The two begin to leave, when Ratty stops.
"Hey Turtle!" he asks. "Can I have that spray? I'm a better detective than you."
"Go to hell," Turtle says.
"Just a sec," Ratty says, pulling out his magnifying lens. "I need to track the beast's footprints."
He begins to take his time carefully examining the ground, before finally nodding.
"Yes! I can track things easier with my specs," he says.
"Whatever, nerd," says Turtle. "Lead the way."
The two of them begin their search following the footprints. As they follow, they reach a secret basement where they find a necklace of tiny skulls. Some of the bones are painted in blue color which is radiating.
"What the hell?" Turtle asks.
"It's a necklace," Ratty says, holding up a loop of thin, sharp bones. "We're looking for a clue, not a necklace."
"Maybe it's a present for... someone," Turtle suggests.
"It's not from this world," Ratty says.
"Of course it isn't," Turtle sighs. "Probably something to do with the giant spider beast that we fought."
"You can tell that just by looking at it?" Ratty asks.
"(Sigh) No. Just a guess." Turtle replies.
"Well, why don't you get to the point already?" Ratty asks.
"The point is, this thing is like nothing we've ever faced before," Turtle says. "I've never seen anything like it. I mean, I've seen a lot of weird shit in my life, but this is different. I don't know what this thing is, but I'm sure of it."
"Great. So am I," Ratty replies.
Turtle detective stares at the creature on the floor, wondering what to make of all this.
"Someone set this up for us. Some one with dark magic who can summon such creatures." Turtle says.
"But why?"
Turtle shrugs. "I don't know. Maybe to get rid of some one. Maybe as part of an initiation or something."
"But who would do such a thing?"
"People do crazy things for a lot of reasons. Probably best if we don't think too hard about it and just get out of here as fast as we can." Turtle says.
The rat shakes his head as the two of them begin to leave, taking Turtle's cigarette along for the ride.
Sometime later...
Turtle and Ratty are both sitting on their seats in their office.
"So what's next?" Ratty asks.
"Next is lunch," Turtle says. "Fortunately for us, today our cook Salmon is present."
"Oh. Not sure if I should be thrilled about it or not." Ratty rolls eyes.
"Hello there, my good men! How are you?
Ready for lunch?"
Turtle: " We are good. There’s however a slight problem."
Cook Salmon : What?
"You are the worst cook in the entire world." Turtle says.
Salmon: Oh yeah. That's right.
"There are amoeba in Saturn who can boil an egg better than you." Turtle adds
" Your filet mignon sauce Béarnaise look like dog-turds indeed."
Salmon : That's because they are.
Ratty : They are?
Salmon : Anyway. How about a nice meal while you chew it over?
Turtle : What's on the menu?
Salmon : Lizard. Sauté or fricassee?
"Ah, yes. The agony of choice!" Turtle sighs. "Saute involves?"
"Well you take fresh Lizard and you marinate it in a puddle for a while." Salmon describes enthusiastically.
Turtle: "For how long?"
Salmon: Until it’s drowned.
Turtle gives him a look.
Salmon continues "Then, you strech it out under a hot light bowl. Then, you get within dashing distance of latrine and you scoff it right down."
Turtle: So, that is saute? And fricassee?
Salmon: Exactly the same! Just a slightly bigger lizard.
Luckily, there was mashed potatoes in the menu too to save the day. Mashed potatoes. Crushed like Turtle's dreams.
After finishing the meal :
"You have to go check out the blonde girl "Kelso". The janitor gave me her adress. Learn everything you can about her in relation to Steve and this crime. Meanwhile, I'll check out " Frank's bar and grill".
"Wait. Who's Frank?" Ratty asks.
"The owner of the another rival bar of "Blue Dream". Remember the cops gave us that info?" Turtle adds
"Find out everything you can about the blond girl Sam mentioned. I'm sure the two have something to do with each other somehow."
"Got it," Ratty nods.
Turtle detective stands up and heads for the door.
"Oh, I almost forgot," Turtle says, pulling something small from his pocket and handing it to Ratty. "This is for you."
Ratty takes the object and inspects it. It's a cigarette lighter, but with an odd emblem on it. An emblem with two crossed machetes in the center.
"Thanks," Ratty says, as he lights up the cigarette.
Turtle turns around and heads towards the door.
