The ship leaves the harbor at midnight tonight, Me and Aeschylus leave tonight to board. I should pack……… Oh, who am I kidding, the farther I leave the harder it will be to find me.
Against what I said I brought my knife and bow with a quiver of arrows, along with a loaf of bread. I walked outside…...no light other than the moon, today went by fast. I ran with no shoes, easier to stay quiet with no shoes on. I ran to the olive tree we were to meet at.
There he waited for me. His dirty blonde hair swept in his face and his light blue eyes shined as though illuminating his face. His thin frame was hidden by the olive tree. Behind him was a burlap sack.
“ You're late.” His voice was hushed and sarcastic.
“ yes thank you. Why so many things?” I was annoyed, I told him not to pack a lot!
“ Why so little?”
“ because if you pack a lot it will be obvious!”
“ I packed what we needed.”
“Fine let's get going.”
We start walking to the harbor, two hours till they leave, just enough time. When we get there we sneak aboard hidden in a chest.
“ didn’t think it would be this heavy.” a gruff voice, male perhaps says as we are lifted off the ground
“ Should we check for animals?” A smooth, definitely female, voice says. My heart stops, we are dead, we are so dead.
“ no, this is full of metal, should have been prepared.” I hold my breath in fear of getting caught. Aeschylus was next to me, he smiled as though to say it's fine, you're fine. I smile weakly and watch through the crack by my knee. All I saw were waves over waves over waves, making my stomach turn. Apparently, my face showed it because Aeschylus gave me a worried look.
“You okay?” he mouthed
“ seasickness. I should be fine.” I responded
“We aren't even on the boat yet. This is going to be a long ride.”
I nod in response, I look at the lid of the chest to ease my stomach. The feeling of throwing up was overwhelming me as I looked at the pine box. We were put down somewhere, I could not see anything, it was too dark. So I fell asleep on Aeschylus’s shoulder.
That night nightmares flooded my mind.
I ‘woke up’ in the chest, but Aeschylus was dead, his blood coated my dress, my bare hands, my feet, and my supplies. The lid was open and the crewmates were all staring at me.
