicate the king for the betterment of our Earths, whether he is good or bad I don’t care! You all better sort this fucking mess out.”
—-x—
“Well access to the device, isn’t allowed for general public in Alpha- heck many don’t even know about its existence, like in Omega.” Reina said after a while.
“So chances are it was someone from their organisation who was working with the ASR. Otherwise how’d they get the access to the device’s location.”
“Exactly. We are currently investigating all members of the organisation along with some ex-army soldiers. Ones that might hold a vendetta against the Emperor. Honestly there is a lot of ground to cover.” Nova said looking acknowledging Anakin's opinion.
“Then I’ll leave the rest of the investigation to you and your team.” Anakin replied. Reina seemed to be deep in thought as she stayed quiet for a long time.
"Excuse me!" Esae and Tae both cleared their throats and spoke at the same time. They both looked at each other as if they had done something very wrong. Esae looked in front to have three people staring back at him- Nova, Reina, and Anakin. Tae decided to back off and let Esae do the talking.
"Nobody still told us what IE, which I think stands for inter dimensional-equal, and Solaray are yet.”
"I agree, don't you think you've kept us in the dark for too long right now," Tae joined in.
"It was never our intention to keep you in the dark, and we never said we wouldn't explain it to you. We just have more important stuff to take care of, like what your father is doing now. An illegal Alphan immigrant like you.”
Tae tensed up and clenched his fist-almost turning his hand red.
My father…?
“He is off radar for some reason. Coincidentally the same day Alphan Embassy has sent a report confirming that their device’s parts have been stolen.
What?
“And not to mention the fact that you just so happen to go to the same shop where Esae was working, and meet him and then casually cause a solaray.”
….How much more do I not know?
Nova seemed to sense the mood which was going to get sour pretty soon.
"Ah you must be Esae, and," she looked at Esae, "Esae, gosh that'll be confusing to refer to.”
"Yes and that's why we call the boy from Alpha as Tae and the other one his original name," Reina answered.
They continued to walk down the never-ending corridor which branched into various other corridors and rooms.
"Why am I the one called Tae?" Tae muttered under his breath.
"What's wrong though? It's just your last name and last I checked you're in my dimension. Haven't you heard, when in Rome do what the Romans do.” Esae smirked.
Tae scowled. As he was about to say something back when Jay walked up to them and clasped both of their shoulders startling them.
"Clearly, the intelligence level is also the same in both dimensions. This is the second time I have to say shut up to both of you. We're in a crisis, and that's what you care about?”
"I- ” Esae shut his mouth after seeing Jay’s trademark smile with his eyebrows arched at angles. Needless to say he continued walking.
