Chapter 5: Death
“Huh, well now that you’ve filled me in, I guess there no need to keep beating around the bush...”
I grabbed the head vampire and had him against the wall.
The old man seemed to try to stop me but I looked at him and he froze in place.
The head vampire spoke quite frantically.
“Wait wait, there no need to kill us, you're already quite powerful, we don’t pose any threat..”
“Not anymore, but that’s not why I’m going to kill you, you’re already dead, I’m just completing the job, and disposing of evil scum like you.”
“Where are you going to go, huh? You can’t go home, you have no knowledge of what being a vampire is like, joining us is..”
He stopped speaking as my hands grew tighter.
I got close starring him down and spoke sternly.
“My life as a human is over, you’ve made that abundantly clear, all of you have by now. So why not die already, I’ll survive on my own..“
As I spoke my hands clenched his neck pulling it apart from his body.
Before long he fell to the ground decapitated.
The older vampire fell after I looked at him.
He was unfrozen and now looked devastated at his master dead in front of him.
He almost tried touching the head vampire's head but hesitated.
I crouched down to him and spoke once more, even though he didn’t seem to be listening.
“Oh, I forgot to answer your questions before. My name.. it’s Lance, and if you haven't guessed it by now, I reject your invitation.”
“What does that matter, you’ve destroyed us..”
He looked at me and pleaded it seems.
“Kill me..”
“Gladly..”
My body moved over behind him, and I reached for his head.
I could hear a word being uttered in a faint relieved tone.
“Finally..”
He was easily disposed of and I dropped his head.

I looked back around the room patting the stuff off my hands and went to my friends on the floor, I tried feeling for a pulse or some sign of life but nothing was there.
I pondered if one had been lucky or unlucky enough to end up a vampire-like me.
I knelt down next to a friend on the floor, I checked his body.
But I saw no wounds closing or that have closed, I didn’t notice anything amiss.
I didn’t hear any heartbeats around me nor any signs of life.
I stood up from looking closely at a friend and spoke softly to myself in anger.
“Damn it.!”
I breathed in a deep outraged breath.
I stood up and walked over to the door.
Just before leaving I grabbed a torch and tossed it at the mess.
It’ll be like they died in a tragic fire, that’s what it will seem like I guess.
I walked out and continued down the dark hall.
Leaving them like that left a hole in my dead heart, what else could I have done I thought.
An assistant sat in a chair and looked at me, she seemed regal, she didn’t react to my appearance.
I was quite surprised I would have thought she would have freaked out, though now thinking about she was a human working for vampires.
She was probably used to it by now or at least was level-headed enough to not cause a fuss.
