Jun walked the night street waiting, his black tails swaying happily behind him. His heterochromic eyes narrowed happily when he saw the object of his affections unlocking the door of the apartment complex he lived in.
He meowed happily and chased after him just making it before the door closed on his tails.
He slowly stalked after him making sure his presence wasn’t known, seeing as how...His man was quite allergic to cats much less a twin-tailed one.
He sighed and sat down against the wall. “The worries of your average cat are endless.” Jun looked over the side of the wall to catch his beloved walking into his apartment and climbed back over to his balcony and stared into the apartment from the window to see the light turn on.
…
The next day, he started to go to the park across the street and watch the children play until he came home.
He just didn’t understand humans anymore, after his 50th year alive he just decided to play the life of an average cat.
He saw a little girl run past him, a heart shaped box in her hands and her full of tears. Her long black hair was messy from someone pulling the ribbons out of her hair.
Jun recognized her as the little girl who lived with the human, He decided to run after her partially due to curiosity and another part due to her connection to his human!
Si-Eun sniffled as she wiped her tears from her face clutching the scrunched up and broken chocolate box. “Boys are stupid” She thought angerly.
A small paw laid itself on her ankle, Si-Eun wiped the tears that made her vision blurry to see a black cat with set heterochromic eyes staring at her.
Si-Eun slowly put down the box of chocolates and reached out to pet the cat in front of her, Jun’s black ears fell towards the sides when her hand reached the top of his head.
“Good Kitty.” She giggled, her light brown eyes shining brightly.
Jun nudged his head towards her in the mist of the comfortable feeling before he realized what he was doing and smacked away her hand.
“Ah.” She exclaimed in surprise, Jun walked over and sat by her on the sidewalk staring out at the park and the playing kids as the sky got grayer and grayer and the clouds moved slowly.
“You know,” Si-Eun started and Jun stared at her with bright eyes giving her his attention.
“My mommy and daddy are divorced, It happened last year. She left him for someone else, someone rich I think. He has been much more worried about money since then. I try to be a good girl and show him I don't care.” She said staring off into the distance.
“But he still worries and works himself, What should I do?” She asked looking down at Jun. Si-Eun picked him up and sat him on her lap slowly petting his back.
“I wish he was happy again,” She muttered
Jun looked down and bit his non-existant lip and pressed his paws on her chest and gave a high-pitched meow.
“Whats wr-”
“Si-Eun” A deep and magnetic voice sound from the distance and the two simultasily looked at the area the voice came from.
A tall man stood with a briefcase in and and a black trench coat covering his broad figure. His dark black hair was slicked back and his narrow phoenix eyes were pale blue.
Jun meowed happily.
“Daddy! Your home early!’’ Si-Eun exclaimed, putting down the cat and grabbing her stuff to run over to her father, reaching for his hand with a smile.
“Did you have a good day?” He said with a smile on his face grabbing her hand back walking over to their apartment across the street.
“Of course!”
…
Later that night Jun jumped onto their balcony from the one next door and looked into the window as usual this time catching the eyes of the little girl surprising her.
Si-Eun opened the screen door and crouched down whispering lowly, “You have to go, my daddy is allergic to cats.” She looked back and forth from the cat to her father in the kitchen.
Jun tilted his head as if he didn’t understand a word.
Si-Eun sighed and picked him up, “Dad, I'm going to my room to do homework!” She yelled as she ran with Jun in her arms to her bedroom.
She sat him on the bed and sat on the floor. “How did you even get up there? We’re on the 5th floor.”
‘’Meow.’’
…
Jun had stayed til everyone fell asleep as always then went to go find his usual companion, an older female cat named Willow, a Tonkinese cat.
“You're late.” She said her dark brown tail swaying as she laid on a brick wall no higher than 3 to 4 feet.
“I stayed longer than usual.” He said sitting in front of her, his two long tails swaying on the ground behind him.
Willow narrowed her pale green eyes, “You're only going to get hurt loving that human, they won’t live as long as you.”
“I’ll figure it out.’’
“It’s been 20 years, Panit.” She reminded
Jun turned his head in protest. He knew how long it had been, He did. Count all the years he could get close. He had known since he was twelve, When he came near one day and he had started sneezing so bad he had to go to the hospital.
His eyes were melancholic, He knew what was going to happen he did.
A Oriental cat stalked past him with a sly look with his yellow-green eyes, in a smooth, silky voice he said, “I know someone who can let you get near your beloved human.”
“Get out of here Bahram, Everyone knows you and your shady deals’’ She hissed jumping down from the all landing on his white tipped paws.
“Not at all,” He said happily, “I only want what’s best for Panit.”
“It’s impossible Bahram, No one can turn me into a human.”
“Oh, but it is.” He said circling Jun like a shark. The tip of his black tail touches the bottom of Jun’s face. Bahram got close to him; Face to Face. “Only if you want it of course.”
“Don’t fall for it Panit, There’s always an impossible price to pay’’ WIllow spoke up from the background.
Jun turned his head, “I’ll…..think about it”
Bahrams eyes narrowed joyfully, “Perfect.’’
…
Jun sat under the picnic tables roof as it rained, his tail swinging back and forth behind him as he thought.
He remembered the day he met him. That day it was also raining.
…
Sirang sat outside his house, the door was locked, the housekeepers were on their days off, and he didn’t own a key.
He sighed as he held his legs close to him. It was raining that day. He was at the time wearing a jacket and had an umbrella but it wasn’t going to do anything long term.
His parents worked late and he had no way to get inside.
Jun walked past, he was freezing cold. His black fur was soaking wet and his body was shivering. He himself was a short-haired cat. Although his coat will get denser it wouldn’t do shit against the rain.
Jun looked up and he and the young man made eye contact. ‘’Meow?” He asked, translating to ‘’Can I sit?”
Sirang moved over a tiny bit and hugged his legs closer and Jun sat next to him sitting down under the cover in front of the other’s house's gate.
At the time the boy was only 11. He didn’t know much and he didn’t have any friends. Real ones anyways.
Jun looked up at Sirang with bright eyes. “Meow?” meaning “What are you doing out here?”
Sirang looked down for a second before looking out into the rain head resting on his knees. “I’m locked out” He said slowly, his eyes filled with sadness.
Jun nudged his head against him in a way trying to comfort him seeing as A. He wasn’t human and B. He didn’t have hands.
Sirang gave a small laugh and pet him gently sneezing there after.
…
Jun sighed as he thought about the past, it was probably then when Sirang realized he was allergic to cats.
Jun’s ears flicked from time to time as some of the rain fell through the cracks of the older roof. He looked out into the rain.
His mood lowered and felt a little melancholic about his situation. He started to wish he had died back then. Maybe if he reincarnated he could be human and spend time with him.
“But it’s never for certain he would’ve looked at me.’’ He thought to himself.
…
As the days went on it was finally 3 days before Valentine’s Day. Jun stalked back and forth in front of the front steps at Sirang’s apartment.
He held a single rose in his mouth feeling extremely nervous at the moment. Not in all his life had he had to do something like this, not even as a kitten.
Jun turned his head and sat down as head heard the creak of the door open. He opened his eyes wide to seem extra cute and dropped the rose in front of him. “Meow!”
The meow of the cat had startled Sirang looking down at the cat. He smiled and cross-stepped by the cat.
“MEOW!”
Sirang turned to look at the Khao Manee staring at him with a wronged look in his eyes, “Meow~”.
“Sorry Kitty, I’m gonna be late.” He said, looking at him, from the watch to the cat, and back again.
Jun nudged the rose towards the man and looked up with expectant eyes.
“Ah,” He breathed as he took the rose, nodded and went on his way to work.
“Damn,” Jun said with the flick of his two-tails.
…
“It didn’t work at all.”
“Well would it?” Willow asked half of her pale brown body in a trash can. Her voice echoing as she meowed. “I mean you're a cat. Who would think a cat is in love with a human?”
Willow came out for the trash can licking her dirty paws. “At most they’ll think it’s someone cat.’’
Jun’s ears twitched in annoyance, “I just want him to notice me in time for Valentine’s day”
“A cat? Please. Get real or get real hurt.’’
…
That night he decided to take a chance. He couldn’t take it anymore! He had to tell Sirang face to face on Valentine’s Day. With or without this cat body!
Jun was led down the dark night alley by a Russian Blue , the lights from the outside still shone brightly on the wall. He followed him all the way down to an area covered in a blue tarp.
“This is pretty shady.’’ He thought but against his better judgement he still went in.
Bahram laid on a pile of old blankets rolling on his back when Jun had come in. His eyes opened wide and a toothy grin was on his face. “So you decided to come after all!”
“What a delight!”
Bahram got down from the blanket stretching his legs as he walked before he came face to face with Jun. “So you what’s your wish, Panit?”
“…”
Jun looked at him with determination in his eyes, “I want to be human!”
Bahrams eyes narrowed, “Perfect.”
