The Stone Bear got really angry at the black-winged moth-boy’s shouting. Letting out a roar of intimidating proportions, the beast leaped over the warrior in crystal armor.
The animal threw its paws forward in furious and fearless strikes, but Qurnuk was agile enough to dodge the first attacks, slowing the next offensives.
It was the perfect time for Qurnuk to smile as he managed to grab one of that beast's terrifying claws. He held it right in the air with all the strength he could muster.
"It’s open!" Dallus noticed a breach on the Stone Bear's defense at that moment, and gripping firmly on his double-edged sword, he fired like a bolt of black lightning towards the animal.
Immediately, Liriak escorted the leader at the same speed.
Having the Stone Bear distracted with Qurnuk, Dallus raised his weapon in commitment, applying an extremely clean-cut to one of the beast's flanks. Liriak circled the other flank in quick, sequential attacks, keeping up with Dallus' grunts he made with each new attack.
The pair of warriors struck with all their strength while Qurnuk held that red-eyed monster in place. Dallus and Liriak danced around the beast like true battle weavers, sculpting a grand spectacle of sparkles that the blades made by reflecting the moonlight.
But no blow would pierce that thick skin.
"I can’t... hold it..." Qurnuk already had his strength drained from the weight the creature was making on him.
The Stone Bear became infuriated by the scratches it felt.
And then, the black-winged moth-boy faltered.
The Stone Bear finally withdrew his paw from Qurnuk's possession, and its claws soon smashed the tanker's crystal armor. The black-winged moth-boy was thrown easily in the air until he hit one of the trees.
"Qurnuk!" seeing that the squad's damage-controller had been removed from the play, Dallus was concerned.
The beast's threatening gaze quickly shifted to Liriak since it was his daggers that did the most damage to the Stone Bear's skin.
As the creature lifted its huge claws again, Liriak did not realize that the animal's paw was about to tear him apart.
"No!" Dallus' eye widened at the moment, realizing that his colleague would be caught off guard.
At the end of a series of blows with his blades, Liriak discovered late that the Stone Bear covered the moonlight with its frightening claws. The young lilac moth-man was startled by that horrifying face rising over his head.
The bent nails of that animal went down like the hammer of justice, sentencing Liriak's life to a bloody and cruel death.
Dallus ran faster than ever before, putting himself between them at that moment. He pushed Liriak away from danger by opening his hands as he chose to exchange his life for his partner's.
The leader roared at the same time the creature let out its victory's cry.
The beast's teeth gleamed in the moonlight of those hills, and its mouth opened to savor the moment when its strength would prevail over the hunters of its kind.
Qurnuk collected himself at that very instant and he was truly terrified by that sight.
"Dallus!" he shouted with fear in his heart. "Dallus! Watch out!"
On the ground, Liriak was completely shocked to see the overwhelming size that beast was getting from the new perspective, being completely paralyzed by the sacrifice the leader was willing to make.
Dallus closed his single eye for his fate, and without hesitating, he waited for his flesh to be torn apart by that monstrosity.
His feats had reached the High Priestess' ears and his ascension ceremony welcomed him with open arms.
