CHAPTER 3: Lies Or The Truth?

5. "Princess Fi-Mei! Fi-Mei! Wake up honey, Prince Yunie is back to see you, and he brought his brother with him..." Her handmaiden says to her, leaning over her huge blue bed.

The princess wakes up in haste saying, "oh my goodness! Wait...I have to get dressed, it takes me about two hours everyday?" She complains, "do not worry, as your handmaiden, it is my job to take care of you, even the fastest way possible." "Then hurry and help me get dressed!!" 

As they rush, eventually Fi-Mei makes it outside to greet him and his brother while two guards are with them. 

"It's just you two I see?" The queen says to them properly. 

"Yes, but our two guards came with us, but...We also need to talk about something very important." 

"Sure...Come inside, we will talk in the garden." Princess Fi-Mei says quickly before her mother can speak, as she specifically looks at Prince Yunie.

They walk inside, as well as Prince Reyn who barely follows them, who eventually after staying in the foyer of the palace with his guards, walks over to Dae-Mi as she is cleaning the foyer, he walks over to her saying, "still cleaning as a maid? You deserve something that still relies on childhood, seriously, it has been a year since I last saw you, and this happens to be what you're doing." 

Dae-Mi bows before him then she says, "I do not understand, even though I am thirteen now, it shouldn't be a surprise that I'm still working here." 

Prince Reyn grabs her broomstick and throws it on the ground, he continues to say, "this world is about that Southern Island now, and we should all be into that, but you get no information at all about it do you? That this warrior is the third to last to be found, and all the information about them, they are important to you too, just like the royal and the citizens," he walks closer to her, "tell me, seriously, why you are still here in this room, cleaning like a slave when you shouldn't? Even as a fifteen year old kid myself, you deserve the same kind of teaching, make these people give it to you!" 

"I can't do that!" She yells back, causing the guard across from them to watch them only. Dae-Mi looks down and picks up the broomstick, but as she does Prince Reyn hugs Dae-Mi saying in her right ear, "things will get better, and it will get better soon." then he walks away smiling at her. 

Dae-Mi just stands there amazed and shocked by his oddly words, so to not get into trouble, she continues to clean. 

That night while having their supper, the prince's and the maids get to have dinner with them. They continue to talk about the Southern Island, and Fi-Mei starts saying, "I forgot to mention the dream you had to the family, Prince Yunie, would you care to talk about your dream?" 

She smiles oddly as Prince Yunie catches on saying, "of course not princess, this morning as I was enjoying my beauty sleep as usual, I had this dream that I was swimming in the ocean, I was strong enough to push around the sea with my body, and I was with this creature that was swimming as well, like a dolphin it swam and jumped with joy, and I was enjoying myself also," Prince Yunie speaks with extravagance as his hands tell the story, "the wind was heavy, but then the earth started to shake because the waters overcame me, but I survived it and landed on shore where this beautiful maiden came and handed me a blue crystal, saying in a soft voice, 'Warrior of Daylight' Then I suddenly was woken up by my butler, but doesn't that mean I'm a warrior? I mean I have been fighting and training for a full year now?" 

He looks around the table, hoping they'll say yes.

"And so did I." Prince Reyn says sternly, causing everyone to look at him with Fi-Mei's father, the King Mi-Wong, to say to him, "are you okay?" 

"I'm...fine." 

"Prince Reyn, of course we know, this is Prince Yunie's dream that is all." The Queen Fei-Soo says. 

"Yeah, anyways he is the warrior, confirmed by his dream, it says that in the book, right?" Princess Fi-Mei tries reassure. 

"Yes, but the crystal has to appear in real life, not in your dream." The King replies.

"But, King Mi-Wong, I do have the crystal, I saw it." 

"No, Yunie, in real life." 

"So...He still is the warrior! Confirm it!" 

Fei-Soo gets up and slaps in her Fi-Mei saying, "Do not ever raise your voice at us, Princess!" 

Fi-Mei sits down slowly, covering her face as everyone continues to eat. Prince Reyn on the other hand, saddens his face as he slowly eats, he turns to watch Dae-Mi for a bit, then he watches everyone else. 

Dae-Mi watches Prince Reyn as he brushes his hair out of the way, showing his brown scarred eyes, and with confidence he looks Dae-Mi in her eyes, and he drops his utensils causing everyone to look at him as he starts saying, "I have been having dreams, dreams about a young girl, who worked herself as a maid, but..." He looks at Dae-Mi and continues saying, "she enjoyed her labor for a strange reason, and in my second dream which was just the other night, she realized something about herself as she has been having dreams also, that she was swimming in the waters, watching a creature enjoy itself as it swam with her, giving her laughter and making her feel safe, and even giving awareness that she is strong enough to be in the water, pushing it and breathing under it with no problem, then the wind blew and the earth shook, causing her to be at shore, where she then saw herself in more defined clothing, but beauty didn't have to enhance, she was just stronger and immune to water as it reflected the daylight, but in my dream I had this morning, the girl was in a small village, where she was stared at badly, and she hated the stares and she ran inside a home and started to ponder with herself, then this blue crystal appeared in front of her and she was amazed by it, that it said to her 'Warrior of Daylight'."

 Dae-Mi watches Prince Reyn speak about this, not looking at anyone else, but just him.

"But before anything else could happen, I woke up, by my butler, and when I came here, it has been on my mind all day," he looks at Dae-Mi, "that is why Dae-Mi I told you those oddly words because you have to believe it, for who you really are, not this!" 

He slams his plate on the table, getting up and leaving. 

Dae-Mi quietly sits back down saying, "can I follow him?" 

"Go." The king says. 

...

Dae-Mi finds him outside in the dark, playing with a firefly as it glows along with the other beautiful plants that light up the night. Dae-Mi sits next to him on a chair as he ponders to himself, then Dae-Mi touches his hand as he starts saying, "they are not going to believe me, no one does, everytime Yunie says something at first they believe him until it always fails later on, but they always forgive him, even the time he almost got our parents killed and he blamed it on them. But I, I never consider lies, but when I speak, it always seems to fall down a pothole to them, always never true until it is true, but they never seem to care, never care for me." 

"I care for you," she places her hand on his, "I always will." Dae-Mi says to him with a bright smile afterwards.

"You barely know me, but...You are so nice." 

"I've learned." 

"Hm...You surely have." 

Noticing his stiff stature and saddened face, Dae-Mi leans forward to see his face, saying, "smile, Prince Reyn, cause your loyal one is right here." Dae-Mi gets up and bows down, while he lifts her head up saying, "no need, eventually I'll be bowing down to you, warrior of daylight." 

Dae-Mi scrunches her face in confusion, "no, Reyn I am not the warrior!" 

"That girl in my dream is you!" He says standing up now. 

Dae-Mi stands there teary eyed, then she begins to say, "a woman with such power is unheard of here, it can't be me..." 

"It is the Creators rule, not our rule!" 

After he says this, she gets up saying, "I need to take a breather."

Dae-Mi runs inside as Prince Reyn walks inside shouting, "Dae-Mi!" But Dae-Mi already locks herself in the closet, pondering about Prince Reyn's words.

CHAPTER 4: A Royal Destruction

5. A few months have passed and Dae-Mi is now fourteen years old, still working in the castle of the Jung family. But Dae-Mi has never told anyone else that she may be the warrior and Prince Yunie becomes everyone's main priority in thinking that he is the warrior. 

Instead, Dae-Mi always assumed that fighting has something to do with it, she has been learning from one of her older maids for months on working what skills she may have. 

"Sweetheart, throw the fan at me, trust me, I won't be hurt by it." 

"But, Miss Yunma, this is a blade full fan, it will cut you, remember the bamboo board, it broke in five pieces when I hit it." 

"That just shows how strong you are, now throw it, pretend I'm Fi-Mei and get your best shot." 

Dae-Mi focuses on Yunma and aims for her mid section, but Yunma catches it, then says after, "perfect..." 

"Thank you, miss Yunma." Dae-Mi politely bows down.

About to say something else about the fan, Yunma suddenly hears Princess Fi-Mei's voice calling out to her, "Yunma!" 

"Yes, my queen!" 

"The dishes, now!" 

"Oh, right, I will get it down," she turns back to Dae-Mi, "I'll see you later." 

"Bye, Miss Yunma." Dae-Mi bows again, watching Miss Yunma hurry up and leave the room. 

Dae-Mi wanders around the room and begins to train on and off again. 

Now having supper, Fi-Mei begins to say, "my vanity room door was unlocked, did someone go in the room today?" 

Everyone looks at Dae-Mi as Dae-Mi acts as if she's ignoring the conversation. "Dae-Mi...Were you in the vanity today?" The queen asks her. 

"No...Miss Yunma and I were cleaning the room, that is all." "That is not you and Miss Yunma's job! Only Miss Shie cleans that room, understand!" 

"Yes." She bows her head again.

"Get Miss Yunma." 

"Yunma!!" The queen shouts. Miss Yunma walks out saying, "yes..." 

Fi-Mei gets up and says, "Dae-Mi says that you and her were in my vanity room and you know not to go into my vanity room! This is probably your doing, because she is only fourteen years old, you are forty, so...You disobeyed, you're fired! I want you out tomorrow morning." 

"Fi-Mei? This is a big choice?" The king says.

"So, she disobeyed my number one rule, she is in trouble!" 

"Yes, I did take her with me, I deserve it, I'll leave tomorrow morning." 

"Miss Yunma? But this isn't right, I..." 

"No, Dae-Mi, I'll take it." 

"And...My bamboo board was broken, in five pieces! She is No longer a thought, I want her out!" 

"Quiet! Fi-Mei, Yunma, return to your room." 

Miss Yunma walks away while Dae-Mi runs after her. 

"Yunma! Yunma stop!" "Dae-Mi, you told on us, I have to go now." 

"But that's unfair." 

"So is life always, along with this family, I've been with them for twenty years, and about thirty women were fired over the years, and now it is me." 

"It is my fault, I wanted to go in there to train instead because of the light, but the basement was perfect, I'm sorry, I really am, I just couldn't lie to them." 

"I know, but someone has to take the blame and I'm the adult, I should've stopped you, but I didn't, so...I get what I deserve." 

"But...Yunma." 

"Bye, Dae-Mi, train well." Yunma closes the door as Dae-Mi sits back and cries. 

The next morning, they sit by the balcony and watch Yunma leaving, with Princess Fi-Mei smirking happily as she flings her fan towards her face blowing her long hair backward, "If only I could replace Prince Yunie with that handsome soldier from the first village, my wish will soon be granted." She whispers to herself and Dae-Mi acts like she doesn't hear her, with Princess Fi-Mei putting her fan down saying to Dae-Mi, "get the dining room cleaned, it bothers me seeing stains on the white wood." 

Then she walks away leaving Dae-mi to clean.

...

Then later that night, as everyone gets ready to sleep, the front guards run up to the king and queen's room, then the guards say, "the royal family of the south are here, and they say that their city has been raided by the Adenian's." 

"What?" The king says, then they both wake everyone up, greeting the troubled family and let them stay the night after they explain what happened. 

"We were asleep, but our guards came and told us that the Adenian's were here, we tried so hard to get here, we even lost some people. It is devastating, luckily they are all here now, sorry for the clutter now in the villages." 

"Oh my queen, it's okay, stay here for now." The queen says.

The maids get everyone in their rooms while Dae-Mi gets Yunie and Reyn situated in their rooms. 

"Dae-Mi...Can I talk to you for a second." 

She walks over to Reyn.

"Um...The Adenian's raided our land, I don't even know what it looks like now, I can't even imagine." "It's going to be okay, Reyn." 

"I hope so." 

"Prince Yunie is already snoring." 

He looks at him, "yeah, our sleep was a mess." 

"But you guys are okay now, and that is all that matters." 

"Yeah...Ouch, oh I forgot, I got this cut on my chest when I was leaving, my guard tried to save me." 

"I can treat it, let me look." 

Dae-Mi looks at the scar, then she says, "It looks exactly like the one on your face...I mean it is the same?" 

"Really?" Dae-Mi gives him a mirror and then he starts saying, "oh my, it is, is this a sign of something? Maybe something with you?" 

"Now you're thinking too much." She says treating him. "Seriously, you still don't believe that you could be the warrior?" 

"It isn't that, but...Me? Too far fetched." 

"I have been dreaming about you." 

"I know, but I need more signs first that I can see for myself, when the Creator gives it to me." "He is showing me through you." 

"Maybe I am, because I had the urge to train in fighting behind everyone's back, they don't know so please...Don't tell them anything." 

"Fingers Crossed." 

"But, I got my companion, other maid, fired, when they almost found out, Fi-Mei fired her, you see...They would never think even over there dead body, that I could be the warrior, me? A young woman, no, to them no, no matter how much I believe I am, it always goes back to them, like how everyone thinks your words are lies, whenever I speak, I am no's companion." 

"You have me, I know, that is something you can rely on, trust me." 

Dae-Mi hugs Reyn and he starts saying, "I'm going to help you with your fighting, starting tomorrow." "Prince Reyn...You don't?" 

"No, I will help." He says cutting her off.

"Thank you then." 

Suddenly Fi-Mei bust in the room screaming, "Ah! Prince Yunie! Baby are you okay?" 

"He was until you came in, he is sleeping." 

"Shut your scared hole, Reyn! Anyways, Yun, how are you feeling, are you hurt?" 

"Fi, I'm good, leave me alone, you tramp!" 

The room goes silent, and Fi-Mei starts saying, "I see, rest easy my love." 

For the first time Fi-Mei actually looks hurt or heartbroken, she brushes her hair back saying to Dae-Mi as she looks at Yunie, "You need to go to sleep yourself, enough of the Southern Island talk, the both of you!" 

Then she leaves slamming the door behind her.

 Dae-Mi waves goodbye to Prince Reyn as he says, "see you in the morning." 

"You too."
