The sound of pierced flesh soon filled the hearing of the tiny spectators for a sealed destiny. That excruciating sound soon echoed in everyone's ears.
Open-mouthed, Qurnuk and Liriak were in shock by what had just happened.
The Stone Bear remained paralyzed, upright, and with its maw open. An arrow was buried inside its throat.
A second arrow followed from the shadows, hitting the same spot as it caused the creature to cease all its movements and fall right next to Dallus.
Liriak and Qurnuk saw the beast fall at the squad leader's feet. Dallus, in turn, opened his only eye when he saw that the threat was eliminated.
With the sudden silence that followed, a new shadow was announced nearby as it landed next to Qurnuk.
"It is done," young Wokor revealed his face to the light, his bow on his back and a serious expression on his face.
As calm as ever, Wokor bowed while paying his respects to the downed opponent.
"Accept our judgment and let your body nourish the Sacred Soil," with his eyes closed, the youngest of the group said smoothly. "Let the light illuminate your purpose and return to your origins. Be our dawn."
Always true to his function and attentive to his nation's formalities, Wokor finished up his prayer. However, seeing how calm the newest member of the squad was, Dallus became annoyed.
"Rookie! What were you doing all this time?!" Dallus left his position to face the boy recently assigned to his group. "Taking a nap while we get ourselves murdered down here?!"
Wokor did not dismiss his indifference.
"I was aiming," Wokor said calmly as he looked at the leader from the corner of his eye.
Dallus couldn't hold himself.
"Is it too hard to aim?!" the leader pointed to the slaughtered Stone Bear. "Look how big this damn monster is! How can you be afraid to miss it?!"
Wokor faced his superior's disapproving look with his known emotionless eyes.
"I aim to kill," the newcomer replied without blinking. "Not to wound."
The leader gritted his own teeth to the boy's audacity, and without much ado, he turned his back.
"Tsk!" Dallus clicked his tongue as he walked away towards the monster. "You might be able to prove your worth and replace our last buddy, but you still don't know what it means to work as a team!"
Dallus marched away rudely.
"These new children full of themselves are the worst!"
Wokor did not react to the impatience of his new leader, imagining that with a new job accomplished, his results could not be questioned.
Caught in a situation like that, the novice realized that someone was approaching behind his back.
"He’ll warm up to you, little grey one," at the age of seventeen, and the tallest of the group, Liriak ceased walking right next to Wokor, immediately looking at him with a serious expression. "Thank you for what you have done. I'll remember that."
HEy boy, every shot is to kill if you add enough arrows."
